This is why I'm voting for Franken. Coleman is superior, smug, unresponsive to the voters, and uninterested in what we think about him. Plus, obviously wants to do whatever he wants and thinks we shouldn't care. Rude and arrogant.
Its this lack of disclosure and transparency that gave us the "shadow banking" industry that is slowly burying this country alive. With its hidden world of credit swaps and the like. We need to eradicate this type of obfuscation from both our political and business lives if we're to survive. We need to call out these sob's every time they try to get away with it.
That non-answer is completely unacceptable. It's about time the press started expecting an answer to the question that was asked. It's time for blunt questions and real answers. If the politician does not feel he has to answer it. He should resign.
That little phrase the spokesman repeated over and over can be translated as "I have nothing but contempt for my constituents, I owe them nothing".
Al Franken, I've read about him, I've listened to him for years on the radio, he's a brilliant man who care DEEPLY about our country!! He is a GREAT AMERICAN...with a sense of humor instead of ANGER like McCain. Let's have some REAL CHANGE in Washington. Let's get Coleman OUT and Franken In.
I don't live in MN and I've been donating regularly to Franken.
Coleman should have been the laughing stock of Minnesota long before this. He has a miserable record. He should be joined in the unemployment lines by Michelle Bauchman. Another failed GOP genetic experiment.
Well, with the undervalued apartment deal reported in National Journal(nice location near the capitol btw), and these "gift suits" Coleman definitely has a few ethics problems right now. If he knew he was "innocent" of this charge obviously his staff would just say that. The staff's non-answer here shows that either he is in direct violation of ethics rules or, more likely, that they aren't really sure and are trying to hedge just in case.
It certainly is. The suits aren't the point. The point is that a Senator seeking re-election has been accused of an ethical impropriety, and instead of speaking directly to this issue, he hides behind a smirking teenager with strict talking points. This is certainly not senatorial, and it remains to be seen whether any illegality is involved.
this is news.his political contributors have paid for an array of Coleman's basic expenses, including his rent, his utility bills, his trips to the Bahamas, and -- in the latest revelation -- even his clothes.
this is a silly video and these are silly questions.
I don't even know who these people are talking about, but the spokesidiot is probably correct. What he's saying (in essence)
1. Everything that rises to the level of gift that has to be reported, has been reported, you can probably look it all up online.
2. Anything below that threshhold doesn't have to be reported, and is therefore nobody's business, especially since someone's trying to hurt my candidate by stirring something up.
They need to check the report and the source instead of wasting this poor guy's time. Do their own homework instead of pressing him for fodder to feed their mudslinging.
I assume you did your homework and know that they didn't do their homework? It's their job to ask questions once they've done the research - if they didn't ask these questions, they'd be rightly shot down for not offering the opportunity to respond. Journalism 101.
It's obvious they didn't check the ethics commission report, because they keep asking him IF the suits are in there, not why they aren't. So you're right, it's their job to ask these questions AFTER doing their research. Also, the original article's sources and says the suits might have been purchased before Coleman joined the senate in 2003.
Chasing a story without checking the sources? Still bad journalism. Go back to school.
Yes, asking questions is SUCH bad journalism. Where did you say your bastion of fact finding was?
One must assume that your gain 'facts' from Fox News.
One must also assume that asking many, many questions and getting exactly the same robot response, is good PR! You do realize that's the point of this clip? To show the quality PR Republicans have to use now that actual questions are being asked of their behavior?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes, asking the same question repeatedly IS bad journalism. This isn't many questions, it's the same one in different words. If the "reporters" had the facts (from doing their research), they wouldn't have to ask this same asinine question over and over again. I don't watch Fox News as I don't own a TV, and I'm not a Republican, just an objective viewer. Still think you should retake Journalism 101, buddy.
