  • I was playing this from a ps2 emulator and it has no sound glitches but occasional lag spikes even though most of the game is smooth. There is just one other problem with it. On one large corner of the screen the game is being mirrored. I don't know what is causing it but it's annoying.

  • This emulation is just painful to watch

  • Could you imagine playing this with the Kinect?

  • well it's no big deal he's not sharing the script. If you wanna have real fun get a dreamcast for $30 and play it like that. With the lag motion controls are not worth it

  • great music! is this aphex twin?

  • hey cool!

Now try putting the sensobar on your head and control the targeting with head tracking. lol

    nice work!

I play Rez on a Dreamcast with the mouse (easier than the gamepad for me) and it's awesome, but it would be nice to have vibration somehow.

  • irontiger what is your graphics card i have a nvideo graphics card 9300 series,is that powerfull to handle the emulation?

  • I was using either a Radeon 9700 Pro or a Radeon X800XT PE here. But the emulator isn't too graphically demanding. It should run okay on a 9300.

  • Où est le viseur!

  • the sound is messed up

  • 7:26 super trance

  • sounds like the emulation speed is goin up and down

  • This really is a bad emulator. You're aither using Chankast or nullDC v1.5

  • Do you know a good emulator? Just wondering..

  • 1) That was 7 months ago

    2) If he is using Chankast, switch to NullDC.

If he is already using NullDC, use the latest version, 1.0.3, or Beta 1.6

  • its funny how you hold up the control while waiting for it to load.I remember doing that playing street fighter for nes.

  • Why don't you share the script? Information on how to play the game and the script are legal, distributing the game (and _probably_ the emulator) is not. I'd love to have that script, love that game!

  • I think your project is pretty cool, but it just seems to be worse than playing it with an analog stick and the emulation is horrible. But your goal was to make it run (with the wiimote), i suppose, so you really did achieve something^^

  • I came to enjoy playing it with the motion controls, even if it looks sloppy. The worst part was the bugginess of the emulation. An official port with IR-based aiming would play so much better.

  • Can't you do that, with some of the recent Wiimote programs?

  • Without built-in mouse controls (which this emulator didn't support), using the IR sensor to control stuff just feel right. I tried playing Panzer Dragoon with IR control and it was not fun.

  • you know..instead of using the nunchunk..it would be better if you could use the remote to navigate/aim

  • I do. Several times in the video, I disconnect the Nunchuk and aim using the accelerometer in the Wii Remote.

  • sick!

some mad tv bruv! Today you need to upgrade to HD:P

Awesome surround sound (that is what I am talking about). You can feel the beat and bass.

How come some sort of a weird high tremble bass was playing at Area 1? is it just the dreamcast version? because I couldn't hear it in the Rez HD version. Maybe its the surround sound:P

  • I have Rez HD. I enjoy it but would still love to see a Wii port of the game. Sound and vibration feedback in the controllers, and IR-based aiming would be awesome.

  • there is a vibration feedback for the 360 controller, go to Help & Options, and config the Settings and Controller.

    Use: Glare+Cave:P

  • I know. But the combination of vibration and in-hand audio would enhance the synaesthetic experience of this already cool game.

  • You're using the Nunchuck to aim? Isn't that completly pointless?

  • The game is pointerless. Meaning the aim is controlled by an analog stick or digital pad, instead of more fluid mouse-style movement. If the player prefers to use the joystick controls, he can connect a Nunchuk and play traditionally. If the player likes the motion controls as I've implemented them, he need only play with no Nunchuk attached.

  • REZ OWNS ^^ I Have played it on dreamcast ;)

  • IT SHUD B ON DA WII

  • Agreed!

  • Mmm...GlovePIE...

  • i kind of like how the emulator is tripping over the sound like that, sounds more like autechre than club music

  • Wow, excellent computer monitor. And... excellent game. AND... excellent wiimote controls. Wow, you must be on a roll.

  • its a shame the wiimote is so spastic and inaccurate.... makes the game no fun to play.. (this is not hard to do) i perfer the nunchuck inputs over the wiimote motion sensor.

what emulator are you using.... the slowdown is unbearable... bleh

  • I'm sure I could make it work better if I could emulate a mouse input instead of digital button/key presses. But even as is, I enjoyed playing this and didn't find it to be "spastic" or inaccurate.

  • hmm... is the lag from between the wiimote and the input really noticable? its one reason i stopped using my sixaxis... theres a slight (about a quarter second delay) thats really noticable... (its like if you tried to play guitar hero with a lag.. youd miss some notes and it would be really annoying) otherwise... good job... (i had an idea similar but with sixaxis motion control... just cant seem to get it running on my pc)

  • The new version of GlovePIE supports the SIXAXIS, and I've just posted a couple videos of it in action. There's no noticeable lag in either the wired SIXAXIS or the Bluetooth-connected Wii controller, or else I couldn't play Street Fighter with them.

  • hehehehehe fake.

  • To what are you referring?

  • fake

  • Only as fake as every other video I've posted.

  • non

  • Thanks

  • si si

  • big deal a wii remote !!

  • Ohhh you can play it on PC ? Awesome, I just bought a PS2 basically just for that game (ok two others too that don't run too good anymore on recent PC) but I'd love to play it with a mouse rather than a pad :-)

  • I've got the PS2-version, it's interesting to see that one can play a Dreamcast-game on his wii. But I'm sorry to tell you that you officialy raped the game. Rez is an experience that should not be played on an emulator and definitly not on a wii using an emulator. The game's sound and 'feel' (rumble) were what made the game so special, next to the unique graphics. You're only playing 1/3 of what used to be an A-OK game dude. How about doing some stuff the legal way next time?

  • Firstly, I'm playing it on PC using a Wii Remote. It's a proof of concept based on prior work, controlling the PC version of Panzer Dragoon in a similar manner.

  • Second, I'm a big fan of Tetsuya Mizuguchi's work, so "what it's all about" isn't lost on me. I have another set of videos for Lumines (that I haven't yet posted on YouTube) in which I use an add-on peripheral to extend the synesthetic experience much like the trance vibrator did on the PS2 version of ReZ. But to say that the vibration is an integral part of gameplay is wrong.

  • The game originated on the Dreamcast, where vibration was not standard, and it was compatible with the Dreamcast mouse which had no tactile feedback at all. The synesthesia is an enhancement, not integral, because you can mute your TV and unplug your trance vibrator and still enjoy the gameplay.

Third, I have the Dreamcast version of this game, and do play it legally, in its original form.

  • Please don't troll ppl who actually done some work Arquzed just because you can't be bothered doing it doesn't mean he is allowed to do. Especially if he OWNZ the game its perfectly legal to do so. SO STFU and stop Trolling newfag.

  • Oh and on the second note you are trolling even if your saying you ain't. You didn't kindly ask how he done it or did he own a copy, you promptly assumed that he doesn't own a copy and you balantly stated he raped the game where as he is exploring other ways to play the game in a unique and fun way so learn to ask for facts before accusing him.

  • If he has the game legaly, good for him, but keep it on your console, OK? So, you can call me a 'newfag' (dude, again, what the hell?) all you want, but I will not take back what I said.

  • lol, life isn't about getting laid apparently to normal people it is and if you don't know where I got the term newfag you really need to learn to lurkmore its quite a common term if you know how to google. If he owns the game he can do what the hell he want. Emulators are for lazy bums? Ok show me an emulator you have created if its sooo easy to make and get a cheap buck off of and I bet IronTiger would like to see this easy Emulator on a Dreamcast that you've made.

  • lol. you can tell its the emulated version too. rez emulated is so broken in the sound effects.. like half the sounds and beats wind up missing

  • O Yeah! REZ on Wii would be GREAT.

  • wii + rez = game of the year contender. no joke.

  • I agree. I'm feeling like playing it again right now. Maybe updating the script with IR pointing.

  • what's the objective?

    look like pretty cool

  • Pretty much just to get to the end of the level. Replay value is in challenging yourself to destroy more enemies and with longer chains. But really, the game is a work of art. This emulation doesn't do the game justice, because the music and graphics are perfectly integrated to compliment the gameplay, and those elements are kinda broken in this video.

  • it is quite evident that he used NullDC :D

  • I honestly don't remember.

  • Chankast?

i tried the nullDC version and it goes quite better

  • Chankast pwns the shit out of nullDC. only problem is that your cpu get's fucked up.

  • infact that's a big problem, i have a 3.20ghz core speed and the chankast doesn't work very well, for my pc, the NullDC goes almost perfect speed and sound

  • weird? i use chancast and it runs on 58/60 all the time. i use version 6.0 alpha.

  • lol, you admit to use what in most places is considered a illegal copy of the game, but won't share a legal piece of code to use with it Xp

  • I'm not trying to rouse interest in acquiring the game illegally. What I'm trying to do is show how it could possibly be played if the game were to be ported or remade on the Wii.

  • Could you at least say what emulator you used?

  • No.

  • major ass!

  • Use the pointer functionality! GlovePIE can do the IR, so use it! It's much better, and they have a counter strike script with perfect mouse control.

  • I tried it for my Panzer Dragoon script and didn't like it at all. I'm comfortable with how it plays using the accelerometer, but I may revisit my IR code some day and try to make it enjoyable.

  • Who cares if the remote doesn't work correctly with Rez? The game is emulated so horribly it wouldn't make a difference even if it DID work.

  • QFT.

  • "I will not be sharing the script..." how sad.

  • that... is so freakin badass

  • I would so buy a Wii if they made this game for it.

  • I think this, potentially, could lead to the Wiimote being touted as an FPS fans most fun device on PC. I know I sure would love to play some FPS titles like HL2 and such with the motion capability.

  • Without the actual motion sensitivity, the Wiimote looks incredibly clunky to use.

  • Not sure what you mean. Without motion sensitivity, the Wiimote can use the IR sensor or d-pad/digital buttons for input. When I attach the Nunchuk (which disables the motion sensing), I'm using the analog stick on that for psuedo-analog control.

  • What I meant was: When using just the Wiimote, it doesn't look like it's using the motion sensing like how it's used in games like Red Steel or Call Of Duty. You're not using the motion sensing to "point" the crosshair like a gun or something; it's acting more like a joystick than anything.

Personally, I think this is a great idea, but it needs a bit more tweaking.

  • In that sense, you're correct. The games you mentioned use the IR sensor on the front of the Remote to move the reticle around the screen. My script is essentially emulating rapid presses of the keyboard keys, since the console emulator I'm running doesn't have support for mouse input. If it had mouse support, I might have been able to use the IR sensor like I do in my House of the Dead 3 videos.

  • I'd love to think this is real...but when using the motion control, the movement of the targeter on screen seems to be completely out of sync with the movement of the Wiimote. Is this down to the emulation and/or glovepie though? Because anyone with a Wii knows the movement on screen is instantaneous with the movement of the Wiimote.

  • My script emulates key presses on a keyboard, and there's variable delays between them depending on the degree of the angle at which I hold the Remote or push the joystick. It looks laggy, but it doesn't feel that way while playing.

  • This is an awesome little game, I'm glad you found a way to emulate it on the Wii.

  • It's being emulated on the PC, and I'm using GlovePIE and a custom script I wrote to play it with a Wii Remote connected via Bluetooth.

  • Like others said, it's sucks that you're only using the analog stick and the button. But since I'll never ever be able to to that kind of stuff, good job! (would have been 10x better with the motion sensor).

  • As I've said over and over again, I'm not just using the analog stick. When I unplug the Nunchuk, I'm using motion control.

  • To my knowledge, the emu doesn't support a mouse, but I'll look into it. However, foregoing IR support makes it easier for me to play games on various computers, since I don't have a portable Sensor Bar. Of course, I'd hope for an official Wii port or sequel to make use of the Sensor Bar which comes with all Wii consoles.

  • Rez has support for the Dreamcast mouse...why use the analog stick?

I don't know if the emulator has mouse support, though...

  • Big deal. From what I see, all you are doing is using the joysticks/dpads/buttons on the Wiimote and nunchuck in place of the joysticks/buttons of the DC controller. It dosent look like the motion sensing is being used at all. Lame.

  • Look again, motion sensing works, just like in my Panzer Dragoon videos.

  • Thanks! And despite the bugginess of the emulation, it's a blast to play with the Wii Remote.

  • Don't worry, others will make a better script. It's nice you showed this, but not a reason for not sharing the GlovePIE stuff.

It seems you used an emulator with buggy sound emulation, making this game be a lot less awesome than it is :P

  • Being that the script is a minorly modified version of my Panzer Dragoon one, anyone resourceful enough to get this game running on their PC ought to be able to figure out how to edit a few script lines and play it with the Wii Remote.

  • so sad that you can't share the stuff to do this, looks awesome though

  • ur not sharing cuz its fake dumb girl

  • It's as fake as my other scripts and videos (which is to say, not at all).
