I got Pearl MCX 6.5 x 14 snare last year. I was hesitant to get a wood snare since I really like bronze and was almost going to get the Pearl Sensitone Phosphor Bronze snare, but I liked that the MCX has die cast hoops. The Dennis Chambers signature snare was out of my price range.
im staying here in bahrain and i myself have a pearl forum, its strong and has a gr8 tone. A lot of people here just like the tone and use the pearl forum drums to play live.A lot people like pearl here.Coz its truly the best reason to play drums.
My sister always wanted a Pearl kit, and got a VBX Fusion 20 Concord Fade this July. Took her about an hour to adjust to it (like the feel and a different setup) but has had fun playing it since. So much so, she was very unhappy when rehearsals ended! The Vision series may be "mid-range", but the sound is awesome, and I think it does bring out the best out of an experienced drummer.
If you are a decent player.. you can play any kit ...but ....a great skinned and sounding kit bring the player out in you ..for sure!
I am giving Pearl their new Catchphrase -
" Pearl Drum s - Brings the player out!" "Pearl Drums - Just add PLayer " , "Pearl Drums - Find the Player within !" , Pearl Drums - Release the inner drummer" , Pearl Drums - WE made the KIT ..You bring the HIT!"
its a great kit not just for entry but if you take time as to tweak it up and put good heads on it it matches up to some other brands top range kits :)
@PearlDrumCorp i agree to coutafhc ....i live in bahrain. Even i too have pearl drums forum series. Its a great drums. People use it here for concerts. They just rock with it.I would really ask pearl drums to come here and check out .The forum series are on are rocking the world of many drummers here. There are lot of young people dreaming of getting pearl drums.Me and my brother we all are musicians and are big fan of pearl drums. I wana give my young brother a pearl masters.hes just 10yrs.
@coutafhc Yeah but you do realise it can match top name brands but it can't match the quality of the brands you don't hear of. All the promoters for pearl don't even record with pearl.... there is a red hot chilli peppers video of the drummer playing a "pear" but when the camera goes over the kit it is a grestch. All the famous drummers are liars.... well almost all of them.
the best one, i have three years playing pearl forum series, is amazing is good to play from jazz to death metal response of sound is really good, of course with remo heads
Pearl drums are the best drums on the planet. I got a masterworks video for free from a shop about 6 years ago and was blown away about how they pay attention to every single aspect of making a perfect drum. And not only a perfect drum, but a ridiculously affordable drum. I bought a Session Custom maple kit in 2003 and have had absolutely no problem with it ever and constantly get comments from everyone I play with (mostly non-drummers) about how good they sound. The Best Reason to Play Drums!
I dont care what anyone says, pearl is by far the best. i have never played a set that has sounded better (Exept for the forum series). When I gig i use my BLX and have DLX that i use as a back up kit.
Both sound awesome.Waayy better then gretsch thats for sure. i would like a Reference or masterworks, but who needs 3 drum kits really. There pricey, but its worth it.
@BrokenSafetyScissors They are not necessarily bad. The Forum is pearls low end, entry level kit. To me, they dont sound as good as a BLX, a masters or a reference. You wont see many drummers using a forum unless your young and just learning, or just flat broke and a 500 dollar drum set is all u can afford
Hey guys...I kind of started teaching myself drums on my bros drumset before I took lessons with a former MSO head percussionist. My brothers drum set, probably about 15 years old, im not sure, is a navy blue pearl expert kit. It came with 5 drums and 3 cymbals. I have added one cymbal adn taken away a drum for a more jazzy set. The original 3 cymbals are "Power Beat" make. Are these a pearl brand? Im just wondering, they sound pretty good...great actually but maybe cause im used to them.
power beat isnt a pearl brand. they have nothing to do with pearl, and im sue pearl are proud of it.
i have had a bower beat kit for 3 years, they are the most crap drums i have had the misfortune to play. 2 weeks of use the first tom fell off, thats the quality.
There was a miscommunication. I have a pearl masterworks set which is probably around 20 years old. The cymbals originally with the set are powerbeat cymbals. They sound pretty good but maybe its just cause im behind the set, I cant hear them project. Where can I find these?
ha i have that poster in my room its kool i didnt belive it much till i saw this (pic wiht the hummer on the tom) it says its like 7,980 pounds on that small ass tom
pearl drums are the best drums in the world but they arent the only ones using the cooking technic anymore!tama and dw i belive are useing that method aswell!
about 30 years ago my dad purchased a Pearl world kit with a rack. And now he passed it down to me (im 12) and i'v been using it ever since, it sounds great. We got blue evans heads for the toms and a clear evans head for the bass drum. But i cracked all 3 symbols i only had so now i have to use hi hat symbols :S. Its a five piece with two toms up the top and two toms down the bottom (: and one bass drum which is fitted with pearl duble kicks.
i'm a huge peter criss fan , and growing up in the 70's i got hooked on to KISS . pete said ''i use PEARL DRUMS because i want the best , so i did the same in 1985 purchasing a new pearl DLX 7 pc. kit , had them ever since . still look like brand new and sound wonderful . the best drums in the world PEARL
Pearl does make great drums, but my only problem with them is they offer limited sizes unless I want to step up to the masterworks (or whatever the custom line is now) series. I'd love to get the mahogany 4-ply masters with a 13x9" tom and 24x14" bass, but they don't offer it.
yes Pearl drums are the best drums, I began on a World series kit when i was learning around 20 years ago. In 1996 I purchased Pearls 50th Anniversary kit 1946-1996 all Birch with re-rings in Winered with 24k gold plated lugs in deep fusion sizes 22x16 10x10 12x10 14x12 16x14 5.5x14 snare, this kit just sounds better everyday when i play it and i bash the shit out of it and it loves it.
I agree! I have 3 Pearl kits, and about to get myself a custom Masterworks (or Reference.. not sure yet) kit! I have 2 snares.. a 7 X 12 Soprano and an Omar Hakim, and may buy the Joey Jordison snare. I had started to buy another brand but couldn't continue... Why? I just love Pearl drums!
i love pearl drums i would never choose another brand i use exports with evans and they sound great pearl is my addiction

Pearl should "up" the quality of the Forum series, I'm sure people wouldn't mind spending a little bit more for a better drum.
