@TheDukeFan96 haha i know...just giving you a hard time. i'm a uconn fan but know that duke is a great program. i even like coach k and some of his players over the years... but yes, i tend to root against them. i love when my huskies play your blue devils. good luck next year, and congrats on getting rivers... he'll be ROY.
Who would want to play at Kansas or Duke? Please. Go to Texas and you get to live in Austin, catch passes from Kabongo, and then make millions in the NBA. Easy decision.
@choatican You're right, who would want to play at Kansas or Duke, two of the best programs in college basketball history? When's the last time Texas won a college basketball championship, or even better, when's the last time they won the Big 12?
I really hope he comes to Duke, looks like he is, but we'll see. He needs to put some more muscle on to be more effective when in the post, but that would just be to round out his game. He showed great ball handling and a great perimeter game. This kid looks good. Definitely a potential starter as a freshman in Durham. Didn't see much defense aside from blocks that he may not get in college, but defense aside from that never makes highlights. lol.
Impressive...to say the least. What Duke lacked this year was an athletic power forward. They'll miss Singler but Daniels will fill the void and then some.
No, first of all deandre is a small forward, and second, Mason/miles are best known for their athleticism and size. We need a POWER forward, a big guy who can keep other power forwards from getting easy shots, and a guy who can score with his back to the basket consistently.
@barrano247 maybe mason is known for athleticism but if you think miles is you must have never watched a duke game... also both mason, miles, and kelly were all getting better at scoring with their back to the basket at the end of last year
@Lenk66 he is actually right....miles is very athletic and known for his athleticism. Look up youtube videos of Miles in various dunk contests (at Duke practices/camps what not)
@Lenk66 He IS athletic...look at his highlights at Duke. (ex. DukeBluePlanet's 2011 Top 10 Plays for Duke ) Athelticism is athleticism whether you get to show it all the time or not and Miles Plumlee is very athletic.
@MisterRoddy1 Looking at it on a scale of everyone in the world you could say he is athletic, but just looking at college basketball players well then he is on the lower end of the spectrum. I'm not hating on the guy, I like him and think he's a decent ball player, but he doesn't really rely on athleticism to accomplish a lot of his game.
Hes going to Kansas and the reason Selby was riding the pine was b/c after his injury he wasnt near the same guy and he never realy was that great after his game winner anyway
@22Chiefs Yes. . . High ankle sprains are very hard to get over. . . Of course the Texas fan says something stupid. . The best player to even live played at KU. . WILT BABY! 50.4 PPG, 27 RPG. . . Are you serious! We will NEVER see that again. . . Oh and before yall say he was the ONLY 7 footer. . . How come when someone speaks of Bill Russel nobody says that? Hog wash. . . 1 v 1 Wilt Destroyed Russel. . 37, and 27. . . DONE!
@rawbeatzz091 Wilt was obviously a beast, but that was over 50 years ago. Name me some major talent that BILL SELF has put in to the NBA out of Kansas? Looks at the forwards (just so happens to be DeAndre Daniels' position) that Barnes has groomed -- Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge, Damion James, Jordan Hamilton... 'nuff said!
@jvro22 Your talking about two kids who arent even developed yet. . Since you wanna name college players. . Hmm Lets see. . Marcus and Markieff Morris, Brandon Rush, Mario Chalmers, Cole Aldrich, Xavier Henry, Julian Wright, Darrell Arthur. . . Get outta here man. . .
@rawbeatzz091 LMFAO - you do realize every single one of those dudes is wack! You just made my point for me... KD and Aldridge are better than all of those clowns combined! I guess you missed the part where I said "major talent" b/c KU hasn't produced an NBA All-Star in over a decade.
@rawbeatzz091 Pierce did not play under Bill Self, as he came out of Kansas over 12 years ago - FAIL. When did Aldridge get ripped by Arthur? They never played each other in college, and Aldridge is one of the NBA's most dominant weapons at PF - averaging 22 and 9. The comparison's laughable! You're really desperate to prove the worth of KU alums... they're garbage, deal with it. Rush, Henry, Aldrich, Collins, Chalmers, Wright, and Arthur are all average to below average NBA players - LMFAO.
@rawbeatzz091 you stupid brah.. darrel arthur is fucking trash compared to lamarcus aldridge, any bball fan would agree. yall arguin over this but daniels goin to duke .. trust me
@bigdawg0088 Lmao. . . He is one of the best 6th men in the LG. . . I didn't know a player who trashes another player. . . is trash. . . And using slang like "brah" doesn't make you a thug. . . Makes you one ignorant trash ball. . .
@rawbeatzz091 quit twistin my words BRAH.. he ain't trash in the the grand scheme of things, but he fuckin trash compared to aldridge.. i agree he's solid, but def not one of the "best 6th men in the league".. he ain't never averaged double digits in his career & he a mediocre rebounder - guess you never heard of lamar odom, jason terry, jamal crawford, thad young. i ain't even a kansas hater, but u need to come bak to earth. he's a rising contributor, but not even close to aldridge
@rawbeatzz091 You're a fool. Ignore that Duke troll, and please explain to me how Arthur "ripped" Aldridge so I can laugh uncontrollably at some more of your gibberish.
@rawbeatzz091 They never faced each other in college, dumbass! Aldridge was drafted in the summer of '06, and Arthur arrived at KU in the fall (his freshman season being '06-'07). You just proved that you know absolutely nothing about college/NBA hoops, so please, STFU.
@jvro22 Not to mention, Coaches to come from KU MAYBE they will ring a bell? Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp, James Naismith (Creator of the GAME) Ralph Miller, Dutch Lonborg. . . John Calipari, Matt Doherty, Kevin Stallings, Tim Jankovich, Tad Boyle, Mark Turgeon, Rex Walters, . . . I have made my point.
@rawbeatzz091 Coaches? LOL, that's irrelevant. We're not comparing the history of the 2 programs, we're discussing which school makes more sense for Daniels. You've proved your ability to copy and paste names of old men no longer linked to KU hoops, congrats! The truth is - Bill Self's KU does NOT produce top level NBA talent, he's led them to back to back flops against shit teams (N. Iowa & VCU) as a #1 seed, and pissed off his prized freshman, Selby, along the way! FAIL.
@jvro22 JR Giddens, Wayne Simien, Aaron Miles, Darnell Jackson, Sasha Kahn, Russel Robinson, Rodrick Stewart, Sherron Collins. . . All these players are playing NBA or Over seas. . . . . . . . . ..
@jvro22 Look, I'm a KU fan but I'm not going to look like an idiot unlike the other guy because you are right on all your comments with the exception of one. Bill Self gets players to the league, he gets forwards to the league the most. Each year, Kansas sends a forward or forwards to the draft because Bill Self and Danny Manning teach them up very well. However, most of the forwards he has sent to the league have under performed while exceeding expectations back in college.
@jvro22 Self does a great job at getting them there but they have not done well. I disagree with your statement about how Rick Barnes has groomed those listed forwards. Kevin Durant would of been a star if he went straight from high school. Aldridge woulda been an allstar if he went through practically any other elite program. He developed James really well but he hasn't done anything more than any Kansas player listed throughout the comments. Hamilton isnt out yet either so hand off on him.
@jvro22 Barnes is a great recruiter but in my honest opinion he is not a very good coach. Brings in great talent year in & year out but he hasn't found a way to win with it. Barnes probably brings in better high school players than Self does but Self continues to run the league. Because of the development of his players. He might not have as many elite players in the NBA as Barnes, but he develops them so they can eventually be there. Doubt Barnes woulda sent Kaun and Jackson to the league
@RocktoRock317 Agreed, very well put. Barnes definitely brings in top tier talent from coast 2 coast, but you're right, he typically under-performs where it matters most. If he sputters down the stretch again next season like he's done the past 2 years, his seat is going to get very hot.
If soph standout Kawhi Leonard decided to stay at SDSU for another year, Daniels may take a more serious look at signing with the Aztecs. However, it's looking like Leonard is gonna make the leap to the NBA. That wouldve been a serious squad once again under Steve Fisher out West.
UK is in the mix too, he said he really enjoyed his unofficial visit, and that coach cal always has a good shot for a late commit. but that being said, idk if he would want to share time with gilchrist and our upperclassmen
dont know why so many duke fans watch this and get hyped.....he wont be doin this shit at dook. its not k's style, he wont allow anyone to steal the spotlight away from him. u just dont get away w/ this stuff in college. and btw... when was the last time u saw a 6'8 guy from dook do this...? deng?
KI and DeAndre play completely different positions. Kyrie is a 1 while DeAndre is a hybrid 3/4. This would have nothing to do with Kyrie leaving, but may be due to Alex Murphy deciding to stay in the class of 2012 or Mason Plumlee deciding to leave.
But in reality, this guy is a top talent and you always recruit top talent if you have the capability.
Bring him in! Its just weird how suddenly coach k offers him a few weeks ago on a somewhat random visit. Seems to me he may know something about a possible KI leave for the draft and/or a possible transfer.
@Duke50MH Coack K had one more scholarship from this class, remember Tyler Adams left....... He didnt have to use that but adding more talent is never a bad thing ;) hopefully he will join the allstar class and we can continue to do some work!!!
@CT4DUKEBLUE read an article a week ago saying Mason was thinking about going pro...which confuses me as to why he would think he is good enough, he still needs another year...so that is why i'm saying coach k doesn't usually just jump in on a kid so late in the season. usually our recruiting class is set. So maybe he does knows something about that.
Lookin like the second coming of Kevin Durant... this dude would tear it up at Texas with JHam, Thompson, Joseph, Kabongo. Kansas is known for disrespecting freshmen - look at Josh Selby, dude was a top 10 baller now riding the pine.
@jvro22 Selby was "riding the pine" due to injury. The dude could hardly move laterally, and his shot was off because of it as well. Self had nothing but praise for him and explained this throughout the year.
@jvro22 Selby was "riding the pine" due to injury. The dude could hardly move laterally, and his shot was off because of it as well. Self had nothing but praise for him and explained this throughout the year. He would do very well in Kansas' system because of his speed and ability to run the court with or without the ball.

Self had nothing but praise for him and explained this throughout the year. He would do very well in Kansas' system because of his speed and ability to run the court with or without the ball.
@bobc1210 Look at them now... Hamilton's a lottery pick, and Brown's one of the most gifted offensive weapons in the conference. You have to go through the fire at some point, and learn from your mistakes in order to grow as a player. Self completely disrespected Selby, and didn't even give him a fair opportunity to showcase his talents and mature. Now he's probably going to leave KU and go pro - lesson learned. Barnes is a player's coach, and is known for grooming NBA talent.
@jvro22 Lol disrespecting? Sitting an oft-injured and suspended player? Yeah, that's total disrespect. Kansas is actually known for whopping the BigXII's ass year in and year out.
@jvro22 Good luck getting any rings at Texas. Plus Hamilton, Joseph, and Thompson are gone. If you wanna win go to Kansas young man. 7X Consecutive Conference Champions.
Kansas extended a walk-on opportunity to one of Daniels' teamates Christian Garrett. VERY SLICK. As of right now, Kansas is in the lead for his commitment. It's a shame that a player loves one school but his father seems to be controlling or pressuring the outcome of his future college choice.
The truth is.. DeAndre's role model is Kevin Durant. DeAndre loves the Texas Longhorns but his father.. not so much. Word is he is waiting to see what Jordan Hamilton's decision is after this season, if he will return or enter the draft. Their game is similar except DeAndre has a little more athleticism. DeAndre could step right in and replace Hamilton's role next year, who happens to be one of 5 mid season all-americans.He is torn between Texas and Kansas.
the new Matthew Knight Arena it will put every other Arena in the Country to shame. Thank you Phil Knight and Nike the new Basketball court is going to be a huge homecourt advantage for Oregon. If Oregon can't land Daniels i hope they steal Chandler from Ucon the ducks really really need bigs :(
I agree he should come to Oregon and help open up the nicest Basketball Arena in the Country. Oregon needs bigs in a bad way and he would start as a true freshman. I see Oregon starting 3 freshman next year with Barron at the point Brown at the 2 and Keumper at Center. Oregon likes to run 3 guard sets see i could even Kingma starting next year as well. Hell Oregon could and might start 5 true freshman next year if Daniels comes to Oregon. Man i can't wait till Jan 13th gets here to check out the
go to kansas if you want to play with a team who has won their conference every yr for the last six yrs. oh and both small forwards are seniors right now. come play next to the morris twins next yr and you sont regret it. kansas wins regardless, but with you it will be scary for all the other teams facing the jayhawks
Better hope he doesn't visit Oregon and come see the nicest arena in the Country here in Eugene othewise he would be an Oregon lock. I'm pretty sure that every kid that visited Oregon this year commited to Dana Altman and staff. The new matthew knight arena puts alot of nba arena's to shame.

But in reality, this guy is a top talent and you always recruit top talent if you have the capability.
scienceremotecontrol 11 months ago
Bring him in! Its just weird how suddenly coach k offers him a few weeks ago on a somewhat random visit. Seems to me he may know something about a possible KI leave for the draft and/or a possible transfer.
Duke50MH 11 months ago
@Duke50MH Coack K had one more scholarship from this class, remember Tyler Adams left....... He didnt have to use that but adding more talent is never a bad thing ;) hopefully he will join the allstar class and we can continue to do some work!!!
CT4DUKEBLUE 11 months ago
@CT4DUKEBLUE read an article a week ago saying Mason was thinking about going pro...which confuses me as to why he would think he is good enough, he still needs another year...so that is why i'm saying coach k doesn't usually just jump in on a kid so late in the season. usually our recruiting class is set. So maybe he does knows something about that.

Duke now leads for Daniels. The rich get richer.

Lookin like the second coming of Kevin Durant... this dude would tear it up at Texas with JHam, Thompson, Joseph, Kabongo. Kansas is known for disrespecting freshmen - look at Josh Selby, dude was a top 10 baller now riding the pine.
jvro22 11 months ago 6
@jvro22 Selby was "riding the pine" due to injury. The dude could hardly move laterally, and his shot was off because of it as well. Self had nothing but praise for him and explained this throughout the year.

@jvro22 Texas dropped to his 5th pick. Duke Being his first choice, Kansas his second, Kentucky his third, Oregon his fourth, Texas his fifth.
Most likely going to Duke or Kansas.
tehetahatoho 10 months ago
@jvro22 better to limit freshman mistakes, than let hamilton and brown disrespect barnes by taking bad shots and not playing defense two years ago.
bobc1210 10 months ago
@bobc1210 Look at them now... Hamilton's a lottery pick, and Brown's one of the most gifted offensive weapons in the conference. You have to go through the fire at some point, and learn from your mistakes in order to grow as a player. Self completely disrespected Selby, and didn't even give him a fair opportunity to showcase his talents and mature. Now he's probably going to leave KU and go pro - lesson learned. Barnes is a player's coach, and is known for grooming NBA talent.
jvro22 10 months ago 2
@jvro22 Lol disrespecting? Sitting an oft-injured and suspended player? Yeah, that's total disrespect. Kansas is actually known for whopping the BigXII's ass year in and year out.
Jamescaprio14 9 months ago 2
@jvro22 Good luck getting any rings at Texas. Plus Hamilton, Joseph, and Thompson are gone. If you wanna win go to Kansas young man. 7X Consecutive Conference Champions.
nhardman 9 months ago
Kansas extended a walk-on opportunity to one of Daniels' teamates Christian Garrett. VERY SLICK. As of right now, Kansas is in the lead for his commitment. It's a shame that a player loves one school but his father seems to be controlling or pressuring the outcome of his future college choice.

@TexasMade1009 If you think he "loves" kansas you are crazy. And Kansas is damn shady for that shit.. too bad they CHOKE every year

@flipu8 To bad over the last 5 season we have the most wins of any college in NCAA History. . . . . Aww man :( Im sorry
rawbeatzz091 10 months ago
The truth is.. DeAndre's role model is Kevin Durant. DeAndre loves the Texas Longhorns but his father.. not so much. Word is he is waiting to see what Jordan Hamilton's decision is after this season, if he will return or enter the draft. Their game is similar except DeAndre has a little more athleticism. DeAndre could step right in and replace Hamilton's role next year, who happens to be one of 5 mid season all-americans.He is torn between Texas and Kansas.
TexasMade1009 1 year ago
@TexasMade1009 Agreed. Thats why I think he decommited. His and Hamiltons game are way to similar.

the new Matthew Knight Arena it will put every other Arena in the Country to shame. Thank you Phil Knight and Nike the new Basketball court is going to be a huge homecourt advantage for Oregon. If Oregon can't land Daniels i hope they steal Chandler from Ucon the ducks really really need bigs :(
thetorplez 1 year ago

Sportsace10 1 year ago
Better hope he doesn't visit Oregon and come see the nicest arena in the Country here in Eugene othewise he would be an Oregon lock. I'm pretty sure that every kid that visited Oregon this year commited to Dana Altman and staff. The new matthew knight arena puts alot of nba arena's to shame.
