You DO realize that you've taught your program to out think itself. Therefore, it has become smarter than it's programmer, and could possibly develop AI. If this were to happen, your computer could be taken over, and the program will have a physical form. What happens after that, I have no clue.
GAs are really good when it comes to exploiting bugs in order to increase fitness. That and evolution so often makes surprising but effective choices when no human could expect.
so they evolve to try and move the fastest? Yes, wouldnt they just try to get as jittery as possible to go fast. They wouldnt randomly evolve legs or ablity to jump if it doesnt help them go faster.
@madichelp0 Actually I made an evolution program, with populations of prey and predators, and the prey took advantage of a movement bug to allow then to cross water, which was placed as a barrier XD... If reality had any glitches, the life might have already started using them XD
I have a very similar project, and it's nice to know I'm not the only one running into the jittering-as-means-of-locomotion problem and the cheat-by-abusing-physics-engine problem :)

Proof that given an opportunity even computers will cheat..

They're not cheating,
in the worst case,
they are exploiting bugs.

i was SO amazed by the fact that they used a BUG to their advantage... : L

@looksintolasers lol... maybe, though it's function doesn't seem to run counter to any force of nature, so I don't think so :P
