  • Thanks for the tune.

  • I've got a song for you is one of Shirley's best ever albums, unfortunately it was released during a time when her success was fading and therefore was not very successful, only one week in the charts, peaked at 26 on 27/08/1966, great how she always came back after lows in her long career, soon to be 60 years, there are very few artitst (specially in the music industry) with that special longevity.

  • @Thorneycroft1937 - This is one of my favorite LPs too! Shirley's former husband, Kenneth Hume produced this LP, and unfortunately because of her phenom voice, he type casted her music style to singing big-belter type standards, when the music of the day was rock N roll like The Beatles. He couldn't see that with her tremendous voice, why not have her record more contemporary songs. Finally in 1970, her producers figured it out that when one has a voice like this, she can sing anything.

  • @sas9023055 - One this is for sure. Shirley's live concert popularity has never been an issue, and her fans expect her to include the old standards similar to this song where she can blow you away. And, when you have such a powerful voice, your record sales are more about picking the right songs of the day where the majority of the record buyers (people under 25 yo) will buy your records. Barbra Streisand, Vikki Carr, and Connie Francis all faced the same issue, and had to change.

  • @sas9023055 Exactly, anything. Shirley has sung everything , every type of song and music, from her beginnings in the 50s with her Blues recordings followed by Jazz in the early 60s right through her amazing career till Get The Party Started. Her versatility is as unmatched as her longevity.

  • Love this, but a very gentle comment: It's You're Gonna Hear from Me :)

  • @alexuniverse - Alex...thks for catching this! I saved the file without the (') because computers don't like that symbol. I forgot to change the title after uploading. Regards, Scot
