Easy way to minimize scratches on your games - do like I do and keep your 360 horizontal. When I kept it vertical the disc had a nasty habit of falling out of the tray when I went to close it (even after seating the disc in the tray).

the old version of xbox 2005-2006 don't have these rubber things.

ok i have tested this problem. the console has to be reading the disk and if you switch positions of the console then it will scratch your games if you leave it alone and do what the manual says you cant go wrong also frequently clean the disk try if you live on a dirt road as this will scratch the games also
Ive got an Xbox 360 but i dont use it anymore as it does more harm than good. (Bought a PS3) With my Premium console i was playing Command and conquer tiberium wars, which was my favourite game at the time, suddenly a wierd noise came from the xbox and it said it was unreadable, i took it out and it had cracked my disc from the centre half way up the disc, it cost me £35 to buy a new C&C tiberium wars cause the shop wouldnt replace it.
Fallout 3 ive had it for 2 months now i think and the 360 has caused so much damage to the disc its unplayable. There are very deep scratches in the small ring on the back. Sometimes when i eject my 360 games they are still spinning and get scratched. Even when im playing the games i sometimes hear odd nosies like the disc is scraping off something.
Why can't microsoft fix this damn problem. When the made the Pro they should have fixed it. Like comon just put a freakin rubber on the laser lens and tada no more scratch complaints after having dozens of lawsuits on them they still haven't fixed it its amazing.

IF U WANT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM: dont move ur xbox with disc inside, its doesnt scratch itself if u say it does ur fucking retarded. also the scratch that it does leave is not scratched INTO the disc, it's more of a stain, u clean it by scratching it off with ur finger( dont use anything else or u WILL scratch ur disc) also u have to use ur finger because a towel won't do anything, think of it like scratching wax off a surface.
Listen. Unless you put your x box up high somewhere then chances are at some point it's gonna get nudged with a game in the tray. My dog bumped into my x box while i was playing gta 4 then i hear this sound like a meat grinder and my game has a huge circle engraved on the disk. Totally ruined it.

it is very easy, just throw away your Xbox and buy a PS3, that way your graphics will improve, your online gaming will be free and you dont have to buy new games all the time because the old ones are unplayable because of scratches :-)

I love the xbox 360 more then the ps3 but I am sick of this disc scratching. I bought my console this year (2008) and I think I'm done with the xbox360. I am planning on buying a 360 elite and modding it so the disc tray is more stable and the lens wont scratch the disc. If I still find scratches, I think its about time I move on to PS3. All the great games for the 360 are not worth all the disc scratching.

i think there are 2 factors that halp the ps3 not scratch disks.
1: it has a slide in loader which is softer on the disk than a conventional tray drive.
2: the blu-ray drive spins the disks slower than a dvd drive once again being careful with the disk.

But the disc gets hot and if you turn the dusc while it sill in the case it can sometimes scratch it
Take it to blockbuster give them 5 bucks and they will remove scratches for you
Plus the falcon or jaspers don not scrtahc disc at all

ok i have tested this problem. the console has to be reading the disk and if you switch positions of the console then it will scratch your games if you leave it alone and do what the manual says you cant go wrong also frequently clean the disk try if you live on a dirt road as this will scratch the games also

Ive got an Xbox 360 but i dont use it anymore as it does more harm than good. (Bought a PS3) With my Premium console i was playing Command and conquer tiberium wars, which was my favourite game at the time, suddenly a wierd noise came from the xbox and it said it was unreadable, i took it out and it had cracked my disc from the centre half way up the disc, it cost me £35 to buy a new C&C tiberium wars cause the shop wouldnt replace it.

Fallout 3 ive had it for 2 months now i think and the 360 has caused so much damage to the disc its unplayable. There are very deep scratches in the small ring on the back. Sometimes when i eject my 360 games they are still spinning and get scratched. Even when im playing the games i sometimes hear odd nosies like the disc is scraping off something.

well if you let the xbox standup it increases the chances of a scratch disk because the xbox doesn't have a hold on the cd it just flys around.Unlike the playstation is has a lock clip

IF U WANT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM: dont move ur xbox with disc inside, its doesnt scratch itself if u say it does ur fucking retarded. also the scratch that it does leave is not scratched INTO the disc, it's more of a stain, u clean it by scratching it off with ur finger( dont use anything else or u WILL scratch ur disc) also u have to use ur finger because a towel won't do anything, think of it like scratching wax off a surface.

Listen. Unless you put your x box up high somewhere then chances are at some point it's gonna get nudged with a game in the tray. My dog bumped into my x box while i was playing gta 4 then i hear this sound like a meat grinder and my game has a huge circle engraved on the disk. Totally ruined it.

i have the solution for all the people with problems regarding the XBOX scratches.
it is very easy, just throw away your Xbox and buy a PS3, that way your graphics will improve, your online gaming will be free and you dont have to buy new games all the time because the old ones are unplayable because of scratches :-)

I love the xbox 360 more then the ps3 but I am sick of this disc scratching. I bought my console this year (2008) and I think I'm done with the xbox360. I am planning on buying a 360 elite and modding it so the disc tray is more stable and the lens wont scratch the disc. If I still find scratches, I think its about time I move on to PS3. All the great games for the 360 are not worth all the disc scratching.

But there are plenty of people who play for 2-5 hours straight. I play about 4-6 hours alone on weekend nights. My call of duty 4 looks like someone was drawing on it. There are scratches all over the disc that go outward and some that go sideways. I take good care of my games (putting them back into the CD case when switching games). There is no denying it when thousands of people are complaining about scratches. Xbox 360 consoles SCRATCH GAMES.

yup- my xbox360 has been scratching my discs without it being moved at all, now its died from 3 red lights. gta4 and halo both gave me unreadable disc messages and had big scratches in them. im getting my box sent back (after having it 2 years) and hopefully ill have some compo for these games.. but i doubt it. when i buy a game i put it in and dont take it out till i play another game, now my gta iv doesnt work because of the xbox, every one of my games are scratched by the console, and now 2 of them dont work anymore, cmon microsoft, get this fixed!
