Band members so "WELL VERSED" in military discipline you can see the dumbfound look in their innocent little faces while their comrade lays on the ground.

I just want to address one thing. I was one of the soldiers injured that day. (SGT Spinazzola) To everyone who is saying the band just stood there...WATCH THE VIDEO the band's commander and both of the SFCs rushed to the injured soldiers. My wife fell out too, so she could check on me. What were the other 27 members supposed to do? All they would have done is get in the way of the medics. To all of the Medics who rushed over to help me and my friends...THANK YOU. To the band.. awesome job
I'm not a military person, but I'm into competitive marching band, and it's typical that band members aren't supposed to move or acknowledge any sort of distraction as a rule. I d'know how it works with military bands, but I figured that the strictness of military training combined with that of marching band probably kept the band still, doing their job and letting the leadership assigned to help do theirs.
I was also standing in that stupid CoC and its sad to see how that poor kids "bandmates" just stood there dumbfaced not knowing what to do when medics from my unit that were standing two formations away ran to help.
the band doesn't have medics in the unit. And since you were there at that "stupid" CoC, you know the rule about military bearing and discipline. Since bandmembers are WELL VERSED in military ceremony, they knew not to get in the way of those that could help.
That video was video taken by me. I assure you no one was there that day laughing. It truly was shocking as it happened and scarey for those involved in the mishap.

Even though it was an accident, I hope the parachutist gets disciplined in some way or another. A fractured jaw is nothing to laugh about, and it is a potentially career-ending injury for a wind instrument player.
My soldiers were standing in the 2nd BDE formation and we are grunts and they said the band continued mission and carried on the way us soldiers do. Good job Ft. Riley Band

Too bad nobody was looking out for the band and the parachutist didn't yell anything until he hit. The band was told not to look up by the 1 ID CSM. Plus, with the angle and the instruments in the way, they never knew what was coming until it was too late.
Does anyone find it STRANGE that most of the band are just STANDING THERE - in formation - while this is happening?!? Perhaps they're under orders not to move and/or to remain as they are; but nonetheless, from an outsider's perspective, it's amazing...
Too many people moving would have been too many in the way. If you look at the other units, none of them are moving either. This shows control by these musicians/soldiers.
Looks to me he froze, plain and simple. I've help run skydive demos for over ten years and he didn't do shit to avoid the band. No control inputs that I could see on the video. He didn't even yell a warning. If one of my guys found himself heading for a spectator, he'd do a riser turn into the ground before coming close to hitting anyone. But this is just the opinion of one of us "old ass civilian(s)". :-) Don't judge us all just because of one jackass who thinks he can do a demo.

The wounded were being seen to, and the band has to hold up some level of discipline. They finished the job that day, and did another ceremony after that.
They had medics there. More people hovering are more people in the way. And they were told to not break formation. So after they helped where they could, they went back to formation.
MY HUSBAND IS IN THE BAND.....IT IS NOT FUNNY THAT PEOPLE WERE HURT nor is it AWESOME!!! I am grateful that nobody is still in the hospital!! Too bad that people getting hurt is thought of this way.....
Not awesome.... one of the band members broke their jaw and three people including the paratrooper had other ankle / leg injuries, but I can't stop watching!!!! That is some crazy $h!t

Even though it was an accident, I hope the parachutist gets disciplined in some way or another. A fractured jaw is nothing to laugh about, and it is a potentially career-ending injury for a wind instrument player.

Too bad nobody was looking out for the band and the parachutist didn't yell anything until he hit. The band was told not to look up by the 1 ID CSM. Plus, with the angle and the instruments in the way, they never knew what was coming until it was too late.

Does anyone find it STRANGE that most of the band are just STANDING THERE - in formation - while this is happening?!? Perhaps they're under orders not to move and/or to remain as they are; but nonetheless, from an outsider's perspective, it's amazing...

Too many people moving would have been too many in the way. If you look at the other units, none of them are moving either. This shows control by these musicians/soldiers.

Looks to me he froze, plain and simple. I've help run skydive demos for over ten years and he didn't do shit to avoid the band. No control inputs that I could see on the video. He didn't even yell a warning. If one of my guys found himself heading for a spectator, he'd do a riser turn into the ground before coming close to hitting anyone. But this is just the opinion of one of us "old ass civilian(s)". :-) Don't judge us all just because of one jackass who thinks he can do a demo.

I was there yesterday he almost kill himself on the flag spade,but in the ceremony the dumb ass try to kill the Fort Riley band members.I think you need to go restart skydiver school again,,,stupid ass,if i was there in the band formation ,i will get up and kick you like a horse...lol.

The wounded were being seen to, and the band has to hold up some level of discipline. They finished the job that day, and did another ceremony after that.

They had medics there. More people hovering are more people in the way. And they were told to not break formation. So after they helped where they could, they went back to formation.

MY HUSBAND IS IN THE BAND.....IT IS NOT FUNNY THAT PEOPLE WERE HURT nor is it AWESOME!!! I am grateful that nobody is still in the hospital!! Too bad that people getting hurt is thought of this way.....
