I usually don't join in on the debate, but fuck it. Lebron is a more effective player than Kobe; Kobe's career is just much more established and Kobe is much more mentally strong. Kobe has that win at all cost mentality that Lebron doesn't yet have, and Lebron doesn't come up big when it really matters, like all the greats do. So although Lebron is a better player on paper, Kobe is still better than him in my oponion. The mental aspect of the sport outweighs the physical.

It's not just about stats and not just about rings. It's about how you went about getting those stats and rings. When Kobe was in his prime he averaged 35 and 31 ppg, scored 81 POINTS, 4 straight games with 50+ points, he could score 60 on any given night with ease, and an MVP. I usually don't join in on the debate, but fuck it. Lebron is a more effective player than Kobe; Kobe's career is just much more established and Kobe is much more mentally strong. Kobe has that win at all cost mentality that Lebron doesn't yet have, and Lebron doesn't come up big when it really matters, like all the greats do. So although Lebron is a better player on paper, Kobe is still better than him in my oponion. The mental aspect of the sport outweighs the physical.

That's why most of the greatest NBA players of all-time (Jordan, Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Magic, Bird, Kobe, Shaq, Olajuwon, Duncan) all put up great stats and won championshipS when they were THE MAN on their teams.
Lebron isn't at that level yet, and even if the Heat win Game 7, it won't be Lebron winning MVP, because he's NOT the MVP on the Heat.

Lebron is not only a better overall player he is now the better 3 point shooter. He is only 1% lower than Kobe for career average and now LeBron's 3 is so wet I'm sure he'll overtake him. Lebron has higher career PPG, Playoff PPG, Allstar PPG, FG%, Assists, Rebounds, Steals per game, Blocks per game. Basically Kobe has a better FT% and that's it. For those who say Lebron avgs better numbers than Kobe STFU. Lebron James is in his prime and his at least ten yrs left. Kobe on the other hand is past his prime and yet he is still putting up 25.3. When Kobe was in his prime he averaged 35 and 31 ppg, scored 81 POINTS, 4 straight games with 50+ points, he could score 60 on any given night with ease, and an MVP. So for everyone saying that Lebron puts up more need to get their fucking facts right because Kobe in his prime would kill lebron.

Everyone says the Kobe wouldn't have done shit in in Cle like Lebron did, but the 05-08 Lakers were worse than the 05-08 Cavs. Since Gasol arrived, Kobe has been passing the ball a lot more which is why his scoring avg has dropped a significant number from since when he averaged 35 ppg. Also Kobe wasn't in his prime when he won his first two rings. He played with a prime Shaq (who was unguard-able). Kobe reached his prime when Shaq left after the '04 season. During Kobe's physical prime, when he was dropping 50 and 81 point games all the time, but he didn't win jack shit and got bounced from the first round for 2 straight seasons.
