This is why the Getter type Super Robots are the MOST badass in anime, while the Mazin types are the Coolest. Sure, Koji Kabuto might let you go, but you simply DON'T mess with a Getter Robo piloted by the classic team. Never.

@Rodimus1138 - Fair enough. But the thing is though that the focus isn't on the fanservice, nor (to my memory) did the works have characters purely based around it until more recent works, as compared to, say, Yoko.

It tries to be an exciting super robot show, but outside of 2-3 scenes early, I literally fell asleep during the more climactic battles (do note I wasn't tired by that time). I've yet to see a better description for these guys than "Sociopaths with a hero complex". They're some of the few heroes who realize that piloting a giant robot is totally kickass and go nuts with it.
It is a change a pace but they over did it. I have the original GETTER G series, Amagedden, and New Getter Robo. Somtimes they act like blood thirsty maniacs.
Oh, and guys, stop calling Getter a Go Nagai show. It's not, Ken Ishikawa is Getter Robo's creator. Getter IS part of the whole Dynamic Publishing canon, so it's considered a sister series to the Go Nagai shows(Mazinger, Grendizer, Koutetsu Jeeg), but Getter is Ken Ishikawa's beast. And Ryoma by himself could DESTROY all the Go Nagai pilots IMHO(and this is from a guy who thinks Mazinger is the best show ever, mind you).
@DVAcme you have to note that at the beginning Ishikawa and Nagai developed the concept of getter together, and the character of Ryoma Nagare was invented by
Go Nagai himself. Ishikawa then wrote the manga and continued on it all by himself.
And honestly, Ryo can beat Koji for sure, but he will have some hard time with Tetsuya. :)

The Getter pilots are pretty much undisputedly the most badass, manly and unbeatable pilots in anime robot history. They practically never show any doubt of their abilities or the slightest instance of giving up.

The AT field drains lot of energy, and EVA's are having huge energy crisis.
The EVA-01 after received the s-2 organ, can be match of any (normal size (not TTGL)) super robots. It is strong, agile, mentally controlled, and has a very powerful barrier, and capable of regeneration.
Not sure if that would work right off the bat. The AT Field may block the direct contact that the Shin Getter has required in the translated manga so far. A Stoner Sunshine on the other hand would just incinerate the EVA where it stood.
The Getters would get owned in less than five seconds. Only real men like Ryoma and Koji can pilot badass Go Nagai bots. You can't be a sad emo fag like Shinji to pilot a Getter, hell, even an Aphrodite A would be too manly for Shinji to pilot.
Saotome does it intentionally. If the G-Forces of piloting a Getter doesn't kill you dead the extreme difficulty of piloting will get you crushed or the continuous exposure to the uncaring force of evolution will drive you crazy.
Who better to pilot a machine like that than an inhumanly strong and skilled ax-crazy lunatic?

Its not a remake of the shitty tv series from the 70s. Its based on the Shin getter robo manga by Go Nagai. The TV series from the 70s was horrendous and made Ryoma a blonde football star.
You were half right the first time. The first few episodes are based off of the original Getter Robo manga. The second half of the series is very loosely based on the Shin Getter Robo manga.
"Shin" can mean both "new" and "true" in the case of Getter Robo both have been used. In the Getter Robo Go manga they use "new" and in the Shin Getter Robo manga they use "true." In any case New Getter and Shin Getter are two entirely different things.

Oh, and guys, stop calling Getter a Go Nagai show. It's not, Ken Ishikawa is Getter Robo's creator. Getter IS part of the whole Dynamic Publishing canon, so it's considered a sister series to the Go Nagai shows(Mazinger, Grendizer, Koutetsu Jeeg), but Getter is Ken Ishikawa's beast. And Ryoma by himself could DESTROY all the Go Nagai pilots IMHO(and this is from a guy who thinks Mazinger is the best show ever, mind you).

@DVAcme you have to note that at the beginning Ishikawa and Nagai developed the concept of getter together, and the character of Ryoma Nagare was invented by
Go Nagai himself. Ishikawa then wrote the manga and continued on it all by himself.
And honestly, Ryo can beat Koji for sure, but he will have some hard time with Tetsuya. :)

The AT field drains lot of energy, and EVA's are having huge energy crisis.
The EVA-01 after received the s-2 organ, can be match of any (normal size (not TTGL)) super robots. It is strong, agile, mentally controlled, and has a very powerful barrier, and capable of regeneration.

Not sure if that would work right off the bat. The AT Field may block the direct contact that the Shin Getter has required in the translated manga so far. A Stoner Sunshine on the other hand would just incinerate the EVA where it stood.

It is. It's a sort of remake of the original Getter series for a more modern audience, but still keeping the badass of the original.

You were half right the first time. The first few episodes are based off of the original Getter Robo manga. The second half of the series is very loosely based on the Shin Getter Robo manga.
"Shin" can mean both "new" and "true" in the case of Getter Robo both have been used. In the Getter Robo Go manga they use "new" and in the Shin Getter Robo manga they use "true." In any case New Getter and Shin Getter are two entirely different things.
