awesome pics of the orb-man in this vid. i really want a nice copy of the one where he got a ponytail and is admiring a large crystal. where can i find it? thanks!
Now only if my native Hip hop can catch the love vibe that this man spent his lifetime expressing, Roy, I know when u got up there, they had angelic wings waiting for you.
This what is officially known as MUSIC! Somehow some have confused those spoiled attention seeking brats who run their mouth in efforts to seek fortune and attention as Music. We will get music back someday people, someday................
If Roy Orbison had been watching this years half time show at the Super Bowl he would surely have gotten up and went to the rest room to either puke or laugh.........
There's no one quite like Roy. What a voice, what a guitar player, what a songwriter, and what a modest human being! He was one of the true pioneers of rock. As for the Wilburys, well, what can I say? Five superstars simply started jamming and formed one of the best bands ever. Too bad Roy had to die so early. The "End of the Line" video gives me the chills at Roy's portion, when you see the chair with his guitar in it, and his picture. He died just before the video was shot. His music remains!
A good singer from the UK who has great rock and roll inflences got rejected from BGT have a listen and see what you think! just search britains got talent reject dave lennard. Thanks.
@hirdy6 Performers as disparate as Elvis Presley and Bono stated his voice was, respectively, the greatest and most distinctive they had ever heard.[3]
@carthuratutube I heard them quoted complimenting Roy's voice which is obviously huge praise, I just thought Elvis' voice was more versatile but it's silly to argue, both were pure silk.
You know how they say "remember where you were when...". The first time I heard this I was sitting at a pizza joint in Kensington. Fantastic, I thought, the Big O is back. (He's never left).
Roy Orbinson was one of Americas greatest artist and he always conducted himself as a gentleman, on and of stage. His unique singing style helped launch the careers of other greats like Elvis Presley. Our loss i haven's gain...
This man was such a genius. I can't imagine the music world without him. R.I.P. Mr Orbison and thanks very much for sharing your music with all of us.
Every song Roy Orboison ever recoeded was great one of the grewatest musicians in the twetyeth centuries, his music will for many generation he is sadley missed.
i have children, and i know if they were to be taken from me the way this guys were, i would find it very hard to carry on with life i am sure...to come back and do things like this . well there is hope for everyone. if u think things are bad for you. use this guy for inspiration.
I'm 25 and i think he was the sexiest man from the time he hit the scene big solo til his death at 52 in 1988. I love his. any man like him i will jump at the chance to marry or goldie hawn/kurt russle it. just want to be with someone like him.
I love this man and miss him so very much. To know he lost his two children to a fire while he was away talking about his home that had a built in waterfall at the same time the firing was destroying his home and his children were dying - well, I don't know too many that could cope with that. Most of you don't know - he also recorded a song called "Lana" - very upbeat. I love it - because my name is Lana. I cried for 3 days when he died and cry even still at times when I hear him sing.
This really is a remarkable song and production. Has that Jeff Lynne/Wilburys sound. The song itself is classics Orbison. It tips its cap to Pretty Woman here and there, and yet it is a totally free-standing song in its own right. I'll be playing it at a wedding next week. Great tune. I love it when clients pick good songs.
I have written about music for 45 years and was honored to be in the company of many of the top singers and groups of the that time period. In my opinion "The Big O" was at the Top considering his versatility in writting, arranging and performing. This record is a perfect example, it was all him and a hit nearly 20 years after he peaked with his many 50's&60's Rock&Roll hits. Those of us who met him will tell you that he was a humble, pleasant but private man. RIP Roy.
I feel fortunate to have grown up in the 50's and early 60's and have music like this to listen to at that time. Those times will never be repeated again for any other generation that comes along. Sad but true.
In a great body of work from a terrific artist, this song is one of my favorites. The soul in him comes right through and grabs you right where it matters - your heart. Thanks for the post.
Elvis supposedly said that Roy was a better singer than him. Elvis was right. Roy sings like like an angel. Out of this world! RIP Roy, may you have many happy jam sessions with George, John, Buddy, Elvis, Carl, and Johnny.
When i think of Roy Orbison i really think of an inspiring and sensitive person. He puts so much emotion in his songs that it is almost unbelievable and sad at the same time. His death was a tragic one =/ ! 5/5
Aside from his voice, vocal talents, musical ability, all that, whatever, Roy Orbison is proof that people love a comeback. Especially a good, successful 1. Had Roy died anytime during the late 60's to the mid 80's it probably would have been minor news. His death in 88 made headlines across the world. That was due to his 87 "revival" & comeback. Personally I could take or leave him. I like a few songs, that all. But like him or not I acknowledge he was an extremely talented musician.
It was a day I remember as an African teanager living in Norway for one year, that our caretaker who was Algerian French told us that the greatest singer of all time just passed away. He immidietely started playing "you got it " I remember I was only 17 yrs and didn' t hear the song before that time but liked the beat right away - up to now, i still remember that time and how passionate our caretaker was - What a memory lane to take via Roy. Already god blessed his soul!
Roy Orbinson is my singer among all the singers because it has a unique and wonderful voice. It is very special to me because it reminds me of my 4 beloved grandparents, when I hear it like they did a little tribute. They have given me as much as what it says is beautiful song.
