I definitely understand what you are talking about with "masters". However, I believe that becoming a Sifu is a bit different. Oftentimes, a person is simply told that they are now one. Their own Sifu may place that on them as a challenge and a role to grow into. I have heard many of the Sifus I know say "I didn't think I was ready!" Of course, for most people, they'll never be ready without doing.
