An aircraft must be called "heavy" if it is capable of carrying over 255,000 pounds whether or not it is operating at that weight during that particular portion of the flight.
i like this video. its a slow take off and a very heavy one too. this is a british airways 747-400 because you can tell from the two engines on both wings powered by rolls royce. outstanding aircraft. i flew on one on the way back from dubai to LHR
It's like having a truck, the boeing or B tells the make, like dodge ford, etc the 747 is the model, like a ram or super duty, and the "series" like 744 or 748 is like the trim on the trucks like "king ranch" or "SE" so yes it is a 747, but the 744 is just short for 747-400
British Airways has not ordered any B747-8. To replace their older B744's BA have ordered 12 A388's. BA's long term plan is to replace their whole B744 fleet that would mean ordering a further 43 aircraft. Their is a possibility that some of them maybe B747-8's.
Well since it is no spam...I'm not going to mark it as spam...
From my "continental" point of view, Mr. Brown seems like a more down to earth person than Mr. Blair. But we don't read a lot about him in newspapers, maybe because he is not as "spectacular" as Monsieur Sarkozy from France ;-)
whats gordon brown got to do with the chaos at T5 for christs sake. and the pound goin down is a global issue which not even a financial whizz like him could stop. people like you should be barred from voting. jeeeeeeeesus.
Fantastic footage - full thumbs up from me! I adore the 747s, they are my favourite and always will be - I love them! They are awesome to fly and just amazing to watch. Cheers!
Let me explain to you: It has never been proven, that electronical devices influence the airplanes instruments. Some time ago Boeing tested the B757-200 by filling it up with all kinds electronical devices (DVD Players, Mobile Phones, Cameras). Guess what: No instrument was affected. No interference was measured. There is no harm. Airlines still won't allow them because it might disturb people. But I used a little digital photo camera to record, noone even noticed it.
i cant remember it exactly...but it must have been between 11 and 11:30 am. but i am not too sure though. I never actually noticed that Air Canada Bird... thanks for mentioning
It really was a heavy take off even though flight time to Dubai is only about 6 hours, but the plane was fully loaded..no empty seats and probably lots of cargo i guess

@shmuck50 B744 is abbreviated for the Boeing 747-400.
The B747 is just the Boeing 747 Type in general. Sorry for the late reply xD

This aircraft is nowhere near MTOW. It's not heavy, just derated thrust. And you can see the vertical speed is quite high.
Nice vid anyway.

I am not talking about callsigns, I am talking about the weight of the aircraft.

Is that heathrow terminal 5 being built?
windsorbays 3 years ago
the real difference is that 744 stands for 747-400 model version while B747 can stand for any kind of model
qwertyguy76 3 years ago
it is actually the same: 744 stands for 747-400, which is the newest version of the 747. Its just a way of making it shorter.
Flowis311 3 years ago
actually the newest is the 747-8
thefsxflyer 3 years ago
hasn't been released yet, so still it's not the newest. ;)
