I must say... the mustang has gone downhill in recent years... the old ones were awesome, and the new ones are pure crap. I'd rather have a 1966 than a 2006. They're clunky, terrible visibility, all over the road, totally unstable at speed, and the interior is just pure cheap crap. Very disappointing. But hey... when your whole country is bankrupt, what can you expect?!

It's either in one of Clarkson's solo DVDs or the old Top Gear before it was canceled. Most likely a mid-2000's DVD based on his looks, the production quality and how he talks, and unless you live in the UK they're hard to track down; even finding torrents to download.

Sputnik 4 was launched in 1960...and Sputnik 4-10 was all done in the 60's. That was when people really started noticing a need for space travel and the space race began...so technically Jeremy is correct

In CA there is mandatory insurance, as I'm sure there is in your state, I know it isn't in WI yet. However, it's not the same, the fastbacks tend to have a sporty Carburetor on the 289CID, this means more speed, BUT because there is no ABS steering or brakes, Insurance companies don't want peeps under 27 driving these vehicles.

I certainly wouldn't describe the styling of the 1973-2000 Mustang a transcendence. The recently updated styling is a lot better (though they could have left the taillights alone) It seems that Chevy might have a good car with the new Camaro, even if it was too little too late (typical GM business move)

To be fair, the new Obamamobile Camaro looks nice. But there is a very good reason the Mustang has been in production since 1964. Nah, not necessarily more powerful, Mustangs were pretty light, maybe 2500 pounds-3000lbs max. Only reason people think they're heavy is because the suspension Ford used was not the best and made em clunk around a bit.

Also, the 289 was a bit underrated if I recall. I know a lot of Pontiac V8s were underrated in the '60's. One was claimed to have an output of around 250bhp, when in fact it had around 400!!

What Clarkson meant is he like what it represented at the times, the fact that this car cost only $2,300 brand new, it was the car for EVERYONE, it was rebelious, fresh, and invigorating. Built by AMERICANS at an AMERICAN CAR COMPANY with AMERICAN STEEL.

The 60s Mustang, much like many Muscle Cars, was built in a laid back atmosphere, where you can have a good time, regardless of horsepower, regardless of the type of muscle car you had or anything else.

In today's times, unfortunately, people have become obsessed with the type of car you drive, performance, horsepower, etc.

The newest Mustang, although exciting with its re-invented retro 60s look, seems mundane and redundant because rival muscle cars and imports are leaving it in their dust. It's not powerful, fuel efficient, small back seat, and its high performance versions are too expensive.

The downside to Clarkson, as excellent as he is, he seems he's contradictory on some types of cars, but it's he liked it, then hated it later on or vice versa; he had an opinion for or against the car and then "retract his previous statement" after trying it.
