That is the example of all examples of the classic Egyptian style. My teacher emulates and treasures the culture of this dance. If only I could dance like this Goddess of Dance.
The actual song she is daning to is Part of an oriental set Called Rakset Nelli from Exotice oriental Dances Cairo By Night Ali Srour, Conductor Composer.
She's over 60 now I guess from seeing her at an Egyption reception in her function as an emmissary. She's much heavier now, but still gives occasional dance seminars in Egypt. She's considered one of the most ideal and was the only one allowed to perform dance to the music of Um Kaltum in her day.
Om Khaltoum is a very famous singer in Egypt from the 50s (I think). There's a video of her on here somewhere which helps to explain it better than I can!
The reason why this video is off is because the music that is playing is not the actual music she is dancing to. I have the video of her dancing to this music and the video of this one with the real music.
i grow up watching this video when my mother was one of the first belly dancers in Spain. I just love Sohair Zaki, She is the best dancer ever, Thanks for sharing this video that i lost and couldn't see back after so many years! Amora Dance
Thank you bellybunny!!! This is the best video of Suheir I have seen, and it's new to me too!!! She is pure pleasure to watch and has great egyptian style.
This is a great dance by Suhair. The only problem is that the audio a behind about one or two beats. That was a problem when the video came over back in the 1970s/80s and was converted from PAL to NTSC.

I love Suheir Zaki! I just recently posted some vintage clips of her on my channel. To find me, search for Norma Detroit Belly Dancer.

Did someone strangle the camera man? Less annoying than those cleavage shots, but close-ups of someone's hands don't tell you how they dance?
