I got enlightened when I was 25 and it is true that huge enlightenment process is going on in the world. people saw I had something special and they wanted to have it, some people even got enlighened in my presence. amazing.
As I sit and listen to what this points toward, I get impatient and start pondering in dread about the madness that I must face in a couple of hours. Yet I still know this is nesessary to be here in this moment, to remember what is important. I'm guessing we know this happens when we can see the good in others, and that space between goodness and reactive patterns of thinking that lead to destruction. It seems that even a brief interruption of these patterns, can have a significant effect..

Eckhart Tolle is Satan manifested in the flesh. If you listen to his teachings, your ability to reason will be crippled greatly. I try time and time again to warn you not to worship Eckhart Tolle the Anti-Christ.
You can dissolve the "hooks" that bind us to our impressions, but if you "do something" it is just the mind acting. Dissolving is possible by meditating in the transcendent ( "alive silent space") or by boggling the mind, or by some extreme physical situation (sky diving) - maybe with damage. Is there another way?
@burmanhands Eckhart Tolle says that his way was simply to suffer from his ego until it became unbearable. ^^ So one could say, you can *do* pretty much anything until you eventually realize that you'll only stop suffering if you stop (over-) identifying with what you do. I guess that means everybody will awaken eventually. ^^
i love your teaching about living in the now, i've been trying to live that way for a while now, i know it works. but $20 a month for regular instalments and the threat of world destruction if we don't get it right. i seem to have heard this somewhere before. you don't come across as a conman but they come in all guises. you seem to be on a mission now and you're making loadsamoney. smacks of profiteering and ego to me.

this has opened up a whole new reality for me and it is much simpler than i ever imagined .. i remember years ago attempting to meditate but my mind was all chatter and would not stop .. the simple statement of "you are not your mind" has stopped the chatter dead in it's tracks and i have lost the idea of expectation and move ever further into moment by moment acceptance. it is saving my life :)

You know I just realized something. I was getting a bit impatient and maybe even irritated with how slow Mr Tolle is speaking in this video especially during the long pauses. That made me realize how not in the moment I am. I am always trying to race on to the next moment in this case to the end of this video.
@peacefulmind33 Well yeah, the reason why commercials, shows, and news keeps our attention, is because they are so quick and you don't have time to really think about what's being said, so you just sort of absorb everything that's said. That's not good, because if they say something like, "EVERYONE knows that...blah blah blah", then you automatically sort of keep that in your mind, without thinking about it. It's better to speak slowly and calmly.
A while back when recovering from illness I felt as though I had a sort of revelation, like a voice inside me said 'its alright' and my worries just vanished, because I knew I didn't have to think about them. I became super confident and aware of the beauty of the world, not because it was added to me, but because my fears disappeared. Why did this happen to me? My fears have slowly started to return but I'm hoping Tolle's book will help me return to that peaceful, accepting state I had before.
I found wonderful side effects while I was ill. It took a little while longer when I seemed to be suffering quite a bit that I decided enough was enough When I heard the words 'you are not the thoughts in your head' and started to watch the thoughts in my head I found them to be repetiive and destructive. Who watches these thoughts? and who or what believes them?Look and see. Nothing can affect my inner sense of joy now and its wonderful.
That's what happened to me - I actually heard a voice which triggered a feeling of absolute relief! I suppose if I was a religious person I would call it a religious experience, but I'm not. I have been left with a feeling of connectedness with my body, and a greater empathy for other people's behaviour. It' not a psychological thing though, it's deeper than that. It connects us to God. If observing Tolle's teachings helps other people come to the same realisation, I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Yes granty77, a very similar thing happened to me in early 2007, it lasted a few weeks off and on, ever since I've been seeking to get back to it, yet the more I seek and learn the further I get from it. Don't do what I did and smother it with learning vast amounts of spiritual information in an attempt to recreate or control it. I don't know what the answer is, but I know where it's not, so far at least, Hope this might save you some time.
Hey thanks for your advice. I know what you mean, it's easy to get bogged down in taking all this information in, rather than just practising the message within. Tolle mentions this though, everything he says are just signposts to what we should do, observing the signpost is pointless - we know the truth because it is already a part of us, it isn't something we 'add' to ourselves. Don't worry anyway Motown, whatever you thought you had hasn't really left you, and it never will :)
You experienced something profound and then the thinking that thinks it is you tried to repeat the experience. This is the nature of thinking. The real you is still there, but the thinking is thinking it is you seeking. To become permanently free from the thinking requires an intentional unwinding from it's clutches. Tolle does not provide the tools to do this.
Quite so, however whenever I feel I am about to rediscover it, I feel great fear of the consequences. Of course we can get into maddening descriptions of what "I" is, and that "I" is protecting itself...but I can't see the duality in real time as I did before, it feels like there is one me now, and I dare not kill him as he feels like he is me. It was different when I was in the state, so simple, yet now I can't see the wood for the trees.
The real you is already there. The thinking has the fear and is the one looking. You don't need to look. A simple technique to be in the now is to ask yourself OUT LOUD before any activity: "what do I need to do now? wait for the intuition (not the thinking) to answer and do what it says to
do. When you finish that activity ask yourself again "what do I need to do now? Don't think. Do what the intuition says to do. Intuition is best felt in the upper chest area while breathing.
OK I'm game, let me enact your technique for a few days. Funny you mention the upper chest, I felt "located" or "seated" there are the time...was the only physical symptom other than the smoother uncontrived breathing that seemed to fall in and out of me.

Wow! That's amazing! My tooth has been hurting for hours even though I've taken medication. I rewound this 9 1/2 minute video twice because I kept 'daydreaming' & losing my 'space'. Then the 3rd time I lost an entire 5 minutes of this 9 1/2 minute video. When I realized it my toothache was gone! He said the info wouldn't be the highest significance though. His voice is so soothing.
What if we're here for the reason we do anything; we just want to feel powerful, superior, cool? Are we really doing anything? Can we really do anything to speed the process of realization? It seems our minds are burning down. Can we fan the flames? Are we even the Do-er? Would we have to be detached, dissociated Aquarians, with Mercury in mystical Pisces, and the Moon in placid, grounded, uncomplicated Taurus, like Eckhart? What of the path? The individual? The human? The soul?
To michaelpellegrino, I totaly agree you. His teachings changed my entire life. I suffered from social anxiety disorder for many years. I was born into the cathoilc church, but at the ege of 14, i renounced it and had no religious beliefs. But at the age of 17 I accepted christ as my savior in a Christian church. It was then that I began to feel the fear of death, and fear of hell. It was there that i began to feel shameful of myself and it was there that i learned to Hate non christians!

The whole style of speach and the monotone is textbook hypnosis, the pregnant pauses are all part of it. It makes ordinary piffle sound like it has deep meaning. He uses the word "alert" while putting his followers to sleep.
I find theism, references to "god" or traditional religious writtings so distracting from the spiritual experience.
I wish he could make it more accessable in a secular humanism way. It's like he's intentionally kissing up to organized religion just to appease. I don't mean to read his motivetive but i tried lol

As a student of comparative religions/philosophy I have found E.T. largely complementary to most world traditions.
He speaks the truth from the heart. I know this for when I read his books or listen to his talks his words resonate with my own heart far beneath the realm of words.
I feel he is very sincere and helpful to many and I thank him for this.
@michaelpellegrino I'm new to Eckhart, but what I'm appreciating about him, is actually the fact that he speaks so slowly. It's much easier for me to keep track of what he is saying. Sometimes other people are going so quickly that I will miss things, and need to rewind the video in order to get the message; but with him I don't have that problem at all. He speaks with a speed that is very easy for my mind to process and keep hold of.

I own three books by Eckhart Tolle, and am deeply influenced by his teachings, so I know the power of them.
However... I cannot get myself to grasp why ET doesn't just tape himself and post to Youtube like many others do; free of charge. Especially since he points out the importance and urgency of the world becoming conscious.
Money can hardly be the issue, so why would anyone add an unnecessary obstacle to the important message he's trying to spread?

Tlexiktli - I saw you had made/posted a ~beautiful video~on Quanah Parker. I have The Time-Life series of 19 books on: "The West" and two are on "The Indians" and have a very wonderful series of old pictures. I watched your video, and loved that it had "Quanah's girls" on there. I did not see his mother's picture? I also read the book: "~Ride The Wind~" which is a fictionalized version of Cythia Parkers capture and her becoming Quanah's mother. As a Social Worker, do you promote Tolle's books?
Nah, I don't promote people's products, just wellness, but that wellness is defined by the client and the clients goals and values. Learning how to meditate is a tool or skill and I have seen it help a lot of people.
I used to trip that Quanah had so many wives, but it was because so many men had been killed, there was a shortage of men, so it was out of need and not religion or culture. I had one picture his mother but didn't fit it in. All My Relations!
PS: Tolle's core teaching are very consistant with some Native American Teachings and beliefs. Even though I have access to traditional ceremonies and practices Tolle's book really helped me through the death of my sister in law this last Dec.
Don't The Native American tribes recognize "One" Creator? One Holy God? And His creating all things? And "we" are His: creations? What did Tolle say that helped in (so very sorry for you & your family!) sister in laws death?(My husband takes product for a Native tribes, logging operations, and I go with him, as often as I can. While he went up to the logging area, last time I went, I stayed in town and watched some eagles go back and forth from a nest, right behind a home there. )
Not only is every Tribe different, there are various differences with in tribes, with in bands, clans, and families. The missionaries crushed a lot of Native Religion, but there are so many that survive, The NAC, The Indian Shaker Church, 7 Drum, Smoke House, and on and on and on. Don't trip out on Dogma, it leads you astray from love and compassion, etc. LOVE, FAITH, HOPE, CHARITY.

On a lot of these Echart videos I see the same couple of names commenting ad nauseum, talking all sort of nonsense about Satan and were all going to hell etc. I look on them as being a test of being present :)
I look at them as the cry for help of people who are utterly and completely identified with the dogma they once adopted.
This is because of the frantic desperation this kind of spamming radiates. As if they are frantically trying to close all 'leaks' that are supposedly causing their religion to 'drown', only to find new leaks appearing again and again.

You might be right. It is possible. Please believe me, I have encountered beliefs such as your own over many, many years, and in many, many people. I have tried, in my early years, to adopt them as my own. But I have never been able to find truth in them. The simple truth Tolle speaks of reflects everything I have known, and yet still sought in my heart, since I was a young child.
As I said, perhaps you are right. Perhaps my heart is wrong and your beliefs are right.
When the verse from Scripture: John 15:4 - tells us "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me." - this one Scripture alone tells us that Eckhart Tolle is NOT "the vine". Jesus is. And who should we "abide" with. Jesus as our Savior, counselor, comfort & Lord of our lives. This verse does not say - "do what you want, decide self-rule". It tells us that there is a True Source of all Spiritual Knowledge~

I just have a somewhat different understanding of both the bible and of Eckhart's teachings, but that is beyond the scope of a short post to a forum such as this. I would only respectfully point out that Tolle does not suggest anything like "do what you want, decide self-rule". Quite the contrary. And I really belief that if you read or listen to his words carefully, you will come to understand this.
Tolles entire book stands in opposition to the Entire Spiritual message. He deletes the resurecction & invents the fake stand-in:reincarnation. The Power of Now is a great book, however setting yourself up as an infallible guru who never says 'I don't know' or 'maybe' or 'perhaps' was a really bad idea.

Time is an illusion... you are always now. Time is not linier.
Does that mean when I walk.... I am not really moving? I walk for a few paces but I am still right there. The backgound has changed but I am still right here.... just as time apears to go past... but isnt really.

YouTube is great because you can get the "best of both worlds" with the truth of a spiritual teacher who speaks on stillness, love and presence, and then the blessed beings who are leaving comments of the ego. Paying attention to the silent spaces between the words is just as important as -- if not more important than -- listening to what the words point to --> stillness.

The outer senses are always seeking excitement and stimulation so it is necessary to tune in to Presence which is so much deeper than sense perceptions. It can seem empty and boring to the busy mind that has been so active in our experience for so long. You are truly a great example to us all.

he does take his time. but i think he wants to be an example of not getting excited and remaining, thoughfully in the now. You can dissolve the "hooks" that bind us to our impressions, but if you "do something" it is just the mind acting. Dissolving is possible by meditating in the transcendent ( "alive silent space") or by boggling the mind, or by some extreme physical situation (sky diving) - maybe with damage. Is there another way?

this has opened up a whole new reality for me and it is much simpler than i ever imagined .. i remember years ago attempting to meditate but my mind was all chatter and would not stop .. the simple statement of "you are not your mind" has stopped the chatter dead in it's tracks and i have lost the idea of expectation and move ever further into moment by moment acceptance. it is saving my life :)

You know I just realized something. I was getting a bit impatient and maybe even irritated with how slow Mr Tolle is speaking in this video especially during the long pauses. That made me realize how not in the moment I am. I am always trying to race on to the next moment in this case to the end of this video.

@peacefulmind33 Well yeah, the reason why commercials, shows, and news keeps our attention, is because they are so quick and you don't have time to really think about what's being said, so you just sort of absorb everything that's said. That's not good, because if they say something like, "EVERYONE knows that...blah blah blah", then you automatically sort of keep that in your mind, without thinking about it. It's better to speak slowly and calmly.

A while back when recovering from illness I felt as though I had a sort of revelation, like a voice inside me said 'its alright' and my worries just vanished, because I knew I didn't have to think about them. I became super confident and aware of the beauty of the world, not because it was added to me, but because my fears disappeared. Why did this happen to me? My fears have slowly started to return but I'm hoping Tolle's book will help me return to that peaceful, accepting state I had before.

I found wonderful side effects while I was ill. It took a little while longer when I seemed to be suffering quite a bit that I decided enough was enough When I heard the words 'you are not the thoughts in your head' and started to watch the thoughts in my head I found them to be repetiive and destructive. Who watches these thoughts? and who or what believes them?Look and see. Nothing can affect my inner sense of joy now and its wonderful.

That's what happened to me - I actually heard a voice which triggered a feeling of absolute relief! I suppose if I was a religious person I would call it a religious experience, but I'm not. I have been left with a feeling of connectedness with my body, and a greater empathy for other people's behaviour. It' not a psychological thing though, it's deeper than that. It connects us to God. If observing Tolle's teachings helps other people come to the same realisation, I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Yes granty77, a very similar thing happened to me in early 2007, it lasted a few weeks off and on, ever since I've been seeking to get back to it, yet the more I seek and learn the further I get from it. Don't do what I did and smother it with learning vast amounts of spiritual information in an attempt to recreate or control it. I don't know what the answer is, but I know where it's not, so far at least, Hope this might save you some time.

Hey thanks for your advice. I know what you mean, it's easy to get bogged down in taking all this information in, rather than just practising the message within. Tolle mentions this though, everything he says are just signposts to what we should do, observing the signpost is pointless - we know the truth because it is already a part of us, it isn't something we 'add' to ourselves. Don't worry anyway Motown, whatever you thought you had hasn't really left you, and it never will :)

You experienced something profound and then the thinking that thinks it is you tried to repeat the experience. This is the nature of thinking. The real you is still there, but the thinking is thinking it is you seeking. To become permanently free from the thinking requires an intentional unwinding from it's clutches. Tolle does not provide the tools to do this.

Quite so, however whenever I feel I am about to rediscover it, I feel great fear of the consequences. Of course we can get into maddening descriptions of what "I" is, and that "I" is protecting itself...but I can't see the duality in real time as I did before, it feels like there is one me now, and I dare not kill him as he feels like he is me. It was different when I was in the state, so simple, yet now I can't see the wood for the trees.

The real you is already there. The thinking has the fear and is the one looking. You don't need to look. A simple technique to be in the now is to ask yourself OUT LOUD before any activity: "what do I need to do now? wait for the intuition (not the thinking) to answer and do what it says to
do. When you finish that activity ask yourself again "what do I need to do now? Don't think. Do what the intuition says to do. Intuition is best felt in the upper chest area while breathing.

Wow! That's amazing! My tooth has been hurting for hours even though I've taken medication. I rewound this 9 1/2 minute video twice because I kept 'daydreaming' & losing my 'space'. Then the 3rd time I lost an entire 5 minutes of this 9 1/2 minute video. When I realized it my toothache was gone! He said the info wouldn't be the highest significance though. To michaelpellegrino, I totaly agree you. His teachings changed my entire life. I suffered from social anxiety disorder for many years. I was born into the cathoilc church, but at the ege of 14, i renounced it and had no religious beliefs. But at the age of 17 I accepted christ as my savior in a Christian church. It was then that I began to feel the fear of death, and fear of hell. It was there that i began to feel shameful of myself and it was there that i learned to Hate non christians!

The whole style of speach and the monotone is textbook hypnosis, the pregnant pauses are all part of it. It makes ordinary piffle sound like it has deep meaning. He uses the word "alert" while putting his followers to sleep.

As a student of comparative religions/philosophy I have found E.T. largely complementary to most world traditions.
He speaks the truth from the heart. I know this for when I read his books or listen to his talks his words resonate with my own heart far beneath the realm of words.
I feel he is very sincere and helpful to many and I thank him for this.

@michaelpellegrino I'm new to Eckhart, but what I'm appreciating about him, is actually the fact that he speaks so slowly. It's much easier for me to keep track of what he is saying. Sometimes other people are going so quickly that I will miss things, and need to rewind the video in order to get the message; but with him I don't have that problem at all. He speaks with a speed that is very easy for my mind to process and keep hold of.

I own three books by Eckhart Tolle, and am deeply influenced by his teachings, so I know the power of them.
However... I cannot get myself to grasp why ET doesn't just tape himself and post to Youtube like many others do; free of charge. Especially since he points out the importance and urgency of the world becoming conscious.
Money can hardly be the issue, so why would anyone add an unnecessary obstacle to the important message he's trying to spread?

Tlexiktli - I saw you had made/posted a ~beautiful video~on Quanah Parker. I have The Time-Life series of 19 books on: "The West" and two are on "The Indians" and have a very wonderful series of old pictures. I watched your video, and loved that it had "Quanah's girls" on there. I did not see his mother's picture? I also read the book: "~Ride The Wind~" which is a fictionalized version of Cythia Parkers capture and her becoming Quanah's mother. As a Social Worker, do you promote Tolle's books?

Nah, I don't promote people's products, just wellness, but that wellness is defined by the client and the clients goals and values. Learning how to meditate is a tool or skill and I have seen it help a lot of people.

I used to trip that Quanah had so many wives, but it was because so many men had been killed, there was a shortage of men, so it was out of need and not religion or culture. I had one picture his mother but didn't fit it in. All My Relations!
PS: Tolle's core teaching are very consistant with some Native American Teachings and beliefs. Even though I have access to traditional ceremonies and practices Tolle's book really helped me through the death of my sister in law this last Dec.

Don't The Native American tribes recognize "One" Creator? One Holy God? And His creating all things? And "we" are His: creations? What did Tolle say that helped in (so very sorry for you & your family!) sister in laws death?(My husband takes product for a Native tribes, logging operations, and I go with him, as often as I can. While he went up to the logging area, last time I went, I stayed in town and watched some eagles go back and forth from a nest, right behind a home there. )

Not only is every Tribe different, there are various differences with in tribes, with in bands, clans, and families. The missionaries crushed a lot of Native Religion, but there are so many that survive, The NAC, The Indian Shaker Church, 7 Drum, Smoke House, and on and on and on. Don't trip out on Dogma, it leads you astray from love and compassion, etc. LOVE, FAITH, HOPE, CHARITY.

What do you think of the Exclusive Claim of Jesus Christ? He said He alone was the Unique Triune Living God. And the way to the Father. That He was Truth. And Perfect. None other was: perfect. And Not a: Liar. His attributes are His essence. We can find them, now in Scripture. He left us. Would Perfect Love, be expressed in the birth, life and resurrection of Jesus Christ? Tolle teaches "reincarnation" not Resurrection. There is a complete difference. Not the same. Jesus makes an Exclusive claim

I look at them as the cry for help of people who are utterly and completely identified with the dogma they once adopted.
This is because of the frantic desperation this kind of spamming radiates. As if they are frantically trying to close all 'leaks' that are supposedly causing their religion to 'drown', only to find new leaks appearing again and again.
All the while, the real leak is their own lack of faith. Otherwise they wouldn't have that need to convince others so desperately.

How could you be brainwashed then by Eckhart Tolle? He has the most easily checked cult (excluding Marianne Williamson) on record. He is the SAME as Ramtha and her "ramsters". Do you except her? You do know he did exist before Oprah right? Oprah just helped him gain attention because she happened to find his book helpful. Nevertheless, that does not discredit his realizations about existence or his intentions to share it with the world. I have always felt a spiritually seeking in line of what Eckhart Tolle speaks about. He challenges you to take responsibility for your life, you are what you think after all, no one can affect the world within your mind except you.

You might be right. It is possible. Please believe me, I have encountered beliefs such as your own over many, many years, and in many, many people. I have tried, in my early years, to adopt them as my own. But I have never been able to find truth in them. The simple truth Tolle speaks of reflects everything I have known, and yet still sought in my heart, since I was a young child.
As I said, perhaps you are right. Perhaps my heart is wrong and your beliefs are right.

When the verse from Scripture: John 15:4 - tells us "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me." - this one Scripture alone tells us that Eckhart Tolle is NOT "the vine". Jesus is. And who should we "abide" with. Jesus as our Savior, counselor, comfort & Lord of our lives. This verse does not say - "do what you want, decide self-rule". It tells us that there is a True Source of all Spiritual Knowledge~

I just have a somewhat different understanding of both the bible and of Eckhart's teachings, but that is beyond the scope of a short post to a forum such as this. I would only respectfully point out that Tolle does not suggest anything like "do what you want, decide self-rule". Quite the contrary. And I really belief that if you read or listen to his words carefully, you will come to understand this.

Tolles entire book stands in opposition to the Entire Spiritual message. He deletes the resurecction & invents the fake stand-in:reincarnation. He insists his "brain vibrations" and thoughts mean more than the power of Scripture to come into a persons life and make a profound difference. And that would be through the grace and faith Jesus brings us, when we accept His gift of Salvation. Tolle says: human works and self-will are good enough. And it does not matter anyway - you're your own christ

The Power of Now is a great book, however setting yourself up as an infallible guru who never says 'I don't know' or 'maybe' or 'perhaps' was a really bad idea.
Your unworldly vanity is so great, you couldn't resist telling us you can't use a computer yet you pontificate on every subject known to man. From the consciousness of animals to global politics, things you know absolutely nothing about. That is ego and it makes you part of the old heaven and earth not the new one.

Thank you for your light hearted and truthful comment. I was reading the drama and laughing at the ironic situation. YouTube is great because you can get the "best of both worlds" with the truth of a spiritual teacher who speaks on stillness, love and presence, and then the blessed beings who are leaving comments of the ego. Paying attention to the silent spaces between the words is just as important as -- if not more important than -- listening to what the words point to --> stillness.
The segment from 6:35 - 7:23 talks somewhat about this.
P.S.: Would you believe my favorite moment is 1:26 - 1:38?! lol For someone like myself who's been burdened by over-analyzing everything all my life, I'm gradually discovering the healing power of stillness. Blessings on your journey.

The outer senses are always seeking excitement and stimulation so it is necessary to tune in to Presence which is so much deeper than sense perceptions. It can seem empty and boring to the busy mind that has been so active in our experience for so long. You are truly a great example to us all.

he does take his time. but i think he wants to be an example of not getting excited and remaining, thoughfully in the now. Ever notice how everyone today yacks so fast, trying to shove in as many words as possible before the person they are speaking to interupts and starts shoving their 2 cents in. The last generatoin was much calmer and co-operative in their conversation...more relaxed and meaningful.
