  • In a film crew there are two kinds of best boy: best boy electric and best boy grip. In the simplest forms, they are assistants to their department heads, the gaffer and the key grip, respectively.

  • Gaffer is an old British term for a boss or a foreman. As for best boy, I have no idea.

  • Thanks for doing these videos.... I've ALWAYS wanted to learn more about how a movie is made, and learning about the steady cam and what the hell a "Best Boy" is was just great.
