Yes, George B., you are correct and what I was watchihg was Live from Lincoln Center. But what I was saying is I just don't like those costumes (whoever it is) and I saw many performances before his version came along. I love GB and have seen a lot of his work (I think I have the same book), but in this case its a no for me.
I've seen the Nutcracker amny times with so many different setting and interpretations. This looks like last year's showing on PBS with Chelsea Clinton and host with the San Francisco company performing (I think, ready and waiting for accurate corrections). I did not like these costumes for this dance.
ummmmmmmm best choreography of any waltz of the flowers ever created. period. In no other nutcracker (I was in flowers last year) that I've seen have the dancers actually resembled flowers like they do in this version! BRAVA!
The set is so funny it's like a world of candy ! That was so beautiful, love the choreography. I don't think that the Drewdrop is that pretty but she's so light though that makes it really cool to watch !
New York City Ballet. No one does it better, George Balanchine's choreography. Kyra Nichols, who is now retired is Dewdrop. This is from a performance in 1993.
I know the center is the dewdrop, but are the two purple dancer called miseries or something? that's what my dance school calls it, so just wanted to know :P
@josephinea1 uh...no i'm 100% positive the center dancer is the dewdrop...at least at NYCB it is because I legit went to a show back in November and the brochure had all the casting in it which said she was a dewdrop. I also watched it live on TV back on the 14th... when it had the important casting in the beginning. Ashley Bouder was the dewdrop. My teacher herself talks about her younger days when she got the chance to be dewdrop. Where did you hear it was the rose fairy?

This is actually New York City Ballet, the George Balanchine version. I have a book with photographs of the exact same dancers, costumes, sets.
