@chrisgeorgegray in what insane world do live where ninja were samurai? they were opressed peasants basically revolting against the system, which is why they practised arts contradictory to the ideals of bushido - the samurai 'code of honour' in a sense
@SlightlyTipsyPenguin Erm... They weren't peasants... Hanzo Hattori was a samurai, the idea that Ninja were peasants was a made up concept, Massaki Hatsumi and the Bujinkan the biggest Ninjutsu organization recognize this, its a true fact.
@chrisgeorgegray I do to but there is a major difference between practing an art that involves more than reading some internet site, which are subject to someone's option and actually going and see it for your self or studing under someone who has been there and teaches truely what they have been taught.
@mypeanut1975sc Research from genuine credited experts not internet sites, so me reading Massaki Hatsumi Soke's books who is a genuine Ninjutusu expert and teacher is not the same as going and asking him face to face... Me reading a book by Soke Hatsumi is better than watching your National Geographic documentaries.
You do realize that Hanzo Hattori was a real person (the ninja pics at beginning) and you could have put him in the famous peeps area.....But a really good vid! :) I love kusarigamas.........Yay
dood love the video that you made and i have a kama thats destined to become a kusarigama so im lookin foward to watchin mor of ur vids and i subscribed to give you the credit u deserve for makin this vid TY
pretty cool vid, I would have put more emphasis on the striking aspects of the kusari, but there are many techniques for entangling opponents, so they deserve focus too. Good job :)
In Germany Kusarigamas with Chains are illegal because they are classified as "choking tools". This is also the reason why the Kyoketsu Shoge was banned last year. Ninjutsu Students have to replace the chain with a rope in order to learn the use of this weapon.
besides, my next video planned will be how to make a kusarigama, and after that, start demonstrating some techniques against swords and spears. out of curiosity, what did you use for a weight? And did you use a rope or chain?
Again. Ninja's were NOT peasants.

To me the most famous kusarigama wielder is that dude from the first Rurouni Kenshin opening.

kind of takes away from the vibe of the other artwork.
anyway, great video. it helped inspire me to turn my kama into a kasurigama yesterday. (only had one anyway)

i have both a chain and a length of nylon cord for it, but I just had to try the chain first.( quite dificult adjusting length etc.)
as a weight i just grabbed a hackey sack ball and put it in a sock for now.
turned out that it's a bit too light for on a metal chain, but i think it will be fine for cord.
I wanna get/ make a propper sandbag type weight.

great video!
nice combination of atmosphere and information.
I 'd prefer it without the videogame type images though.
