Sick of seeing people worship power hungry, child snatching, clowns like the Saxe-Coberg-Goethas a.k.a. Winsor family of German and Nazi eugenicists? The Royals are not merely ceremonial relics nor are they the gods of humanity. They are an archaic reminders of what happens when a untethered ruling class starves its people, then plays the benevolant savior, and wages war on every other civilization in sight while claiming divine rights to enslave humantiy. Damn these modern homages to pure evil!
@mcmlxvi You should stick your opinions to the government system of your own country, whether a country chooses to become a Republic or a Monarchy is a matter of sovereignty and unless you are a citizen of any of those countries you have NOTHING to say on the matter. I am French and I would rather die before I see the French throne restored, but I would never insult or say anything negative about the Monarchs in Britain, Denmark or Spain. it's a matter of RESPECT, learn some.
You forgot Quentin Crisp, possibly the only male actor ever played Elizabeth I of England in Orlando 1992 starring Tilda Swinton, now my favorites are Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren, and Judi Dench. my least favorites are Anne Marie-Duff Bette Davis, and Jean Simmons but then the last two were forced into those certain over the top old hollywood styles of acting which was the standard back then, Still I can't imagine the real Queen Elizabeth acted that way in real life.
Not sure about the alzheimer's---she appeared to be pretty lucid right up until the quick decline before her death. I've read in a few places that the cause of death was septicemia (infection in blood stream) brought on my severe tooth decay. Also read that it was poisoning caused by the white makeup she wore later in life---one of the ingredients was a powered arsenic. Truth is probably somewhere in the middle---combination of several factors.
@mew1903 You are right mew, she was fine than suddenly declined very rapidly. That is not at all like Alzheimers. I believe it was likely that she was poisioned. The jesuits had tried openly to assassinate her numerous times before and failed. I believe they accomplished it secretly as to not work up the people of England who loved her. There are several works which show the possibilty of her assassination if you are interested. A poisoned pin on the saddle of her horse.
Can anyone tell me why, in one scene, they chose to depict Queen Elizabeth dying with her fingers in her mouth? What was that all about? Did that really happen, in real life?
Wow, that's interesting. The idea that Queen Elizabeth I died with a touch of Alzheimer's is such a dramatic end to her life story. Quite Shakespearean.
@TachieBillano Yes. She stood for some time with her fingersin her mouth.then lay on some cushions and finally was persuaded to go to bed. I think she lost her power of speech some time before she died. She was very healthy until a month or 2 before her death but seemed to go into decline after the death of one of her old remaining friends the Countess of Nottingham . As osmeone else menioned the most likley cause of death was an infection caused by a tooth abcess.

@CallXenaWarrior Good choices. My favorite will always be Glenda Jackson but applaud the others. Incidentally, back in the dark ages Bette Davis did an impressive Elizabeth I in The Private Lives Of Elizabeth And Essex, an historical botch but pretty good theater.
the best ever has been Flora Robson, perhaps you should add her to your list, best ever portrayal of Queen I

If she was around today wouldn`t she be the daughter of an established actor or musician or a politician

@liz2saintvideos Most likely if she were around today she'd still be Queen, and probably a PR nightmare.
