  • i couldn't have made it through the 90s without everclear or the toadies! There is a lesson or a story behind every song. Have seen them in concert...they rock!

  • oh my god ppl chill out, freaking out on each other, Everclear is a good band this is a good song, the end

  • 2 people don't have pale green stars in their room

  • I love this song <3

  • incest?!?!?! what song are you listening to?!?!?! Young child from a broken(breaking) home maybe,...but incest!?!?!?!

  • Hahaha what an idiot!!!

  • Unless people mistake the theme of the song it's about incest. I have read many comments here saying how this song nostalgically reminded them of their childhoods...I hope not.

  • @Prometheus1st you moron, this song is about a father and a child, pay more attention before you assume things

  • @sarawinchester15 hey take it easy.... no need to be calling people morons..

  • sparkle and fade is one of the best albums from the 90's, and its one of my favorite albums. If u dont have it and like good music i reccomend u buy it, i got it used at a cd store for 4$. And i dont regret it. Everclear's first albums, World of Noise and Sparkle and Fade are their best, the rest arnt as good though

  • amazing album

  • I used to listen to this song over and over when I was a teenager. This whole album in fact.

  • i absolutly love this song, it reminds me of me and when my dad left

  • its weird, i never even heard of everclear until i was 17, but some of their songs... this one specifically... always bring me back to my childhood, and the grey old town where i grew up... i love everclear.

  • Such a sad song

  • someone shud change that babies diaper =D

  • Great band, nice memories from these songs. . .even though some of them are heartbreaking.

    "Hey, hey, Daddy's going away. . ."

  • yeah, I loved all the songs, but Summerland, twistinside, heartspark, all awesome songs. One of my first cds, and when I just started listening again, they sound great still!

  • this was my first fuckin cd when i was a kid. man i wish i still had it

  • I always loved this song... skip past Santa Monica, Summerland, all the other songs - straight to Pale Green Stars. Just awesome. I love the hooky guitar lines (i.e. 1:14-1:37 and 1:38-1:53)

This was recorded at Smart Studios with Butch Vig too... I never knew that, what an awesome coincidence.

  • very realistic. That´s life ,the real life.

  • love it...

  • my fave everlcear song...it's actually pretty sad...chemical smile makes ME smile...got a chemical smile now...

  • this song always meant so much to me in my youth - it helped me get through my parents divorce...helped me realize that the world is imperfect, but we can find happiness through the pain. a timeless album that i still listen to on long cruises.

  • These guys disappeared in a hurry, and sure, they sucked live, but you've gotta admit they've got a few good hooks, and infectious little tunes. Granted, I pawned all their CDs years ago, but still, it's doing them a disservice to only remember them for Santa Monica.

  • WTF is worng with you. everclear is still on tour and are still great. music changed cuz they got older and evolved. hes more in to politics now tho

  • @integraracer157

No. Everclear blows now. This album is great, and World of Noise is mind-blowing, but now they're just generic washed-up rockstars cranking out boring tunes in hopes of making a Top 40 hit for the mainstream crowd. It's almost like a betrayal of sorts, but don't disrespect their first two albums by saying their new stuff is of a similar calibur.

  • @LivesUnderABridge look at silverchair, as everyone gets older the music changes. just most time not for better, but the talent is still there and they still play there old stuff at shows.

  • Pale Green Stars. He must mean those glow-in-the-dark stars that you stick to your ceiling.

  • I always thought the same thing for years lol

  • music with so much feeling, not sweeping under the rug how cruel the world is, with bubbly happy music, these guys are a relief from all the tranquilizing music out there.

  • its amazing how much crap music is out there ... and how many people actually listien to crap music and say its good ... i'll tell you how u know its a good song .. if you can play it over nd over again without getting bored

  • @yourboycal Mmm, agreed. I've also found that sometimes with the songs i'll seemingly always love all my life, they're often the ones that you don't have that instant love for from the start - you build up a taste for the lyrics, melodies within the song over time.

  • cool.

  • udderly.
