January 1986, down in San Diego, he walked out of a grocery store one night with some woman, I was like Mandy Patinkin! Hello!? What a sweet guy, very gracious, very nice. I had him begging off, I was getting downright flirty, but I love embarrassing stars, I upstage 'em every time.  C'mon, look, they aren't brain surgeons, they play them. But ya gotta love Mandy, I mean what about that name, Mandy? Oh please. This guy sings like someone poured olive oil down a velvet throated sock-puppet.

The piano player is Paul Ford... AMAZING PLAYER and vocal coach. He was my vocal coach in NY (manhattan School of Music) and he also plays on Broadway in most of Sondheim's musicals.

I saw him sing this medley on tv when I was a kid. I went to the library and copied the music and to this day it's still my favorite song. I LOVE YOU MANDY!

I worship Mandy. The most magnificent voice, male or female, of the past twenty years. The "Casey" medley is his masterpiece and has moved me to tears many, many times but my favorites, however, are "Take Me to the World" and "Rock-a-Bye Your Baby With a Dixie Melody". One of the highlights of my life was sitting in the second row in a concert he gave in Miami in the early '90s, where, like a teen-age girl at a Beatles concert, my tears flowed.
