  • Lets have a funny comment on here since there's barely any.... POOKA POOKA OOOOOOOO IT'S POOKA POOKA TIME OH YEAH UH HUH OH UH HUH! ( me an my friends Kaitlyn and Madison made up Pooka Pooka . He is a big man that has red speedos on, wears fur boots that say Pooka Pooka and he wears a bull head! We use low voices and scream Pooka Pooka really fast and now it's around my school now everyone talks about us ! :) POOKA POOOOOOKA!

  • is it real ?

  • wow that was cool, though if i was that kid i totally would have put my favourite action figure in it :P

  • Nice 1 this is wicked, can I ask how much helium did the balloon take to fill ?

  • My Ballon Project was a total fail :( At the First Start anything hit the Ballon around 300m (Bird or anything) and destroyed the ballon.

Now I work with my friends on a new Version, that can send the Video directly to my PC but its difficult :(

I hope I can make a Vid of the Space this Year :D

  • Great video and helpful..

  • Incredibly interesting, thanks for sharing

  • Amazing!! Totally inspired me that almost anything is possible even with few resources

  • Wow inspiring

  • Oh, how beautiful! Thank you! This is a beautiful Planet!

  • Inspiring, anything is possible with determination and work.

  • if a balloon pops in space and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound lol

  • @Tohrchur There is no sound in space. so no.

  • wow another camera in space with a fish eye lens to curve a flat earth horizon who are these people! UN flag is the official flat earth symbol.

  • I live in Newburgh!

  • Too bad for the batteries! Good job, your iPhone went to space, sell it on eBay! :)

  • Wow, amazing!!!

  • Scary

  • One of the most awesome videos on Youtube. It's a shame that Justin Beiber has 255,235,504 hits | Lady Gaga has 399,551,934 hits and this video has only 289,486! Twisted world for sure.

  • I want to do that so bad now!

  • Thumbs Up if you were expecting a big boom when the balloon pops

  • Great work guys. Love to try with my family

  • Awesome! Nice job!

  • What a wonderful video and story this is...it's one of the coolest things I've ever heard of great job you guys for doing an experiment like this. I think most people (me for sure) always have dreamed about going into space or at least doing something like you guys did. OUTSTANDING!!!

    Great job men!

  • absolutly great.... (:

  • 3:34 intergalatic rave?

  • Wow.... my brother just show me this video and I just HAD TO comment on this.... I give my hat off to the both of you for making this EXTREMELY AND MOST LIKELY a ALL-AROUND science project a A+++++ Great job on making this experiment. Appreciated the view also!

  • amazing...good job :)

  • No shit you did not shoot this video

  • that is amazing. Hats off to both of you

  • 5:27 SHE'S GOING DOWN CAPTAIN!

  • steve jobs made a great jog with the iphone 4

  • I should point out that the camera and balloon aren't even close to space. The video claims it went 19 miles high, which is typical of weather balloons, but the karman line, the so called "edge of space" is 62 miles high, and the balloon only went 1/3rd of the way there. NASA awards astronaut wings to people who pass 50 miles vertical, although they will be the first to point out several people in the X-15 program have received them without actually traveling to space.

  • @v12tommy Your a douchebag they went 1/3 of the way to space, What have you done other than being an asshole

  • @TheAimlessWander I have done a lot more than sticking a camera in a box attached to a balloon. I was part of a team that designed software currently in over 40 million homes world wide. I built and tested 2 camera systems for use on Indy Cars. I am the sole owner of a multi-national company. Oh, and before you criticize, you should take a closer look at that shiny Emmy award I am holding in my profile picture. I don't usually brag, but you asked what I have done so I answered.

  • @v12tommy I have an Emmy too (seriously). You don't see me being a dicky fatass on YouTube though.

  • @jesuitx The only reason I brought up the Emmy award and the other stuff is because the guy asked. Normally I don't mention it online. I just thought it was funny because he thought I was a douchebag because I could do the math he couldn't do to figure out the balloon wasn't even close to space.

  • image you're sitting in a plane and suddenly a baloon with a camera right under it appears next to you window lol

  • great idea !!

  • it is truly fascinating but didn't you actually need a permission to do that? you know, from some authorities controlling the air traffic and stuff... ?? O_o

  • Awesome!!!

Do it again but in the nigth

  • Too bad why did you choose such a cloudy day. Would be nice to the land on earth from up there instead of just clouds ! But nice project though! Should do more like these!

  • this is probably the neatest videos I've seen on youtube. Great job. I'm sure others have done something like it.But yours is the first I've seen. Awesome.Great job.

  • First Iphone in "space" ?

  • the little blue dot in the vast emptyness of space

  • Obviously fake! Everybody knows the earth is flat...

  • @SilentSkone obviously, im ok with that

  • @SilentSkone wtv -.- have u been out there? -.-

  • @SilentSkone -.-

  • 56 people dont have any idea...

  • @SilentSkone nailed it

  • @SilentSkone Even Christopher Columbus knew that!

  • @SilentSkone lens at a far distant from even a flat surface will appear to arc it's outer view .. ..

  • Can you send my iphone to space too?

  • @TheTom114

you can send it to me if you want :P

  • you're the nr.2 dad in the world!

    Only second to my father.

  • so awesome!!!!!!!!! :))))))))

  • awesome!

  • good job

  • This looks amazing, but I really don't understand how the balloon could reach space, since at some point in the stratosphere the helium should become the same density as the air outside of the balloon and it wouldnt rise anymore

  • @daybreakTrance

You are right, this thing would have to reach 600km height and into the exosphere for it to have been in space. However, for private standards some really good footage of the atmospheric light diffraction.

  • @the1dipip yeah man, it's a pretty scary video if you ask me, using a phone and a balloon to reach that height in 70 minutes, makes our world seem so defenseless

  • that pwns best project evar

  • What a journey! :)

  • Space? There's an app for that.

  • WEIRD MY NAME IS MILES

  • Totally, totally awesome, and I must say, a little scary! (We're so small.)

  • Someone must show this to the flat earth society...

  • great video to the people who did this

  • @urs1980amy

I'm actually workin on a night time space balloon! I hope to be able to get it up there at the perfect time to snap a shot of the day, sunset, and the nighttime all in one

  • so wait at 4:51 the ballon is in Space ?

  • Neat fucking O!!!

  • awsome !!!!!!

please do it again in the night please!!!

    from mexico, amanda

  • The greatest part of this project is that was a father and son experience!

  • your son will get an A in science fair......

  • STUNNING GREAT A SENSATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR CHILD!!! AND FOR ME, TANK YOU!!

  • EXCELENT!!! A SENSATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR CHILD!!!

  • Amazing!!! Yeah!!! Very nice!

  • Creo que su hijo se sentirá muy orgulloso de su padre y tendrá un excelente recuerdo para saber queha sido su héroe. Felicitaciones.

  • very very intelligent man!

    congratulation!

    John Paul from Chile!

  • you know what i dont understand if the whole thing took like an hour and the earth rotates then wouldnt the ballon be reallly far away like in the atlantic

  • Comment removed

  • @poopmcscoopface i think they said there was a wind current or something that kept it close

  • Un iphone viajo al espacio en globo casero, regreso en paracaidas! Excelente experimento!

  • super projet ! belles images ! on se croirait un lilliputien dans la capsule !

  • Amazing !

  • @fabianoasc Não tenho palavras...sencillamente sensacional! Muito obrigada querido amigo! 5 MIL stars! :-)

  • Amazing video!!! Congratulation about it... Next time, put the most powerfull batteries on it... ;)

  • Awesome vid. Thanks for sharing.

  • I suppose it took them a lot of work to do this... His dad is awesome, so much time to spend on his son...

  • waoooo....I can't believe it! The everyday heroes...congratulations!

  • where are all the satelites lauched to the space??... I´m wondered of that

  • KEWL, get more balloons and another camera together and LAUNCH ME :)

  • @fabianoasc - fabulous my friend!!!

    Thanks

  • Good job guys. I accomplished my flight on Sept 5th, 2010 as well. Good to see so many successful attempts. You can see vids and more pics as well as how it was done at my website, aerialparade..com

    Good luck with future endeavors.

    Cody

  • If the tether between the balloon and package was longer, the exploding balloon would'nt cover the camera lens.

  • I would've waited for a cloudless day-all you see of Earth is clouds.

  • 2 DISLIKES ?! O_O WHO DID THAT

  • This kind of effotrs shows that from now on a lot of people, specially ufologists, can manage to create special and more intricated devices to at least get a good glimpse of the space.

  • Good for dad!

  • They might have used MobileMe to track the iphone as it does have that function, can you get someone on it next time ? hahahaha maybe that one guy from youtube that tried to get inside a ballon, o even the Officer Bubble

  • Chupem baloeiros de merda! Aprendam a fazer algo util ao invés de ficarem causando incêndios!

  • fora de sério....!

  • NASA loose !! xD

  • imagine that iPhone 4 and HD Camera fall in your back yard? :p

  • how did you get it down?

  • Heh. The little digital camera that could.

  • AMAZING!

  • The cheepest observation-airplane which a soooooo great idea. Amazing!

  • That's awesome--but why did they pick a cloudy day to send a balloon into space? The view of the Earth would have looked amazing with land/water, etc... instead of white fuzz...

  • nect time they should attach 2 iphones, one facing the craft to see a diff perspective how the craft floated in space.

  • If you have the coolest thing online ever, doesn't that mean you win the Internet? 'Cause these guys TOTALLY do.

  • Espetacular.!

  • Thats how russians used to launch the satelites

  • Only one word to say : FANTASTIC !

  • So cool. Congratulations for successful space mission!

  • What a awesome project! Great dad!

  • Great!

  • I want a meter and km version !

  • Good job dude!

  • これは素晴しい!

  • 6:42. This thing went to "UPPER STRATOSPHERE" - NOT SPACE

    Amazing work and dedication, nevertheless.

  • Qui n'en a pas rêvé enfant...

  • woow....Absolutely brilliant...and ooooh it feels so,lonely up there....and thank god u god u got ur iphone and cam back ...lol :)

  • Wow Cool! Nice job!

  • Aweome!

  • lovely! Its so wonderful to see/ know how people take out time from their busy lives & do exciting things like this... Great Work!!

  • So awesome guy!!

  • Just beautiful.

    Thanks.

  • wowww... Im just out of words after seeing this... Great work done guys, thanks for letting us see the Earth from a different angle or rather amazingly beautiful angle.. Im just spell bound.. applause for the good work keep it up :)

  • awesome stuff guys! who said science\innovation was dead in the US?

  • dont show this to a redneck cause then he'll want to put a chair and a case of beers and go to space

  • Love the spirit! Just brilliant!

  • Brilliant video!

  • Fantastic!!! The ultimate home science project, bravo!!!

  • Appreciate the master behind this! Well done.....

  • it's weird! my sound issues the noise interference to 3:44! as if it were an interference in real time!

Is this normal? Can someone explain?

  • é estranho!! meu som emite o ruido da interferência aos 3:44 !! como se fosse uma interferência em tempo real!!!

    é normal? alguem pode explicar?

  • They should do one more baloon, and send it again in the night, to record the country lights!!!.. that would be AWESOME.

  • Amazing.... look at all the man made chemtrail clouds

  • the camera belongs in a museum. that, or they should put it up for auction

  • wow what a great thing to do with your son. my compliments to dad

  • they should auction the camera

  • A la verga!!!

  • amazing!!!

  • i wonder if NASA saw this and went "WTF"

  • I wish he was my dad.

  • earth looks so peaceful from above..

  • For jink1415 and to prevent similar idiotic comments: In the beginning of the video ( 0:46 ) it says "The mission was to attach a HD video camera to a weather balloon and send it up into THE UPPER STRATOSPHERE to film the blackness beyond our earth." It was never supposed to literally go to space, but considering what these guys used (a HD camera, an iPhone and a weather ballon), it got pretty damn close. Still an amazing video :) Kudos to the awesome dad that made this happen!

  • damn video isn't loading after the first 15 seconds :p

so I can't watch this amazing thing go into space

    AHH

  • This may be a great idea but even more than that, it shows that you are just a great man and father!!!

  • this is some incredible shit if you reallly think about it.

  • hope this video inspires some ppl

  • This is fantastic! Im just thinking though, could u get into trouble for doing this kind of thing? Like what if the balloon got sucked into a jet engine at 30,000 feet?

  • @scdon123 Using weather balloons like this you are supposed to go by FAA? regulations.. one of those covers that type of scenario. The material of the balloon has to easily be shredded in case it gets sucked up into an engine. I don't think you can get in trouble if you follow those guidelines.

  • @a53mp That covers the material of the baloon, and what about the electronic equipment ? If the camera and the Iphone get stucker in an airplane jet engine ? I know the odds are hard to happen, but if this becomes a trend, then a lot of people will do it !

  • @scdon123 Yes, you need FAA permission to send anything up that high, for exactly that reason. I saw this on CBS News this evening and they verified that, yes, father and son did obtain permission ahead of time. Talk about preparing for everything!

  • I see a perfect bonding

  • what an awesome project for a father and son to do. Kudos to them and all involved!

  • cool

  • I would like to send one of those through a thunder and lightning storm!

I wonder what that rhythmic electronic sound was? Maybe some sort of military communications signal?

  • They used Apple program called MobileME. Its a $100 program, you get it for 1 year I believe. It tracks your Iphone, anywhere. And thats what they used for GPS.

  • this is what you call being a great dad. many other dads dont take the time off to spend quality time with the kids but this is just both good and educational for the son. kudos to you dad! thumbs up if you agree!

  • @5mike25 Maybe they enrolled in a "locator service" provided by the cellphone company.. they can then send an sms to retrieve the coordinates of the enrolled phone...

  • i think you can enroll your phone to a LOCATOR from you provider and you can just send an SMS and it will send you a message about the location of the enrolled phone..

  • That is truly amazing and ingenuity from both dad and son. Very mesmerizing. that is what I call quality time with son

  • AMAZING

  • This is just awesome, this put me in a good mood. :)

  • The people involved in this deserve the publicity!

  • How did they get the gps coordinates from the iphone if its with the camera??

  • @5mike25 The camera used was a Go Pro Hero HD. The iPhone was for the GPS

  • @a53mp --yea but how did they get the coordinates sent to them?I mean the iphone is with the camera, how did they get the iphones gps coordinates without actually having the iphone with them. Is there an app for that or what :)
