FDR was a lying sack of shit. Read the books written by his closest adviser. He said that Roosevelt was more concerned about his image than anything else. Did you know that Roosevelt was paralyzed in a wheel chair? Watching any of his news reel clips you'd never know. Why??? Because he insisted to never be filmed showing him as handicapped. Are any of you libtards also aware that he locked up innocent Japanese and Germans during WWII?? He stopped freedom of press. The dude was bad to the core.
@Jeetman63 First off. He didn't "lock up" innocent Germans or Japanese citizens for no reason, people in the US were panicking, they discriminated against them for fear of them being spies or worse. FDR wanted to protect these people and stop the chaos. You might disagree but comparing this to concentration camps is beyond ignorant. Also, FDR was always worried about his image because if he was shown on a wheelchair the US would appear weak to the Axis powers. You dont get it??
@Jeetman63 Wow, I'm looking at your comments and all I see is insulting nicknames, profanity and just plain ignorance. I really dont know why people would even waste their time commenting on you. So what if he was handicap...he was a strong leader that helped the county when it was in bad shape. But anyway you can go on about your day...I dont give a shit about you or your comments anymore.
Truth of the matter is that I don't believe in any of these things. I believe that FDR's policies - these things he believed in - extended and deepened the Great Depression by 5 years, bringing misery to the very people he claimed he would help. Furthermore, FDR himself was lately come to believing in these things, as he had campaigned - much like Obama - against the big spending of the previous administration and then proceeded to spend far far more.
I wasn't there when the speech was made, but my father and mother were there. They were republicans, but voted for FDR because they knew he was right. The depression would have been much worse had the programs not been implemented. The infrastructure at the time was a disaster except for the trains, which we unfortunately abandoned. If we still had them as they did then we might not be so dependent on oil. Like Obama, he was dealt a really bad hand taking office and did the best he could.
@Chansione REALLY??? Then why was it that the term "Great" depression was only used to describe the depression that the United States went through? Europe also went through a depression but it wasn't called a great one. Why? Look it up libtard. it's because FDR's polices PROLONGED the depression. Just as ODUMBO's polices are prolonging our economic situation. IS stopping energy production of coal (electricity) and oil drilling a good thing for an economy or a bad thing? Use your head!
@Jeetman63 Yes, there was a depression in Europe, too. The whole world was effected. Yet, the rich who could afford left the US for Europe. Interesting. By the way, oil drilling has actually increased during Obama's presidency. More applications for drilling have been approved by Obama than during the entire Bush years. President Obama has also been a supporter of clean energy. I grew up in coal country and have seen the effects of over mining, strip mining, and acid rain. Have you?
Where is our "New Deal"! We need a leader with as much class, intelligence, courage and the desire to help the people, no matter what their wealthy kind wanted, whether crony nor opponent.
It's coming. Obama recently signed the NDAA into law, allowing the military to indefinitely detain American citizens without due process. Just like how FDR signed the Japanese internment order, stripping Japanese Americans of their constitutional rights with no due process, detained them like suspected terrorists, and treated them like animals. They are both pretty similar
In other words it was FDR's earlier policies placed on steroids. It placed a great financial burden on this nation but the resulting wealth that it created was enough that we were on our way to paying off that debt. If there had been no war and the Government had done the exact same thing the economic results would have been the same. Just less loss of life. However without the war there wouldn't have been the will power to preform what was essentially the largest stimulus package ever.
I've seen alot of nonsense here about FDR extending the Great Depression. When of course everyone knows what got us out of the depression was World War II. Now what was WWII in strictly economic terms? It was the largest single expenditure of money by this country ever. It was a massive government program that purchased warships, aircraft and all the necessities of war. Including the single largest employment of men directly by the Government, including massive education program aka the GI bill
Do you want the Republican Congress to help the country. Here is how:
Farm Subsidies...GONE, Afghanistan, YOU'RE FIRED. Iraq, YOU'RE FIRED, Egypt, YOU'RE FIRED, Mexico, YOU'RE FIRED. Pakistan, YOU'RE FIRED. Isreal, YOU HAVE 5 DAYS TO CLEAN OUT YOUR DESK. YOU'RE FIRED.
I just saved the country about 50 billion dollars in less than three minutes. But then again the Republicans don't have the balls to do anything unless it deals with abortion, flag burning or gay marriage.
It sounds a lot more like warning about modern democrats, he speaks of people saying that low unemployment and such will be promised to be delivered by the otherside with no cost. today republicans believe in paying for things before you spend, unlike democrats, Obama specifically, go and look at the facts, P.S. do not bother replying to this comment as I do not have the time as maybe you do, to flame and troll on the internet to random people.
FDR was a horrible president. He didn't care about the Constitution or our constitutional rights. He signed the Japanese internment order, which detained Japanese Americans indefinitely, stripping away their constitutional rights, especially their right to due process and equal treatment under the law. And here I see people praising him? Disgusting. He's like the Obama of today, False Hope and lack of understanding of what got us into this mess.
Long live the Kings: FDR, JFK, Lincoln and Reagan - The greatest presidents this country has had since the civil war - Like whether your a democratic or a republican
FDR was over rated. What did he do? The only reason why he stayed in office for 4 terms is because no one was allowed to publicly speak against him. Not to mention his 4 term hording of power. He did not get us out of the depression, as a matter of fact his policies kept us in it longer. The best thing that FDR did as president was die.
@rangers94ism I'm sorry, I don't recall hearing about FDR suspending freedom of speech. This is certainly news to me. If anything, his four terms show us how popular he was, since he was able to maintain that kind of support for so long. Of course, the American people could have voted for whoever they wanted, but the majority preferred FDR. As to him lengthening the Depression, this is debatable. However, he at least tried to do something, which is more than can be said for his predecessor.
The Greatest President of the 20th Century, Hero to the Common American, Traitor to the 1%...
America, needs a President like him now more than ever to tell of the 1% traitors and Wall Street worshiping crooks in Washingtion that their days of kleptcratic/plutocracy are OVER!!!
Progressives always win: woman's right to vote, interracial marriage, social security, the 5 day work week. Conservatives want to stick us back in the18th century. Maybe you should go there s9
Fascism is a right-wing movement (well, duh). And GM has not been "nationalized." It is, however, once again #1 in the world. Right-wingers hate all Obama's successes, from salvaging the economy from the Bush catastrophe to ordering the death of bin Laden after the Bush team took its eye off the ball and waged a trillion-$ war of choice based on faulty intelligence and outright lies.
@Senehtsotara Too bad Bush started the auto bailouts. Obama is no different than Bush. I guess vote for Obama if you like the fact we can get detained with no trial/lawyer and be held indefinitely. You need to wake up man, not trying to ridicule, but Obama is a fascist look at the legislation being passed, now drones are going to be patrolling American soil. How do you feel that he signed NDAA, Patriot Act, Prolly gonna sign Enemy Expatriation, and he's for ACTA? He is not what you think
It's beyond imagination that even with the internet to relay facts there are still those seriously clueless voters that support the party that does everthing in it's power to support the wealthy while taking from the working class... facts are facts (then we have 'republican' facts born in fantasy land, over the rainbow ect... it's staggering!)
Hoover massively increased government spending, and raised taxes and tariffs. In other words, he was a statist, just like Obama, just like FDR. And yes, we get it with the 1% garbage. You're jealous of successful people and think it's the system's fault your a pothead loser. So you fantasize about stealing money from the people who earned it.
@s9z9s Obama has lowered taxes to pre 60's levels for the working class so thats a big fail for your comment, he's also kept many of his promises (another fail for you) and a socialized sytem works perfectly and results in a safety net for all americans while NOT avocating you lose anything, just like the BS the right spreads.. they are not taking your guns ect.... quite the opposit really as Democrats are the only thing between you and conservative fascism in america
Once again, fascism, which involves nationalizing industries, and a centralized, authoritarian government is the opposite of what we on the right advocate. How can you criticize us for not wanting to nationalize businesses like Chrysler, GM, and AIG, yet call us fascists at the same time? And Obama can't lower taxes, the Congress does. I don't know where you're getting your numbers from either.
And no, the socialized system isn't working. Social Security is in the red and we're having to add to our deficit to pay for it, and it combined with Medicare and Medicaid, cost us over twice as much as military spending.
@26yearstoorion There is no difference between democrats and republicans. How can you not call Obama a fascist? Goldman Sachs cabinet, NDAA, Re-signed Patriot Act, Enemy Expatriation, ACTA, and now drones can patrol America. Come on man, please please please understand that he is no different than Bush, and the rest of the clowns running are no different either. Maybe, just maybe Ron Paul can make a difference... The only one to say government is in bed with corporations...
@s9z9s Finally someone who knows there history!! the Hoover to FDR switch is iconic to the Bush to Obama switch. It baffles me that Obama zombies still support him when there is no difference between he or Bush. He recycled all his programs!! The auto bailouts were even Bush's!!!! WTF, we're goin down hard....
Can't believe how warped history is and how praised this guy is. FDR is probably the second worst president after Woodrow Wilson. For the President's job is to enforce the laws and the Constitution. Just because he "acted" does not mean he did anything to help the economy of the 30's and just made it worse. He was a huge hypocrite because he just continued the policies of hoover himself, the very same policies that plunged us into the Great Depression. He was a barrier to recovery
Fascists are statists. They believe in a highly centralized, authoritarian government. In order words, exactly what the left in this country advocates, and the polar opposite of what conservatives and libertarians stand for.
@s9z9s How did you arrive at that? Conservatives advocate a privatized goverment void of accountability, and thats just the opposit of what they claim and to belive otherwise proves your facts lack truthful information. as a liberal i only care about the facts and the way things truly are.
Bush did far more to drive up the national debt than Obama, and what Obama did was largely to undo Bush's catastrophe.
From 2001 to 2009, Bush's policies, including two wars, higher Pentagon spending in addition to those wars, tax cuts, higher discretionary spending and the prescription drug program contributed $5.1 trillion to the nation's debt.
From 2009 to 2017, projections show Obama's policies have added or will add $983 billion.
Was he talking about Mitt Romney?! Jeez louise it's as if he was psychic or something! If I didn't know about the Southern Dixiecrats of that time i'd say the Repugs were always crazy.
FDR was wise beyond his time. Sadly, the corporatists who run America today have managed to fool a large section of the population who are blind to what is going on.
Oh, yeah, it's just a "coincidence" that every time the economy completely tanks it's on a Republican's watch (Hoover, W) who has massively plutocratic polices.
@Senehtsotara Really becaue the worthless piece of shit in the whitehouse right now runing our country is a democrat. George Bush increased our national debt 5 trillion in 8 years Obama has matched that number in only 3 so who is the one tanking the economy?
@Senehtsotara Oh no... it was the privious Democrat that caused those collapses during those Republican regimes, Clinton was holding a gun to G.W's head saying " start a war then cut the taxes needed to pay for it" :-p (remember... neo nuts are always right, we are always wrong and Jesus was a Republican)
The economy tanked on account of left-wing government intervention into the housing market. With the Community Reinvestment Act, banks were forced to give out subprime loans, often without regard to credit score or income. Then the government pumped money into the housing market by way of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac and the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, further distorting the market. Subsequently, the derivatives massively magnified the risk.
@26yearstoorion We can follow the money to Obama's Goldman Sachs cabinet. What do you say about that? Obama is no different than Bush. He recycled all his policies....
@Senehtsotara Hoover actually perpetuated the problem, Roosevelt continued his policies. Most everyone will say the opposite, he is regarded as a "do nothing capitalist" which is quite the contrary. A good book to read is "Americas Great Depression" - Murray Rothbard
It's not about who's Republican or Democrat. It's about who's for big government and who's for small government.FDR and Hoover were both for big government and their policies prolonged the depression
@torg1 That's a myth taught by public schools. The depression ended after the war when government cut spending by about 60% and cut taxes by about 30%. The War actually made it a lot worse. Presidential candidate Ron Paul actually lived through World War 2 and the great depression, and he says that America was actually worst off when the war started.
@Senehtsotara 22 consecutive months of job growth???? OOOhhh you must be talking about all the jobs obama and his friends have sent to china. I bet your going to cry when obama isnt even allowed on the ballet in 2012.
Its hilarious to see these fools saying that after 3 yrs of obama that everything is still Bush's fault. If you ever wanted to know how the media gets away with the blatant lies they tell, this is case and point. Bush was a no good piece of shit, but Obama makes Bush's pile of shit look and smell like roses. Obama can piss down the back of these loony liberals all day and they would swear to the world that it was rain. Gop and Dems both need to be put on trial for their crimes against America.

@RIPhiphop00sly BREAKING NEWS...(CNSNews.com) – So far, during the presidency of Barack Obama, the price of a gallon of gasoline has jumped 83 percent, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics
@246alive BREAKING NEWS...(CNSNews.com) – So far, during the presidency of Barack Obama, the price of a gallon of gasoline has jumped 83 percent, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics...
@jaiba41 That has absolutely nothing to do with the presidency of Barack Obama. There may be a correlation between Obama's presidency and the price of gas, but there is absolutely no causation involved. The price of gasoline is complex, and it is not something that the President can "make" go up or down.
@246alive Saying Bush wrecked the economy is like saying that Hoover caused the Great Depression. It's illogical... the economy is cyclical. People just blame whoever is in power whenever the cycle turn sour.
@cmgrace328 The crash wasn't caused because the U.S. has a large debt. The U.S. debt has numbered in the trillions of dollars for decades. The U.S. has been in more expensive and longer wars in the past too. Large causes of this meltdown include the repeal of Glass-Steagall (under Clinton), as well as unscrupulous practices on wall street and by banks. Bush didn't "cause" the downturn, but people like you won't stop blaming him for the current economic imbroglio.
That's the opposite of the republican view......BIG Welfare is a lefty moon-bat idea used to combat their enemy....the market. What they expect to happen is that the flaws of mankind will submit to taking a handout instead of working, and not feel bad about it.
The idea is to keep people dependent on the politicians instead of earning a living. The welfare recipient will then naturally vote for whoever will raise their check, and then cause strife between "poor & rich", divide and conquer.
We are so use to FDR being portrayed as this wooden plaster saint, or the somber war leader, that we forget that he actually had a sense of humor and could be funny when he wanted to....
Yes, Republicans are getting laughed at by Democrats. Then again, adults are always getting laughed at by children. Responsible leadership is often mocked.
@dantesian Er, no. When I said "children" I wasn't referring to FDR, I was referring to you. BTW, since you're a fan of a good man like FDR, check out what he said about government employees being represented by unions.
@dave4248 Personal attacks? All I did was poke fun at your comment. Both FDR's point and humor smack distinctly of maturity. On your second point, I assume you're talking about his letter of congratulations to a federal employee's union in which he opposes strikes by federal workers against the federal government, while supporting their right to fair pay. Those interested can see more by googling dailykos fdr wisconsin
@dave4248 ....AND WHEN THE RETHUGLICONS EVER SHOW ANY RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP, THEY TOO, MIGHT BE LAUGHED AT. IN THE MEANTIME, LET'S YOU AND I LAUGH AT THEM JUST THE SAME, SHALL WE ?
The party of wars? You mean like in Libya and Kosovo? And don't you realize that the TEA Party, which you leftists denigrated, was about flushing out these big government, hypocrite Republicans? Is the reason you all hated the TEA Party so much that you realized in the end, that you were peas in a pod with the neo-cons?
@socaliguy81 LOL... 'smaller government' is nothing more that a bigger, privatized one void of accountibility and ALWAYS ends up costing taxpayers more money. (just look at Florida's privatized prisons for a perfect example THEN notice the arrest rate in Florida for the stupidest shit, also notice the inmate populations, Privatization is fascism period... but still they manage to get simple minded voters to support it by telling lies that are easily proven false! WTF?)
Ron Paul is just another Texas Republican. He is out of alignment with Republicans on foreign policy, but beyond that he is actually to the right of most Republicans. He is anti-Civil Rights, anti-women's rights, anti-gay rights, anti-workers' rights, anti-regulation, and anti-global warming (calling scientific consensus a "hoax"!). Ron Paul's son Rand is every polluter's best friend in the Senate. And that's exactly what Ron would be in the White House. But he's never getting there.
It is not hard to find the facts that support the premise that the republicans were at the center of the economic, social and international disorder the world has become. Why then do they state that they want to "fix" it, when they orchestrated it in the first place! Why do they take the moral high-ground, yet dance with the devil! Do the majority of people actually vote with clear-headed intelligence, or does fear and ideology prevail.
The last time Republicans were in charge we had a trillion-$ war based on lies, the failed response to Katrina, tax cuts for fat cats that drove up the deficit but failed to produce jobs, the biggest terrorist attack in history, the GREAT RECESSION, and a House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay, who is now where he belongs, in prison.
well it happens this way every four years, for each side, so suck it who cares, i prefer a politician who stands up for his beliefs anyway (this is a pun)
I am NOT a Democrat OR a Republican. I side with our Founding Fathers on it ALL. It was said by the LAST Constitutional and Great Democrat; “Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future. ”
― John F. Kennedy_____(Obama has failed miserably on all of these and all other accounts. and he's a sloppy opportunist.)
The above speech mad by FDR is like a prophecy of Obama's term in office. He just didn't add that our children are in debt for generations and generations to come. We are screwed if that "boy" get's another term. SCA_REWED!!!!!
In reality FDR's policies, along with Hoover's policies, simply prolonged the Great Depression. Not to mention that his brand of so-called progressivism was the inspiration for National Socialism and Mussolini's fascism.
Obama-Wanting the rich less rich I won’t bother to see the Meryl Streep portrayal of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. It can’t be accurate or fair given the political predilections of Hollywood. Obozo, meanwhile, with his unprecedented practice of class warfare, clearly wants the rich to be less rich—at least the ones who aren’t his cronies. But, as the real Thatcher so eloquently puts it here, "that’s only a surefire prescription for making the poor poorer".
@imaginarythings #2) Poorer, yes, but *equally* poorer. Thus creating a level playing field?
Hmm. Level for how long? Until the tax money runs out. Only private money can create more money. The poor and the government only consume it until it’s gone. ...Soooo......We will ALL wind up on an "equal playing field" of ALL being poor. Flat Broke!
~ Like the ol' saying: The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. ~Winston Churchill (Now THAT is Obama's "Equal Playing Field"!!!!)
@imaginarythings wow... I mean seriously care to address your points without character assassination, or taking quotes out of context? Where is this original Thatcher quote anyways?
I mean the crap that you post just clearly shows misguided biases to whatever agenda you're trying to promote. People on youtube need to start calling shit like this out more often.
I don't usually do this, but you just spammed this entire wall with your crap. It's completely misleading.
@imaginarythings Oh really? Is that why Obama has extended the Bush tax cuts for the rich wasting over 700Billion dollars. The only people who are doing the class warfare are the Rich, who are buying politicians. That is what class warfare is.
@visini14 Class warefare is what Karl Marx predicted (YET) it never occured. And under normal circumstances (and no nanny state) it never will. ~SO~ Barry-boy created his own class warfare. This is unprecidented. He is an 1)opportunist and an 2)embicile himself. (Please look up those words to get the full empact of them.) Whya don't you run home to yo mamma that never raised you and let her change your diapers. You smell something fierce....lolololol
So you'd somehow say that Obama's "class warfare" is somehow unprecedented... even when Roosevelt tried to raise taxes to 100% at a $100k income bracket...
You, sir, seem very historically informed and omniscient.
@visini14 Here is ANOTHER REASON WE ARE BROKE~Debt added from G. Washington to G. Bush- 6.3 trillion dollars // Debt added by B Obama (3 years)- 6.5 trillion dollars!
AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WERE WARNED: Quote from Norman Thomas "The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." Quote by: Norman Thomas (1884-1968) six-time U.S. Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America Source: 1948 - from an interview during the presidential campaign,
@imaginarythings ...And then Socialism=Communism ~Karl Marx wrote: Socialism is not a form of govrnment but a "state". A policed and engineered state in which the nation takes on in "transition" from a Capitolist to a Communist society.
@imaginarythings WOW.... seriously? Anyone who studies International Affairs knows Karl Marx's Communism does not = Socialism. Socialism and Communism are completely different forms of governance there is no transition. In Accordance to Marx the process of change to Communism is as follows:
Feudalism (Anti-thesis) -> Capitalism (Thesis) = Communism (Synthesis). Between Capitalism and Communism there will (must) be a violent uprising of the proletariat against the bourgeoisie.
@chinabuddy Take it from Karl Marx himself: ~Karl Marx wrote: Socialism is not a form of govrnment but a "state". A policed and engineered state in which the nation takes on in "transition" from a Capitolist to a Communist society.
And Ben Franklin wrote: ~They that would give up essential liberty for temperary security, deserves neither liberty or security, and will get niether one.~ Ben Franklin
@imaginarythings Oh is that right now? Is that why we are one of the most conservative country in the industrialized world, and look where that has gotten us, we aren't even in the top 10 in any field, and the so called "socialist" countries are fighting for first place, while the US keeps falling. Yeah "socialism" is really bad.
Democrats should consider voting in the republican primaries for Ron Paul, based upon the national discussion it could create for the notion of international Peace and corporatism.
Even if they don't vote for him in the general election.
Do you Really want Newt or Romney to run any risk of being president? Really?
A nomination for Ron Paul to be GOP nominee at least keeps the possiblity of a warmonger out of the equation.
@visini14 "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer."
@visini14 Added Debt from G. Washington to G. Bush. 6.3 trillion dollars. Added debt in Obama's 3years 6.5 trillion dollars. There is another reason. Obama's New New Deal is already taking us down the tubes. he will want "Mo' Money" until our country cannot afford the ink to print it with.
@imaginarythings Again, When Bush left office the US debt was over 10.5 Trillion. You are lying get your facts straight. Oh and Obama has not done a New Deal, and even relating it to what FDR did is insulting to FDR. Obama could have been the next FDR but no he decided to become a Republican.
@visini14 Well, even if that is true. If It took over 200 years to reach that 10.5 trillion $ mark, then obama has spent almost half that much in 3 years.lololol When he gets that exrtra 1.5 trillion he wants that'll make it half. Obama will keep wanting money until we run out of funds to buy the ink to print it with...lolol. THAT is his GOAL. To bankrupt our economy. Then he can assume control over all of the needy minions that need help. Oh how sick...AND STUPID TO LET IT HAPPEN!
No, the article is very clear: "Rarely has a myth been so impervious to simple facts.... For the umpteenth time, the Fed’s purchases of Treasuries under the so-called QE2 program have increased bank reserves, but banks have added to their excess reserves rather than creating large amounts of money through lending and investing. The money multiplier—the ratio of the money supply to bank reserves—has remained close to one." -- Forbes
@Senehtsotara If you want to believe that article then that's fine...Just a few things, a money multiplier of one doesn't mean that the fed isn't printing money, it has several meanings. Second, how does the Fed purchase treasuries? The banks and mortgage companies have been failing so where is the Fed's money coming from? Answer: They print it themselves which is the definition of QE= Quantitative Easing. I hope this helps!
He warned us they would become like him.....the most tyrannical president this country has ever seen. Handouts, bailouts, subsidies, and the theft of gold from millions of citizens across the nation. If you'll notice, FDR is quite the idol of the new American Right.
At which point he tried to interfere with the courts, thankfully prevented, once again, by the Constitution. His welfarism, again inspired by European fascism, is another scheme of totalitarian governments, designed to force the people into reliance on the state. FDR proved the point that the Constitution is the only thing that stops democracy in America collapsing into a dictatorship.
FDR was perhaps the greatest politician America ever saw. Keep in mind that a good politician is a dangerous character. He had no real policy, just did what ever he could to get as many votes as he could - a demagogue pure and simple, who sung high praises of Mussolini in the early 30s and then set about laying the groundwork for a fascist state before his bureaucracies were struck down by the supreme court as unconstitutional
Funny coming from someone that made the depression worse and drug us into war with his economic sanctions on Japan, forcing them to act. Anyway.. sure seems that it's the Dems that are telling everyone they can have all those programs without it costing them anything. (They can get those who earned their money to pay for everything so they don't have to.)
he was brillilant. i wish he were around now. i thought maybe Obama could have been another FDR but he too fell to corruption and weak compromise and appeased the chrisitan repugnicant theocrats
@TheEmperorCho you "eejit" those issues weren't even social issues of the times. It's the point of the video and FDR "MOCKING" the Repugnican'ts; you are a typical republican. Not a critical thinker. all surface.
@Senehtsotara I did what you suggested. When I went to Forbes all I saw was, "Monetization of the US debt." Those stupid conspiracy theorists got to Forbes and made him change his headlines. Also, those crazy conspirators made Bernanke admit every few months on CSPAN in FRONT OF CONGRESS, that the FED is printing money. Can you give me another website to justify your claim?
@Senehtsotara I just read it. The title is misleading. His point is printing money doesn't produce inflation, which is the why individuals believe that printing money should stop. He uses a clever, but dangerous formula and misleading words to make his point.Your right, the 'US Bureau of Engraving and Printing' prints the money, but takes its orders from the FED. You should read an article that rebuts this, "The myth that the Fed is Printing Money on sgtreport."
Mitt Romney want a tax hike for everybody making LESS than $40,000. Meanwhile, he wants to cut taxes for the top 1% by an average of $82,188 and for the top .1% by an average of $464,005. All of that would mean adding to the deficit. And we’ve already seen over the past decade that trickle-down DOES NOT WORK. This is simply a plutocratic giveaway to the super-rich at a time when the top 1% already owns 42% of all financial wealth. Making the rich ever richer is the Republican agenda.
@Senehtsotara You seem like a bright person...you saw the discussions below about the fact the fed is printing TRILLIONS of dollars to the top 1% under Obama and all you say is that Romney wants to cut taxes. If Obama really cared about the 99%, he would have printed one trillion and given every American $33,000 bucks. Come on wise up!
Democrat FDR also locked up US citizens without trial without a charge.. Now democrat Obama signed NDAA (google it) so once again US citizens can be held without trial or charges and this bill even allows assassinations if the president oks it.
look up "SOPA" = internet censoring . " SIP" a 19 billion program to make muslims love the USA..also per Obama locater chips in all 2012 cell phones Wake up people!
Democrat FDR also locked up US citizens without trial without a charge.. Now democrat Obama signed NDAA (google it) so once again US citizens can be held without trial or charges and this bill even allows assassinations if the president oks it.

As an American I'm shocked a retard canadian puts their 2 cents in our business.. Also Democrat FDR also locked up US citizens without trial without a charge..
Basically FDR is describing himself and his party T_T Not only was he responsible for "more" of the socialist programs like the infamous Soc.Sec. Ponzi scheme, but for other draining programs which cost so much in waste. Republicans are the ones trying to address waste & CUTTING spending, not doing more for 'free'(?) which is just a liberal's illogical thought process that money can just be printed outta nowhere to pay socialist programs which Reps.&Conservatives are trying to undo.
@RChayes71788 He isn't saying he wasn't responsible for Soc sec, he's saying that all of these things he created to help bring america out of the great depression were working, however he is completely sarcastic when he talks about the "free" part. Republicans said they believed in these things, they just thought they could make them better. ie get rid of them or transform them so they weren't so radical
Are you a Democrat disappointed in Obama? Hate neocons?
Help us do something about it.
Vote for Ron Paul in the GOP primaries, and kick the warmongering neocons out of the race.
Do you really want to run the risk of a Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich for president? Another war? No more Neocons. Show them the majority of america is sick of them.
We welcome your help. Please consider it.
Search "Blue Republican" if you want to know the game plan. Interesting stuff.
Right. The SS Tax that you and your employer pay both come out of your pocket. The matching portion of that tax is actually a reduction in salary as that money would otherwise be paid to you. Given that money to invest for yourself you would do much much better in the long run.
But then the government would not have that money to spread around to get themselves re-elected. In simple terms, the more of your money they take, and that is what they do, the less freedom you have.
can someone transcribe it? i can make out some but not all words ..thanks

Jeetman63 2 days ago
@Jeetman63 First off. He didn't "lock up" innocent Germans or Japanese citizens for no reason, people in the US were panicking, they discriminated against them for fear of them being spies or worse. FDR wanted to protect these people and stop the chaos. You might disagree but comparing this to concentration camps is beyond ignorant. Also, FDR was always worried about his image because if he was shown on a wheelchair the US would appear weak to the Axis powers. You dont get it??
snowman2149 22 hours ago
@Jeetman63 Wow, I'm looking at your comments and all I see is insulting nicknames, profanity and just plain ignorance. I really dont know why people would even waste their time commenting on you.

Chansione 4 days ago 8
@Chansione REALLY??? Then why was it that the term "Great" depression was only used to describe the depression that the United States went through? Europe also went through a depression but it wasn't called a great one. Why? Look it up libtard. it's because FDR's polices PROLONGED the depression. Just as ODUMBO's polices are prolonging our economic situation. IS stopping energy production of coal (electricity) and oil drilling a good thing for an economy or a bad thing? Use your head!
Jeetman63 2 days ago
@Jeetman63 Yes, there was a depression in Europe, too. The whole world was effected. Yet, the rich who could afford left the US for Europe. Interesting. By the way, oil drilling has actually increased during Obama's presidency. More applications for drilling have been approved by Obama than during the entire Bush years. President Obama has also been a supporter of clean energy. I grew up in coal country and have seen the effects of over mining, strip mining, and acid rain. Have you?

It's coming. Obama recently signed the NDAA into law, allowing the military to indefinitely detain American citizens without due process. Just like how FDR signed the Japanese internment order, stripping Japanese Americans of their constitutional rights with no due process, detained them like suspected terrorists, and treated them like animals. They are both pretty similar

WOW!!!.....What a prophetic statement!!....We need another FDR moment!!
dabrotha33 4 days ago
In other words it was FDR's earlier policies placed on steroids. It placed a great financial burden on this nation but the resulting wealth that it created was enough that we were on our way to paying off that debt. If there had been no war and the Government had done the exact same thing the economic results would have been the same. Just less loss of life. However without the war there wouldn't have been the will power to preform what was essentially the largest stimulus package ever.
torg1 5 days ago

IngloriusBastard11 6 days ago 5

FDR was over rated. What did he do? The only reason why he stayed in office for 4 terms is because no one was allowed to publicly speak against him. Not to mention his 4 term hording of power. He did not get us out of the depression, as a matter of fact his policies kept us in it longer. The best thing that FDR did as president was die.
rangers94ism 1 week ago
@rangers94ism I'm sorry, I don't recall hearing about FDR suspending freedom of speech. This is certainly news to me. If anything, his four terms show us how popular he was, since he was able to maintain that kind of support for so long. Of course, the American people could have voted for whoever they wanted, but the majority preferred FDR. As to him lengthening the Depression, this is debatable. However, he at least tried to do something, which is more than can be said for his predecessor.

Not even close.

26yearstoorion 2 weeks ago
@Senehtsotara

@jaiba41 That has absolutely nothing to do with the presidency of Barack Obama. @cmgrace328 The crash wasn't caused because the U.S. has a large debt. The U.S. debt has numbered in the trillions of dollars for decades.

It's completely misleading.
chinabuddy 1 month ago
@imaginarythings Oh really? Is that why Obama has extended the Bush tax cuts for the rich wasting over 700Billion dollars. The only people who are doing the class warfare are the Rich, who are buying politicians. That is what class warfare is.
visini14 1 month ago
@visini14 Class warefare is what Karl Marx predicted (YET) it never occured. And under normal circumstances (and no nanny state) it never will. ~SO~ Barry-boy created his own class warfare. This is unprecidented. He is an 1)opportunist and an 2)embicile himself. (Please look up those words to get the full empact of them.) Whya don't you run home to yo mamma that never raised you and let her change your diapers. You smell something fierce....lolololol

@imaginarythings
So you'd somehow say that Obama's "class warfare" is somehow unprecedented... even when Roosevelt tried to raise taxes to 100% at a $100k income bracket...
You, sir, seem very historically informed and omniscient.

@imaginarythings ...And then Socialism=Communism ~Karl Marx wrote: Socialism is not a form of govrnment but a "state". A policed and engineered state in which the nation takes on in "transition" from a Capitolist to a Communist society.
imaginarythings 1 month ago
@imaginarythings WOW.... seriously? Anyone who studies International Affairs knows Karl Marx's Communism does not = Socialism. Socialism and Communism are completely different forms of governance there is no transition. In Accordance to Marx the process of change to Communism is as follows:
Feudalism (Anti-thesis) -> Capitalism (Thesis) = Communism (Synthesis). Between Capitalism and Communism there will (must) be a violent uprising of the proletariat against the bourgeoisie.
chinabuddy 1 month ago

Plus it irks the neocons.

@visini14 "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer."
-- Thomas Paine

@visini14 Added Debt from G. Washington to G. Bush. 6.3 trillion dollars. Added debt in Obama's 3years 6.5 trillion dollars. There is another reason. Obama's New New Deal is already taking us down the tubes. he will want "Mo' Money" until our country cannot afford the ink to print it with.

@imaginarythings Again, When Bush left office the US debt was over 10.5 Trillion. You are lying get your facts straight. Oh and Obama has not done a New Deal, and even relating it to what FDR did is insulting to FDR. Obama could have been the next FDR but no he decided to become a Republican.
visini14 1 month ago

Senehtsotara 1 month ago
@Senehtsotara If you want to believe that article then that's fine...Just a few things, a money multiplier of one doesn't mean that the fed isn't printing money, it has several meanings. Second, how does the Fed purchase treasuries? The banks and mortgage companies have been failing so where is the Fed's money coming from? Answer: They print it themselves which is the definition of QE= Quantitative Easing. I hope this helps!

At which point he tried to interfere with the courts, thankfully prevented, once again, by the Constitution. His welfarism, again inspired by European fascism, is another scheme of totalitarian governments, designed to force the people into reliance on the state. FDR proved the point that the Constitution is the only thing that stops democracy in America collapsing into a dictatorship.
sweetjones34 1 month ago
FDR was perhaps the greatest politician America ever saw. Keep in mind that a good politician is a dangerous character. He had no real policy, just did what ever he could to get as many votes as he could - a demagogue pure and simple, who sung high praises of Mussolini in the early 30s and then set about laying the groundwork for a fascist state before his bureaucracies were struck down by the supreme court as unconstitutional
sweetjones34 1 month ago
Funny coming from someone that made the depression worse and drug us into war with his economic sanctions on Japan, forcing them to act. Anyway.. sure seems that it's the Dems that are telling everyone they can have all those programs without it costing them anything. (They can get those who earned their money to pay for everything so they don't have to.)

The Fed is NOT "printing money." That is an myth perpetuated by uninformed conspiracy theorists.
Do some research. Forbes is just one of many reputable sources that has debunked this lie.
Senehtsotara 1 month ago
@Senehtsotara I did what you suggested. When I went to Forbes all I saw was, "Monetization of the US debt." Those stupid conspiracy theorists got to Forbes and made him change his headlines. Also, those crazy conspirators made Bernanke admit every few months on CSPAN in FRONT OF CONGRESS, that the FED is printing money. Can you give me another website to justify your claim?
alexandersrevenge 1 month ago
@alexandersrevenge Look up the article "The Myth That the Fed Is Printing Money" in Forbes. It's available online, and the title really says it all.
Senehtsotara 1 month ago

Senehtsotara 1 month ago
@Senehtsotara You seem like a bright person...you saw the discussions below about the fact the fed is printing TRILLIONS of dollars to the top 1% under Obama and all you say is that Romney wants to cut taxes. If Obama really cared about the 99%, he would have printed one trillion and given every American $33,000 bucks. Come on wise up!
