@FutaSarah5000 True but penultimate or not. Ppl would still continue to buy the new games after that release as long as there would be new series of Brand New Pokemon continuing on. Especially if they're die hard Pokemon fans (like myself). And every, lets say, 4 Brand New series of Pokemon, they could make a newer Penultimate Version, including ALL Pokemon/regions/gyms, which would indeed top the previous penultimate version. As technology advances there will always be space for this

New Pokemon: Grey Version

This would so be appropriate for that. In my mind, they should release a Pokemon Grey in which you can visit every region, catch every Pokemon, the music was all redone like this, and you could customize your character. The mascot for that game would be Arceus.

@UnsexualPorn That would be a good idea, but it'd wreck Pokemon's strong long-term playability/accessibility. Pokemon is unique in that there is, in most eyes, no "penultimate" game, like there is for many game series released on a regular basis. The proposed Grey would be that penultimate version, and Nintendo would have great difficulty topping it. It's an amazing premise, but it may not ever happen. Game companies have to be very cautious when considering amalgamated games.
