great job! really really close. There is alota reverb in it though kinda mushes it uptoo much. I wonder if alot of the reverb from the actual tracks is post recorded?
Sorry man' does not sound good at all. way too drownd out with effects and the true Marshall Plexi tone is being sqashed!. My crate 10 watt practice amp sounds better".
Sorry, But, I'm new to Marshall amps. I have a dumb question: Does anybody know what is the difference between a 1959HW and a 1959 MKII? (I know the HW means Hand Wired) They both read "100W SUPER LEAD" on the back of the head, but what are the differences? Thanks
it would sound alot better if you...,1st of all take off that reverb, its not a very good reverb, then lets hear it.you may still wanna have it modded by rockstah amps
what? this tone should sound like sex? this is pretty bad tone.. like it was coming out of a zoom digital pedal... nothing like a tube bamp.. and there are some pedals in front of the amp it seems that ruin all the sound.. he should have mentioned the pedals... otherwise marshall plexis get a bad reputation thru this video... he pretends the tone comes just from the amp....
I just bought a weber kit I hope I can get it to sound this good any sugestions? some of these people on here would'nt know good sound if it bit them on the ass.
guess you've never seen EVH live then, eh? The flanger and other effects were a huge part of the tone. There's no Van Halen tone without those effects in the background
....There is no pedal for the EVH tone. It's taking an amp, and diming it. (turning it on ten) Yea, there are a few more tricks eddie had, but he never used OD pedals, only a handful of effects. Especially if u listen to VH1, his sound isn't even that distorted. Just take a small, TUBE amp, and turn it on ten. Best of luck.
However, if u can't do that, buy a marshall HDFX 15, but put the volume on max, and use the gain as your volume. Not to shabby for $150 solid state amp.
@ozzy4pres That depends. I'd definitely not recommend the MG HDFX though, a solid state amp most definitely can't actually get the EVH tone, but cranking a tube amp (while the best way to go). Cranking my 1978 JMP can get tone, as can my Peavey Windsor (Boosted with a tubescreamer) at volume 2. So ultimately it's tube vs solid state that makes the difference.
@Obelix5150 ya know, i was a disbeliever in the MG series too, but then i met Frank Hannon (from Tesla) and he showed me that little trick i described below with the MG 15. Only that model, but he would use that as his amp for smaller gigs (portability, reliability) and just mic it. And trust me, it sounds bad ass, and pretty damn good for only $150. Don't believe me? try it yourself, shure 57 to a decent PA, and u got rock.
@ozzy4pres that's strange... an MG15 was my first am p, and I tried using the gain as my volume (that's what I do with ALL my amps that have master volumes). It didn't sound as bad, but it still sounded MG. I do the same with my Windsor (300 buck head) and THAT sounds badass. I guess it's another case of YMMV...
what a beast man great tone i need to get this type of van halen brown and warm tone what amp do u recommend for under 700 max 800 and also i need a nice strat i like the maple necks and hss pickup alligment but i cant find anything im looking for hahahahaha
THIS is called playing an amp. Question: Are any of you fanatics out there having any luck playing a model of an amp? Just wondering. I used to build Marshalls out of Sound City amps when they were less expensive. They had the same yellow drop capacitors in them. BTW there was a certain German audio visual company back in the 70's that had tons of those caps in their equipment. It's not likely that much of their stuff will show up in thrift stores, but does anyone know that company's name?
Hello again dude, i have a cheap 50 bux guitar and a cheap 50 buck amp, so, my amp distortion is not that good, i need a od/distortion pedal, which in your opinion, is the best plexi kind of sound pedal ?For VH, and that kind of rock? Thanks !
@metazoanex try a pod x3 live, kind of expensive, but their pretty sweet. look up doug steele on youtube, hes got one and he shows you how to get that sound you want. if its to much for your budget, those zoom 505s arent to bad, their only around 80 0r 100 bucks new. x3 lives are about 500 bucks, but well worth it. peace.
Man , that sound can make only marshall or some amp which is powered by EL34 or EL84(better choice for VH sound), you can't get vh sound from cheap guitar with stock pickups and shitty amp , get better pickup and some tubeamp :-)
Sounds like you got some phasing and reverb effects going on there. Is all that and the distortion coming right from the amp? My God, what great tone!
Yes!! The amp was modded added a bit more gain and a master volume. If I were to do it all over again I would just upgrade the tubes and leave the amp stock. Run a power attenuator for a master volume.

I had a plexi 50 just like this, way back in around 81, and they don't sound like that without a a bit of extra help from an overdrive pedal,,delay,
