I got a Modest Pile of Hats and the Fancy Fedora (I don't count the Gibus as a hat). I got that Japanese hat for the Soldier but it's not worth it. I even got the Alien Swarm parasite. Lulz. (But who doesn't?)

Just so everybody knows, here is how the hat thing works. When you are logged into a Steam server for 25 mintues, you have a 1 in 4 chance of finding something. .45% of the time the thing you find will be a hat. This is from the statistics of Drunken f00L and he knows better than anybody except the mystics at Steam.

I think they should make multiple hats for each character really. More of a character customization. Right now, everyone just wants a single hat really badly. If at, whatever point, a large amount of people get the hat for their character, the hat isn't going to look so special anymore. I'm sure they've thought of this. But... let people earn character customization elements so they can personalize the class they play with. Sounds like a better idea to me. Yay me.

I read some where that people would get hats within the first few minutes they play. Then 250 hrs, 500 hrs, and a huge jump to 1000. Not sure if its correct but i got mine at almost exactly 250 hrs. Hopefully you dont land in the 1000 hr margin.

you have a chance of 0.05% to get a specific hat, compared to 5% to getting an item, so it's quite a measly chance to get a hat.

you find em randomly, but quite rare and when you do you get the notification that you found one then press M and equip it

its not to do with score i think, i got lucky like that but i got more, i got 8-15 hats (most heavys) in 5 mins, if you don't believe me, i'll try make a video of all my hats. my mate said that this glitch is called a steam cloud fart, its when the steam cloud completly messes up and gives you loads of stuff
