yeah that reminds i remember that they cancled the chas robot becuase it wasn't cost effective. i realy didn't get that because isn't the mauroder and the that other robot the same thing

No the chas was better. But the Roughneckes teached it a human touch, that why it sacrificed itsself. Command never saw that coming and for them a troopers is just a trooper and expendable according to chas. So that's probably why they use it as bodyguards now.

Anyone notice on all these shows the tech, and crafts are all able to be emergency overridden. While in other shows similar if the ship is on self destruct theres no way to disengage it or if the ship is nosediving then they have to bare down and brace for impact. Just something i noticed.

I like the scaling on this; on tophet a CHAS was able to take out at least 100 bugs with just it's firearms and maybe 10 more going hand to hand.

But here two of them get totally owned by a bug that's taken a human as a host. I'd love to see the CHAS's beating the hell out of Xander.

The bodies are externally the same but they lack the expensive organic components and learning CPU that made CHAS a trooper. These are called Robotic Autonomous Defense Units, RADU for short. They are physically tougher, but have no capacity for lateral thinking. They're just expensive targets on patrols but are very good at base defense, being better able to recognize friend or foe than sentry guns. Or so says the RPG guide.

Its kinda stupid how they don't do this kind of animation for tv shows anymore. Shows like Reboot and Roughnecks were cutting edge during their time, but after Pixar and Dreamworks began making the big budget movies with CGI, TV shows with full CGI just died. Imagine somethign like this with modern graphics and writing. Kind of a shame.

People, Space Marines and Troopers are both similar, but they're 2 different universes. Think about any of the parallel TV series like Star Trek or Farscape or Stargate, they've all got things in common, but noone sues them, right? Chill out, Heinlein was an inspiration to a lot of things.

I think they had plans to have a whole lotta CHAS in the series, but the one on Tophet was kinda like a pilot episode if you know what I mean - They did one, and it was costing more than they could afford, so they "cancelled" him. Damn shame, he rocks. Even bigger shame they stopped showing the series :( but now it's here ^^ thanks guys!

It's so they didn't have to spend the money showing them in action. Animating CHAS to be kick ass cost them more then three times their normal budget for an episode, so ever since episode 3 of Tophet, CHAS units are giving an average life span of four seconds to cut costs and piss people off.
