  • the store i work at plays this song over the intercom. although i knew it was the B-52s, i didn't know what the song was called until just now when i found it on itunes.

  • this song reminds me when I was like five and my uncle would sing this to me. Now, it's one of like a handful of their songs that if I hear it I have to hear the whole song like 5 times in a row

  • I can sing both womens' harmonies. I can relate to you saying you have to hear it more than once and probably several times to really enjoy it. Cool post!

  • There's a cool beat in this that is not in any of their other songs..... I like it!

  • *blames walgreens for getting me hooked on this song...*

  • did they play it over the intercom or something

  • you should THANK walgreens

    lol

  • Compared to the usual shit they play there, you're doing pretty good! Better than the Air Supplys & Billy Joels I get at the store near my house!!he he he!!!

By the way that goes for Albertson's too!!

  • I still remember staying up late to tape this video off of PostModern MTV (where I first saw it).

  • I actually think this is a really cool video.

  • I'll never tire of this song. Love it.

  • God!!! Kate, at 41, had the gorgeous little frame of a 21 year old.... she never ceases to amaze!!... And great song, by the way!!... one of their best ever. I wish they had used that southern guitar sound on more of their songs.

  • She was 41 in this? WOW!

  • I love this song. I relate well to it.

  • theme for a nude beach is the best

  • Probably my fave B-52's track, and it wears well.

  • Amazing how the subject matter is still relevant to today's times.

  • the definitive song to shut the trap of critics that said they were over after the (much felt) departure of Ricky Wilson. rock on!

  • I love the girls's voices

  • Kate?

  • The B-52's Probably the most fun i ever had at a show

I was soaked from dancing. Love them all.. seen them at small club in westerly RI will never forget that show!

  • This is a good song for memory.

I remember this pool hall in Ballard, Wa.

Played this song with good friends during good times.

The Pool Hall is still there.

    Darin

  • Kate must have been in a time warp between 1983-89 because she didn't seem to age in that time. She looks great!

  • B-52's RULE!

Channel Z = ABCNNBCBS, FOX and all the others! Take all their 'information' and "SHOVE IT IN THE SHREADER!" LMAO!

    Peace!

  • just listen to that 2 part harmony!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how many drugs were these guys on?

  • You need to be real, here. I am positive you don't have much of a sense of humor, lack of time to be yourself, or basically a life. Get your identity now!

  • Actually, they did do some.

    S'all good, man.

  • This is remarkable that these guys were so tuned in, so long ago about global warming... And now the politicians are starting to talk. "We can make it happen"...

    Love the B-52s!

  • GRACIAS !!! This song, this group are great !!!

    Slds, from Argentina

  • Black Eyed Peas suck a nutsack.

  • some of their sounds remind me of a cross between Depeche Mode and U2...which is good because that was the "alternative" sound of the 80s

  • I hear it as more like Depech Mode + DEVO + The Beach Boys + U2. Also, P.S., It was called New Wave.

  • this is my fave post-ricky (r.i.p.) B-52's song, no doubt about it! paranoid and happy at the same time.

  • Cindy and Kates vocal harmony make the band great... BUT with out FRED they would be nothing fred dosent get enough credit his voice ROCKS....

  • The best version of this was the SNL one on Earth day 1989. 4-20-89. Great performance. Great band!

  • I had "Cosmic Thing" when I was in high school and some of my favorite memories from that era, of which I don't have many, involve the B-52's.

  • <3 LOVE this song!

  • i got Cosmic Thing as a birthday present from my sister back then, and didn't like it at the time. That soon changed and now i can say i could never get tired of listening to it. Especially this song, it's so mysterious and witty at the same time...

Where's my umbrella?! Where's my umbrella?!

  • I like to shout at people random lines from this song especially. And especially Where's my umbrella?!

  • I love this tune and this band. I remember seeing it on MTV like it was yesterday. And yet it was almost 20 years ago. There's just something happy and optimistic about the music of the B-52's.

  • omg! Z! lol

  • Thanks for posting! This is the song that introduced me to the 5-52's. I can't wait for the new album.

  • brilliant post thankyou!

  • I am sooo glad my mom raised me on this band. They rock, no doubt.

  • A great piece to support environmental awareness/stewardship

  • U got that right, MTV and VH1 both suck. . . no more music, all these reality shows and SUVs clouding up my goodness of the environment. . . feel that music

  • YES! Love this one!

  • Saw them at CBGB's back in the late 70's......what a time that was....

  • the b52s are the definition of cool this song especially!!!

  • Ha, I love the B-52's. Especially this song.

  • ...giant stacks , blowing smoke, politicrites, pushing dope ....all I know we gotta change whats happening.

  • !! love the roland to "ola" on kate's setup. oh god the b-52's rule. awesome.

  • the ladies voices mixed together has ALWAYS made this group rock!!!

  • cool ass song

  • yeah, this was the song that brought be BACK to the B52s. LoveShack, was good, but Channel Z was the BOMB!

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great! Luv' them lots...

  • This song was pretty cool....sort of had U2 sort of feel musically

  • U2 was never as fun or cool as the B-52's

  • Hillbilly-punk-funk! This is what happens when a UFO lands in Louisana - far out space nuts! The B-52's are da bomb! There's a monster in my pants and it does a little dance!

  • static in my attic!!!!! hoooooo yeh thats the stuff.

    tune in...tune out....

  • I want to send a big "up yours" to mtv for never playing this song and then turning around and playing Love Shack 50 kazillion times...tin roof rustin??? kill me now...

  • it played on 120 mins. that was a show on mtv

  • That's why WE quit watching MTV and VH1 and now enjoy what we want to watch on Youtuber! MTV totally SUX now! And VH1 is so SOSDD!

  • very well put.

  • Thats not true .I know they played this song at least ONCE that was the first time I ever noticed them. That line that Kate sings sent shivers down my spine I could not get this song out of my head !Then a few days later "love Shack "came out and that was the end of Z :(

  • Love this band more than anything.

  • man, this is my childhood...love it!

  • Great vid, thanks for posting!

  • This was a great song from a great album! Thanks for posting!!

  • Love the scenes of the band hanging out in the woods. Their best song. Too bad it didn't get the reception the other singles on "Cosmic Thing" received.

  • At my school we have to make a music video for this :S, not a bad song.

  • Rock on!

  • I love this song!!^-^

  • This is a brilliant video. I wonder who directed it. It reminds me a great deal of the Video for Spellbound by Siouxsie and the Banshees.

  • the MTV generation set on it's ear in 4:46min gotta love the B's

  • Would have made a perfectly fitting theme song to Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth'.
