I am glad I am not the only viewer to notice Mr Belvedere's misquote of Scripture. His character makes the same mistake in the first Mr Belvedere movie ("Sitting Pretty").
In this movie, Lynn Belvedere states (I'm paraphrasing a bit) "Money is the root of all evil. I have the greatest respect for it. The less I have of it, the more respect I have for it." No mention is made of Biblical chapter or verse.
@JubalCalif "Well therefore it cannot be construed, my dear lad, as a mistake. Since I make no mistakes, it will behoove you to verify that I can make original statements just like I taught FDR to do....Well, I'm off, Rubinstein is asking for another lesson"..Signed, Lynn Belvedere...(Mr. Belvedere to you).
Many thanks for posting this in its entirety. Wow YT is great! Webb was very unique, to put it mildly, but did some great films, i.e., Laura, Razor's Edge, Titanic, and, of course, the father of 12 (!!!) in Cheaper by the Dozen. It is neat to see a young Alan Young (Willlburrrr Post of Mr Ed fame) as well as a mature Shirley Temple in this one. (she lost her talent when she lost her youth). A cute film.
Well said & well put! I could not agree with you more! The late great Mr Webb is one of my FAVE all time stars! Extremely versatile! Too bad he was in no movie musicals...he was a HUGE Broadway star as actor, dancer & singer before turning to movies. Too bad there only 3 films in the Mr Belvedere series (the 3rd one - "Mr Belvedere Rings the Bell" - is the weakest of the 3 & only mildly entertaining in my view).
Heavens to Murgatroid! THANKS for posting this cute & fun 50's flick. Though not as good as the first Belvedere picture ("Sitty Pretty"), this sequel is MUCH better than the 3rd entry ("Mr Belvedere Rings in the Bell"). The late great Mr Webb is not only one of my all time favorite stars but he was BORN to play characters like Lynn Belvedere, Waldo Lydecker and Elliott Templeton. You've MADE my day & my week! CHEERS! :-)
I can't believe Fox still hasn't released this, or the follow-up film on home video! So far, only "Sitting Pretty" has done so!

It is the 'love' of money that is the root of all evil.

@JubalCalif Did he actually mention scripture or was he just stating an opinion?
