They don't make them like these any more. Another great song. There is one more from the film Boot Polish which goes something like ' Tumhare hain tumse daya (dua) mangte hain'. Has anyone heard of that one and is it possible to upload it? I can;t find it anywhere. Thanks
bheekh mein jo moti mile to bhi hum na lenge, zindagi ke aasuon ki mala pehnenge... can it be anymore stupid, and whats with the pathetic choreography? its less of a song and more of a joke
i m 23 but when i listen to these old songs i think present bollywood songs r a piece of shit infact most of them wid no meaning at all songs like mauja hi mauja ibn batuta bagl mein juta just chill beera-beera no lyrics no meaning
Shailendra has brilliantly expressed the hardships of life in simple words. One should know that he was an active member of IPTA (Indian People's Theatre Association)
@onlymullika , The boy is Ratankumaar. He also gave great performances in Do Bighaa Jamin , a masterpiece by Bimal Roy. I like his role in Jagriti where he played was handicapped poor orphan. Later he went to Pakistan to become a hero there.
To label the whole of the hindi film music crappy is unfair, some of today's films still have some decent tunes, a better way to put it might have been that they are not up to the standards of what they used to be, of course this argument applies to all music in general whether rock, soul or pop. Also all bollywood seems to be doing is moving ahead with the times
Wonderful Lyrics! Wonderful performance, esp by that baby girl.. very positive song.. Aanewale duniya me sabke sar pe taaj hoga.. wonderfull.. unfortunately the situation is otherwise in India..
Aanewale duniya me sabke sar pe taaj hoga.. things have changed in 60 yrs and moving on possitive side... will take time but we are in right direction
1954 : Kid what are you holding in your fists ? In my fists I hold my future .. We are in control of our future.
2009 : Slum dog millionnaire kid's shanty demolished by the police and govt. This happened to a celebrity kid. And , that got publicity. We dont know how many kids languish in how many jhuggis and zopdis. God knows ! Badle ga zamana ye sitaron mein likha hai.. What a cruel joke !! THANKS
@prinzdude The sad part is that we do not have singers who can sing like this, nor writers who can pen this innocence. And not the least actors like David.
Thank god that we still have those memories. The times have gone forever, enjoy their remnants.
@prinzdude You cant call modern lyricists morons.... they also have meanings but with new trends in music, they need to change the way they write their songs. it is very ignorant of anyone to call modern lyricists morons.
Superb lyrics by the best film lyricist of all time: Shailendra. Excellent music by the greatest composers of all time: Shankar jaikishen and superb singing by incomparable Rafi. Putting all this together ... makes this Simply divine. This was one of the best movies made under RK banner. Thanks for posting this.
Seeing the hopes of the children in the song and confronting today's reality i.e the Mumbai attack, the millions of flood affected people in Bihar, cholera stricken people of Zimbabwe etc made me very sad.
I like this song also for the positive spin it puts on the karma doctrine which is usually explained as promoting fatalism. In the long run, sing the children, we will make our own destiny through human initiative. Bit eutopian, but after all, we all live on hope.
Yeah, its interesting how Shailendra has penned the lyrics. On one sense he is advocating accepting one's destiny as fatalistically predetermined. On the other hand he saying not to be enslaved to one's circumstances and to rise above it by facing life's challenges. The last stanza is a bit utopian. My question is if all is fatalistically predetermined, what's the point working hard? Your thoughts?
There still is a lot of poverty on this earth therefore songs like this and Garibo ki suno,EK pesa dede etc are still valid to wake us up.ALSO songs like Gardish me ho tare and Maji chal o maji chal are needed to bring hope where there is none. Baki uperwala jane---ye duniya teri hey meri nahi hey.
What are the chances that we can re-live our childhood days? None I guess! Thats why we have kind people like you who are willing to share their videos with us, so that we can reminisce our past. Wonderful movie.
I agree with you 100%, like "unclothedmars" mentioned, "hopefully the taqdeer for children around the world improves. aane wali duniya me sabke sar pe taaj hoga...let's hope and pray for our children, for peace, unity, good life , happiness, good health..
One of the best movie produced by Raj Kapoor. What a wonderful director he was. The unfortunate thing happened after that movie was that he diverted all his energies for commercial cinema
But times have improved havent they? When I travelled throught India a few years ago I didn't see starving people, sure beggers there but everyone has food.
I saw this movie (Boot Polish) yesterday on a DVD for the first time. I grew up with these songs being played on radio in Pakistan but never thought I would one day be able to see the movie. I found it an emotional experience. I recommend this movie to everybody. Superb acting by two little kids and of course David. The DVD was produced by Music World DVD and Yash Raj Films in Forever Classics. Excellent print and audio.

@khush995 : Khush, the problem is that i just cant understand what meaning do the following songs make:
1) Dard-e-Disco
2) Beera- Beera
3) Nana chi Taang
4) Ibn Batuta - Chidiya furr furr
5) goli maar bheje mein
songs and let me know how many songs have any meaning attached to it?
"Do they make ANY sense?"
Can any singer of today be remembered like Kishore Kumar or Mohammed Rafi or Mukesh? I really wonder..
