Tony, Great Video! Thank you very much for putting it together. My uncle and I are both in it. We are from Cleveland. We are the 2 bald guys sitting on the rail of the monument on the right side of the video. I'm in the black tee and my uncle is in the peach Panama Jack tee. I cant say exactly how many where there. But as someone whom has attended many Browns games that draw 80,000 people. I can say that it most assuradly surpassed that number. I watched the crowd stream in for nearly 3 hrs.
Also, what the Video does not show are the huge numbers of people on either side of the trees looking forward toward the Capital. Also the vast number of people to the rear of your shot. Plus, we left at about 1:30 to get lunch back by Freedom Plaza and the sidewalks in downtown where packed with people. People where comming and going all day. Either way it was a lot of people intent on taking back OUR power.

lfish...inspectors had returned prior to invasion.Remember that the administration had told us they knew exactly where they were so we weren't going to eronious sites. The inspectors have said there is no way to scrub clean all traces so something should have turned up. Since inspections weren't yielding wanted results the nuclear angle was ramped up. When the nuclear intel was proven to be forged the administration went ahead with it anyway.

I would say that the majority of people there were fiscally conservative and fed up with both parties and the overreach of government as a whole. Your right in saying that the Republican Party did little to stop a lot of what has happened. But the republican party has never had the overwhelming majoritys to do so. In 1965 when medicare passed the house was made up of 289 dems and 140 rep. The senate had 68 dems and 32 rep. It to this day has never been challenged constitutionaly.
Also, Social security was originaly supposed to be handed over to and run by the private sector within 5 yrs of its conseption. Welfare is nothing more than a joke. Unemployment insurance was supposed to be 100% funded by the employer. The only area I disagree with you is concerning VA benefits. We as a country owe them a hell of a lot more than they receive.

As you know, when WMD's weren't found after the administration said they knew exactly where they were, and the lies of the nuclear threat were exposed the growing protests still didn't include this "grassroots" crowd. Some can't relate to this march because much of today's US voting population graduated(or not) from the increasingly ruined public school system after the 1970's. A lot of marchers look like they were in K-12 in the 60's and 70's- which is when you could still get a fairly good public education. First, I must say that I voted for Obama and I agree with most everything he says. I will admit though, that I'm a bit concerned about the public option, but that's because I need to know more about it from an economic perspective. We are the 2 bald guys sitting on the rail of the monument on the right side of the video. I'm in the black tee and my uncle is in the peach Panama Jack tee. I cant say exactly how many where there. But as someone whom has attended many Browns games that draw 80,000 people. I can say that it most assuradly surpassed that number. I watched the crowd stream in for nearly 3 hrs.

Also, what the Video does not show are the huge numbers of people on either side of the trees looking forward toward the Capital. Also the vast number of people to the rear of your shot. Plus, we left at about 1:30 to get lunch back by Freedom Plaza and the sidewalks in downtown where packed with people. People where comming and going all day. Either way it was a lot of people intent on taking back OUR power.

wittumy, I thanks, I dont believe that calling someone names is exactly the right way to chamge somebodys mind. When someone calls me a name, I know that I just won the debate. You say that you are also sick of Governmont waste. If that is true, then I expect to see you at the next march. Regarding Iraq, you have to remember that they kept kicking the inspectors out. FYI one of the cable stations did a nice timeline on saddam. It documents his rise to power. check it out.

lfish...inspectors had returned prior to invasion.Remember that the administration had told us they knew exactly where they were so we weren't going to eronious sites. The inspectors have said there is no way to scrub clean all traces so something should have turned up. Since inspections weren't yielding wanted results the nuclear angle was ramped up. When the nuclear intel was proven to be forged the administration went ahead with it anyway.
I've seen that Saddam show...it's a great one.

wittumy, we could debate how we got there till the end of time. I agree that there are a lot of questions concerning the intel that got us there. I also believe that had the media done its job that we probably would have gone in a lot sooner. The media had all the video it needed to condem Saddam for the genocide of his own people. Also, our government, (both sides) sat by and let it happen. But again, that is not , for the most part, what this march was about.

Also, before anyone says saddam was a great guy and none of this happened. I have 3 cousins and 1 older brother whom all served in Iraq. One of my cousins served in rhe marines as a heavy equipment operator and was involved in helping to uncover mass graves in the north. He told me that he could not believe how we could of sat by while this was going on. He watched 1 kid claim 13 family members from 1 grave site. And we think we have problems.

The phrase the enemy of my enemy is my friend played a big role in what transpired. Had Iran been able to win that war, it would have rolled through Jordan, and more than likely started another war with Israel. So what would you have done.

That's great if you are fed up with both parties; however, I believe that the majority of people who participate in Tea Party protests are whetted to the Republican party. They will expect change in 2010 and they probably won't get it. Yes, Obamacare might be defeated - but what have Republicans done to curb "socialism" for the last 70 years? Soc Sec, Medicare, VA ben, Unemploy Insur, and welfare have become permanent fixtures in the fed budget.

I would say that the majority of people there were fiscally conservative and fed up with both parties and the overreach of government as a whole. Your right in saying that the Republican Party did little to stop a lot of what has happened. But the republican party has never had the overwhelming majoritys to do so. In 1965 when medicare passed the house was made up of 289 dems and 140 rep. The senate had 68 dems and 32 rep. It to this day has never been challenged constitutionaly.

Also, Social security was originaly supposed to be handed over to and run by the private sector within 5 yrs of its conseption. Welfare is nothing more than a joke. Unemployment insurance was supposed to be 100% funded by the employer. The only area I disagree with you is concerning VA benefits. We as a country owe them a hell of a lot more than they receive.

--I agree with both your messages. Reps were in charge of Congress for only a few years in recent decades, & lost it 3yrs ago. So it's back to the same old secrecy, corruption, tax hiking & spending.
And I believe any soldier who has seen combat should get 100% free health care for life no questions asked. That's the very least we own them. But the military has a reputation for turning their backs on them whenever possible.

where was the protest when this country went to war on the basis of evidence which wasn't made available to the public, a false link between Sadaam and 9/11....but to offer health care to those who can't afford it like Sweden. Denmark, UK do warrants this level of protest...there is something seriously wrong here. "many are so hopelessly dependent on the system, they will fight to protect it"

Absolutely nothing thats why I did protest. My argument was that people sat idly by and watched an invasion based on a false premise yet they protests when A BETTER health care system is trying to be implemented.
My concern is not for your health care but for wanting ethical human beings who will try and better themselves mentally. Do you not see a tragic flaw in your morality if you protest this but not the war? Or spout the words "socialist, czars, russia, hitler etc" its harrowing

As you know, when WMD's weren't found after the administration said they knew exactly where they were, and the lies of the nuclear threat were exposed the growing protests still didn't include this "grassroots" crowd. This crowd also didn't say a thing about the appointed Czars, no-bid contracts, the spending or the taxation.

I don't know about 1 million people being there but that is a lot bigger than 75,000 like the whiners on MSLSD tried to say there was. There was also hundreds of other tea party get togethers that had hundreds and or thousands of people at each one all over the country.

Some can't relate to this march because much of today's US voting population graduated(or not) from the increasingly ruined public school system after the 1970's. A lot of marchers look like they were in K-12 in the 60's and 70's- which is when you could still get a fairly good public education. They are the ones who see accurately what has happened and cry out about it. As for the "racist" accusation-it's pathetic to keep hurling that at so many of our nation's finest law-abiding citizens.

First, I must say that I voted for Obama and I agree with most everything he says. I will admit though, that I'm a bit concerned about the public option, but that's because I need to know more about it from an economic perspective. The rest of the health reform plan I agree with 100%, as well as the rest of his policies, but I have to say that I really like the poster that says "SHHH... Don't Tell Congress What's After a Trillion!!" Very creative.
