i couldn't have made it through the 90s without everclear or the toadies! There is a lesson or a story behind every song. Have seen them in concert...they rock!
Unless people mistake the theme of the song it's about incest. I have read many comments here saying how this song nostalgically reminded them of their childhoods...I hope not.
sparkle and fade is one of the best albums from the 90's, and its one of my favorite albums. If u dont have it and like good music i reccomend u buy it, i got it used at a cd store for 4$. And i dont regret it. Everclear's first albums, World of Noise and Sparkle and Fade are their best, the rest arnt as good though
its weird, i never even heard of everclear until i was 17, but some of their songs... this one specifically... always bring me back to my childhood, and the grey old town where i grew up... i love everclear.
yeah, I loved all the songs, but Summerland, twistinside, heartspark, all awesome songs. One of my first cds, and when I just started listening again, they sound great still!
I always loved this song... skip past Santa Monica, Summerland, all the other songs - straight to Pale Green Stars. Just awesome. I love the hooky guitar lines (i.e. 1:14-1:37 and 1:38-1:53)
This was recorded at Smart Studios with Butch Vig too... I never knew that, what an awesome coincidence.
this song always meant so much to me in my youth - it helped me get through my parents divorce...helped me realize that the world is imperfect, but we can find happiness through the pain. a timeless album that i still listen to on long cruises.
These guys disappeared in a hurry, and sure, they sucked live, but you've gotta admit they've got a few good hooks, and infectious little tunes. Granted, I pawned all their CDs years ago, but still, it's doing them a disservice to only remember them for Santa Monica.
No. Everclear blows now. This album is great, and World of Noise is mind-blowing, but now they're just generic washed-up rockstars cranking out boring tunes in hopes of making a Top 40 hit for the mainstream crowd. It's almost like a betrayal of sorts, but don't disrespect their first two albums by saying their new stuff is of a similar calibur.
@LivesUnderABridge look at silverchair, as everyone gets older the music changes. just most time not for better, but the talent is still there and they still play there old stuff at shows.
music with so much feeling, not sweeping under the rug how cruel the world is, with bubbly happy music, these guys are a relief from all the tranquilizing music out there.
its amazing how much crap music is out there ... and how many people actually listien to crap music and say its good ... i'll tell you how u know its a good song .. if you can play it over nd over again without getting bored
@yourboycal Mmm, agreed. I've also found that sometimes with the songs i'll seemingly always love all my life, they're often the ones that you don't have that instant love for from the start - you build up a taste for the lyrics, melodies within the song over time.
i don't understand what "UR" means? maybe you should ask the band how to spell it. just because you probably met the band like twice or something and you think he remembers you? no way dude.
I love the 90's. I recently got into everclear again, and I have to say they are a great band. It's a shame Art has gone through as many troubles as he has. He really has talent.
how's this my name is Amanda I have green and blue stars all over my room, and my dad went to prison....I balled the frist time I heard this song. This is like my song, there's just that connection, ya know?
this is actuLally litteral about me. my name is Amanda. I sleep with the light on. I h8 being yelled at, im skinny as a pole, always getting punished, used 2 call my room my "house" had imaginary friends. I swear its true... my dad also used 2 travel when he worked 4 MCI. always got scared (sibs jumping at me) in 1st grade i would scream my crushes name out the window, addicted to the moon. this is litteraly about me, and idk hpw thy got info on me like that!!
