Most teams don't 'play' 16 games, they let down some when they know they have playoffs coming. Take the Broncos of '97 or '98, everyone saw another SB coming, no one could stop that offense... but they didn't win all 16 games. Could they have? UNDOUBTEDLY. No one was strong enough to stop them, they simply chose to rest up.

Players are bigger, faster, and stronger than they were back in '85 and the offense and defensive playbooks have become much more complex. The '85 Bears had the most dominant defense of that era as did the 2000 Ravens 15 years later and you could say the '84 49ers had the best offense ever until the '98 Vikings came along or the '07 Patriots almost 10 years afterwards. I think it's unfair to fully decide who the best team ever is. Different Era's make it hard to determine the full ability of a team. The Patriots are dominating an Era under restricted free agency and a limited salery cap, these other teams did not have to go through that.

85 Bears were an outstanding team, but (and this from a RAIDERS fan) the 94 49ers are probably the best team ever. Both their offense and defense were over the top, especially the offense. I would say even better than St. Louis's 'Greatest Show On Turf'.
The 83 Raiders would be the #2 team. Spearheaded by Plunkett and Allen on offense, the defense was monstrous: Long, Alzado, Hendricks, Martin, Haynes and Hayes... easily a top 3 defense.
And didn't make the Top Ten teams? Yeah, I call BS.

Wasn't Dan Marino a sophomore the year the Bears went to the Super Bowl? From what I remember he totaled the Bears defense, showing they were human after all.
Most teams don't 'play' 16 games, they let down some when they know they have playoffs coming. Take the Broncos of '97 or '98, everyone saw another SB coming, no one could stop that offense... but they didn't win all 16 games. Could they have? UNDOUBTEDLY. No one was strong enough to stop them, they simply chose to rest up.

Allright Kumar, you got alot to learn. The game has evolved now. Players are bigger, faster, and stronger than they were back in '85 and the offense and defensive playbooks have become much more complex. The '85 Bears had the most dominant defense of that era as did the 2000 Ravens 15 years later and you could say the '84 49ers had the best offense ever until the '98 Vikings came along or the '07 Patriots almost 10 years afterwards. The '85 Bears wouldn't make the playoffs in today's NFL.

One team that gets overlooked is the '84 49ers. They were 15-1 and their only loss was by only 3 points. They beat the Bears 23-0 in the NFC CG - basically the same '85 Bears team.

The 85 Bears should thank the football Gods every night that Dan Marino's Dolphins somehow lost to New England in the AFC Title game. He wouldn't lay down during his drop back like Tony Eason did when Chicago blitzed him. Taking on Dan Marino indoors with a gimmicky defense that gives up the pass in favor of pressure is a different story. The 46 only works on skiddish quarterbacks that are afraid to stand in the pocket. Hence why the Bears were blown away in the playoffs in 84,86,87,88,90 and 91

The 85 Pats weren't a great team. The AFC was weak back then. And, if you want facts, I will give you facts. How about 9 Hall of Famers and a gazillion Pro Bowlers? The Steelers of the 70's had that, and the Bears of 85 didn't. The 85 Bears are the most overrated and overhyped team of all time, with the 90's Cowboys not far behind. And, another thing, the Niners didn't start 6-0 in 85. The Rams did. The Niners struggled in the first half of that year. I think they were 3-4 at one point.

The Bears of 85 were like the 72 Dolphins and today's Pats in the fact that they played in a weak division. The Steelers of the 70's played in a much tougher division. WR Jerry Rice (1,483 yards, 17 TD). 14-2 record. 442 points scored, 253 points allowed. I think it's unfair to fully decide who the best team ever is. Different Era's make it hard to determine the full ability of a team. The Patriots are dominating an Era under restricted free agency and a limited salery cap, these other teams did not have to go through that.
