Look at England no civilian owned guns and there overall crime rate is higher than the USA's. Plus firearms are still highly available, if you think criminals are just going to give up there guns. then you are the one that is incredibly naive.

If availability of firearms had anything to do with violence places like Switzerland would have similar homicide rates as America, and places like Haiti and Mexico would be incredibly safe; they however are not.
