Secret's pretty well out on the unison bend in the main Whole Lotta Love riff, but this is the first time I've seen anyone mention the little embellishment towards the end. It sounds to me like it's a separate part that was overdubbed separately. Jimmy Page was always up to something...
I know these guitars became the Telecaster with the addition of the neck pickup, but that body style looks odd without it. Maybe it's because I've always seen Teles, while Esquires are kinda new to me.
@pepeotf45 think frettedamericana released a copy called the tonemonster?? sounds awesum, check ther website i rekon...p.s-im not on commission...Yet!
@frettedamericana haha put me on the spot why don't you! well i might...not heard much of them tho...il check your website...just tweeted phil btw, remind him to play sum "Reef-Give me your love" for like a strat in neck/mid position!! lol later...or electric ladyland...
@bellers you should listen to some of the latest videos where Phil has been playing through the Evil Robot - the amp is amazing and if you want a reference, i have a client who came here from CT and is absolutely raving about it. Email me and i'll give you his email and you can chat with him about it.
If I had one and the talent required I'd use it for the intro of Victim Of Love by The Eagles. That also sound a bit like the sound after 2:14 :o)# One of my favourite Eagles songs.
my 60's airline has one pickup at the bridge and one tone nob that does exactly the same thing as this esquire. i use that tone all the time as a crazy ass fuzz tone.
i thought jimmy played the a7 and b7 like a shuffle. LOL he's so right when zeppelin does anything its awesome even when they play other bands songs u know zep rocks. would have been awesome if he played hotdog by zep would have sounded really twangy lol
the vox ac 30 is particularly VERY special. especially mid-60's. people have been using them for superb clean tones in the studio and live for years. the thing is, when this puppy has every knob on 10, it totally rocks but it would be too darn loud for our little room. if i'm not mistaken jimmy page used marshalls live but in the studio, it was usually an ac30. wow, right??
@0:57 that's a darn close "woman tone" for a tele.

@PeteAndJakee - not true, there is not a second PU under the pickguard. Fender didn't do that in 1956, only on some VERY early models of the Esquire.
