This aired in first-run syndication (and I think Cartoon Network) where the censors didn't care if anyone saw it. Where I lived, season 2 of The Mask aired on a local station called Channel 48 as part of their BKN (Big Kids Network) line-up.

The original mask was called Big Head and appeared in a graphic novel. It was waaaay more adult, with extreme violence and everything. The series has obviously been toned down for kids tv but it's nice to see it's retained some adult touches (suicide bomber strippers)
