  • Great video young man, keep shooting and keep learning.

  • @wigm Thanks you!

  • this is not a beginner strobist...580 is top of the line...

  • @omumaro That can be substituted for a cheaper flash. everything else is cheap. Also, many people already have ttl flashes in their kit that they use on camera. If that's the case, you would only need to buy the other stuff.

  • I don't think that this kit for beginners.

  • If i have a 7D and a speedlite 430 EX II, i wouldn't necessarily need the radio trigger would I?

  • what are you using for your backdrop in the pics

  • @Bruhbruh1127 no backdrop. just walls

  • Nice shirt.........and Video !

  • What do you do if your umbrella bracket has a hotshoe? How do you attach the radio triggers to the hotshoe (considering the fact that there's no tripod thread on the bracket)...

  • Can you post the links to all the parts you used in your video like the umbrella and the umbrella holder, etc. Thanks! :D

  • @BnVFXProductionsHD I'm gonna have a newer video up soon! I'll post the links to the stuff on the new video :D

  • gano kana katagal nag strobist?

  • Hi, you say Pocket Wizards are the best triggers on the market right now, I know they are very used, but I also heard that Odin triggers from Phottix are even better... What is your opinion?

Thanks for the video and sharing your knowledge.

  • @javierlocutor if you want ttl then theyre great.

  • @javierlocutor

Paul C. Buff makes in my opinion the best flash triggers on the market. They are reasonably priced and work great. I have never had an issue with miss fire (only when the batteries are dead).

  • Is this method applies to the camera doesn't have a command like Nikon d3100?

  • one thing...instead of using a pc sync cord then you can set your flash into slave mode and use the on board flash to set it off, just make sure that the sensor is facing in a vague direction of the on board one

  • thanks for explaining and showing the stand and umbrella bracket that connects the flash.

    best wishes

  • Wow? I nknow u said you can get this stuf for cheep and u can, but just the set up u showed would cost some one 750 easy? So yes you can do it a lot cheaper, but there r a lot of headaches un less you get good stuff! That is all lol

  • @jtalada the flash hese is the only thing that costs a lot. everything else together is 70-80 bucks.

  • Great video! Have you done a video tutorial of how-to take self portraits? If not can you add it to your video list, please. I see your self portrait photos are really nice and sharp.

  • What type of flashes are those?

  • Genius and always very helpful you are, thank you :)

  • boring

  • mine is not working ttl, its throwing out full power and overexposing the pic. i have to set it on manual to like 1/32 to get a decent pic. whats wrong? thanks

  • Mine zooms, I never know which mm to use though. I sometimes zoom all the way out, but mostly it is just experimenting.

You can get an adaptor, save spending loads on the PC sync port.

  • yeah pinoy!

  • more picture examples please. good job

  • hey why are you wearing a Philippines shirts, are you a Filipino?

  • @SuperFermel stupid cunt

  • @chefdreyu I'm just asking? why your starting to act like a child? your the stupid pea brain of yours

  • what is a Stobist ???

  • You can't use "most" TTL functions with off-camera flash? I have no problems with it using my Nikon SB900's and using either my SC-29 sync cords or SU-800 commander on my D3. PocketWizards support TTL as well....might want to look into the Flex5 or MiniTT.

  • @drouleau i do mention the ste2 for canon, and this was long before the nikon PW flex units. the canon versions were faulty when first released. check out the date of this video, i made it a while back. might make a new. revised one soon.

  • Good deal.....I looked at the YongNuo website after the video, and that would explain lack of TTL.

  • @drouleau yup. also, i tried to mention the more affordable items so that most people could benefit from this video. Thanks for watching! Any recommendation on things i should mention on a revised version of this video?

  • @dipmvideos That's cool. The only thing I might suggest (I've been watching your vids and saw the one with the shoot-through and reflective umbrellas) is an "inexpensive" softbox solution such as the Lumiquest LTp. Granted, they're really only good for smaller objects and a persons face, but they are a great and inexpensive way to really soften the light. Also, gels are another important part of a strobist kit, and very inexpensive as well. Keep up the good work!

  • @drouleau ? well you can on my 7D the camera controls your speedlites from the camera, all working fine.

  • very good video, kid. thanks

  • @utubekhiladi you're very welcome!

  • Thanks bro, great info!

  • I like the light stands you have. How much were/are they? Where can I get them? I like the triggers and the mount for the flash to the stand. Please tell me where I can get these. Thank you

  • How did I get here from watching CoD videos...

  • @SolfierFrontier ahaha :P

  • You're good.

  • @acmoc thanks!

  • Thanks alot for taking the time to create the video.

    I really appreciate it :)

  • @vg4030 you're very welcome!

  • Thanks for the informative tutorial. Sorry, I'm new at this and have a few questions that may seem stupid so excuse me. I wanted to know if you had to change settings on your speedlite and camera after installing the radio triggers? If so, any insight would be appreciated.

  • @mosaic34 settings really need to set depending on the lighting conditions and the look you want. the only advice i can give you is to shoot in manual mode and keep your shutterspeed at the max sync speed or slower.

  • Can I use two or more speed light with different brands?!

  • @Ro0o7LiWa yup!

  • subbed ! great vids bro

  • i thought its dick here haha

  • i've a nikon camera. can i use a canon brand flash off-camera using a radio trigger???? will it work???

  • @liahglask yup!

  • good on you mate, for the great effort u put in

  • @theredrooter thanks! i know the video is a little iffy in some parts, but i'm trying to improve with every succeeding one! thanks for watching!

  • ayos boy I like ur vid ,,,,,,,,,,,, ako silver bounce umbrella eh san ka bmible nang flashhes mo?

  • "Most" slr today camera do not have a PC sync port. Only the prosumer and pro cameras do. There are more amateur level slr out there than high end stuff.

Cheapest way is using the photo slave....free, if it's built into the flash. PC Sync cord +10.00 and up.

Do a search for Joe McNally and "CLS" Creative Light System. Able to control the power output of flashes from the camera, no walking, no reaching, just bliss of adjustment from where you stand.

    I bought 15yr old flashes, 3 for 50.00.

  • sounds like you're just repeating David Hobby's spiel...but all in all good job. Better though to use pesos instead of dollars...

  • sounds you're just repeating David Hobby's spiel...but all in all good job

  • Do you have a flickr?

  • @drummerdominicjordan link is on my channel!

  • I have used canon and nikon gear over the last 6 years. Watching the segment on transmitters reminds me why I love my nikon now. So much hassle I had with transmitters when now I can just turn on a setting in the camera

  • @DaKillaKiwi the higher end cameras with no pop up flash will not give you that feature.

  • @dipmvideos the cls function goes can be found in professional nikon's also, D700... Nikon's have just integrated their flashes better in their line up and it makes using their speedlights much more convenient.

  • lisp much? lol jk

  • Prices please. Other than that, good jod dude.

  • I like ur shirt.....

  • hi, do you happen to know the type of flash and trigger that would match my nikon d5000?

  • hi with the 580 ex II and a canon setup couldnt you use the internal wireless trigger to trigger the flash ?

  • @myaadraal the 5D mark 2 doesnt have that functionality. i really wish it did though.

  • Comment removed

  • @dipmvideos Ah .. i thought they had it too seeing they came out almost at the same time.. My bad..

anyways keep the videos coming .. today i bought the 580 ex II after careful consideration.... your videos helped me decide..thanks

  • @myaadraal yeahhh i really with they had included it on the 5D! have fun with your new flash!

  • do you have some form of mic attached to your camera? I think you should get one because at the start it was hard to hear you, but when you could actually stand near/closer to the camera, you could hear yourself more. Nice vids but :)

  • @xxgwyloxx thanks! yeah, i'l really considering getting a better mic for my future recordings!

  • @dipmvideos that would be good because it will balance out how good your vid is with not only nice visual, but good audio

  • Wow pare ayos videos mo!

  • Good information but please be more enthusiastic in your new videos cause it was hard to stay on this video. But regardless good job and thnx for the info.

  • Do you live next to a race track? There's always a car revving up in the background. :P

  • What can you say about the Phottix Atlas.

  • @allancamarillo i'm sorry , i havent got to try that one yet. looks good though.

  • @allancamarillo i like the phottix atlas. the price is nice and they works perfect

  • @profineger

Thanks for the reply. You think the Atlas will work with Sekonic L758DR?

  • @allancamarillo I'm sorry, but I don't know

  • hahaha you dont really know much about lightning hahaha read more!

  • @alvaroakd are you serious? what makes you say that? have you seen any of my strobist style photos?

  • @alvaroakd why do you this ?

  • @alvaroakd WTF is so funny?? Grow up,, we all start with no knowledge,, its a learning process... atleast DIPMVIDEOS had enough sense to make a simple vid on the bare basics for anyone to get started into the strobist world.. Grow up, seriously....

  • nice video. Keep them coming.

  • @macktysontv thanks man!

  • at least the guy's considerate enough to share what he knows...y don't u just appreciate the fact that he's better than ur detracting asses... i commend you dude keep it up

  • @d3vilm3cv thanks for watching though :P

  • @d3vilm3cv i know that. what made you think i didnt know that? i specifically mentioned in the video that you didnt need a 400 dollar flash to do this.

  • should i get the 460ii or the 465? idont know which one to get. i have a canon 550d/t2i. what is ttl because the 465 has it but 460ii doesnt

  • @enwordsand

I presume you are talking about Yongnuo flashes. The 460ii Is the more powerful flash but is completely manual, If you don't already know how to use manual flash this can be a bit daunting but it is certainly worth it this a good little strobist flash get it off camera and play around!

The 465 has eTTL which is an AUTOMATIC flash system, although it also has manual power settings. TTL is essentially a point and shoot system but you loose a great deal of control over your image.

  • nice vid, theres nothing wrong with the sound when i listened to it keep posting.

  • @thetot63 thanks! :D

  • Hey dude, So I ordred a RF602 set (transmitter + recceiver) I have a 430exII...I also have a (spare) velbon tripod that I dont use. Im just wondering would I be able to attatch cgi.ebay.ca/360-Swivel-Flash-Stand-Blacket-Umbrella-Holder-C-type-/320445844977?

    cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4a9c0f8df1

To my tripod, So I can stick in an umbrella and my flash?

    Lemme know plz

    Thanks!

  • Dude, you seem to know your stuff, but please speak up. With my stereo full blast I still couldn't make out what you're saying. Keep posting stuff.

  • @LeonidAlexander thanks! ill make sure to speak up in my next videos!

  • nice vid... whats your input to YN465?? just ordered it and a rf-602

  • @toffetots i really like yongnuo's products, and i love how they are priced so that many if us who have tight budgets can afford them. i think that flash and trigger will be a good way to get into using your flash off camera. i've heard many good things about the YN465. good luck, and be sure to let me know how it goes!
