At least for mine, I hit the governor at just just over 155, or exactly 6000 rpm in 6th gear. The speedometer got to about 157 if I remember right. But as far as I can tell the governor is set at right around 155. With most of the power dropping off at 5800 rpm this car is geared about perfectly.

I have a speed3 and the speedo is actually very accurate. I had a gps up while I was doing some runs and they were right there with what the speedo was reading.

Yeah they only made the Speed6 in 06-07, of course the Speed3 can be modded the same, it's the same engine.

Yeah stock ECU cuts power to nil after 5,800rpms. The only reason my actually pulled somewhat was because I was running open downpipe at the time.

Nope, there are no O2 sensors after the first cat in the downpipe. The CEL is there because of the cone filter I have on there, it's just an Autozone filter with a MAF adapter. How could the cops catch me? The video sucks so hard you can't tell where I was.

BTW, unless you were taking your time getting to that speed, your car seems a little on the slow side. My car didn't take that long to get there. Then again, it could be my mods.

I had a cone filter on in place of the stock air filter and was dumping the stock down pipe.

At that speed, you speedometer could read up to 6mph high.

The Mazdaspeed6 won't go over 154mph. I verified using GPS. Technically, the governor is supposed to limit the car to 149mph. However tests have shown that the governor actually kicks in at 154mph.

If you drive at that speed on a slight downhill, you should feel the car being held back.

There is no governor in the speed6. The MS3/MS6 can go 155+. I don't know where your getting your info from!! But the speed6 has a restrictive exhaust system, so if you free it up I'm sure gains are very noticeable.

Noticeable indeed. If only the stock ECU/tune, fuel pump and throttle body all didn't hold the car back in the uppe rpms the car would top out at a lot faster speed and at a faster rate.

Its actually limited to 155 mph, and it's not because of the governor. The speedo will read about 163 or 164 if you push it.... and given the % of accuracy loss with speeds over 120 mph, it seems accurate that when the speedo is doing 163 you're doing 155mph, all you need is a GPS to show it.

Yeah, I would think the same thing, take for example back in 1999 when the Suzuki Hayabusa was the fastest production bike being clocked at 194 mph... all the testers for various mags said the speedo was pinned between 210 and like 219 mph. I guess the only way to "accurately" read speed is still via GPS or radar/laser etc.

I've had a few friends who've taken their Speed6 up to the limit saying the speedo was reading on or near 160mph.

A buddy of mine working at the Suzuki dealership told me that speedometers are intentionally made to say you're going 5~10% faster than you really are so that people don't speed so much. Granted, it doesn't matter for people who try to push their vehicles to the max, but when driving only 5mph over the limit, that % of inconsistency is often all that keeps you from getting a ticket.

That makes sense.... at least for bikes, lol. Cause I've been stopped in my speed6 doing 90 in a 70 on the expressway and my speedometer even said 90. Even my GPS is on par with my speedo... I have no clue, but that definitely make sense for the bikes, since people wanna FLY........ and the fastest I've gone in my car is 137.... I started coming up on traffic so I couldn't push anymore, lol.

Really? that sucks... my speedo only gets off when I'm at 100 and over... which makes sense, I forgot what it was but there's some thing that happens and causes a slight inaccuracy of the speedo at higher speeds. I don't recall correctly cause I was watching the GPS for the speed but I THINK my speedo was either ON, slightly past 140 mph when my GPS said 137.

My chevy speedo is exatly spot-on. Checked by GPS and those signs that display your speed.

Clearest you can see is :52 and :53, looks like it might be a tad over 150. would never take mine anywhere close to that, well 140
