Mushroomhead started in 93 Slipknot started in the late 95 Mushroomheads basist Pig Benis took over his brothers spot in the band in early 95 there for Slipknot not only copied the mask but they also copied the pig mask Mushroomhead and Slipknot were friends till Clown stared running his mouth That is how the feud started between them When Paul Gray died Mushroomhead tried to end the feud with a RIP message The only feud that is going on now is the maggots who wont let it go because of ignorance

Now, keep in mind that this was months after Gray's death, and negativity the towards Slipknot had not resolved from the Cleveland Cult. Despite my attempts at maintaining the peace between us, explaining how I was both a die-hard Slipknot and Mushroomhead fan, the grueling aggravation had not subsided. Besides, Paul changed his mask from the pig mask, while Pig kept his. Seems reasonable to me. Slipknot and Mushroomhead were never friends, and Clown most certainly did not begin the feud between themselves. It was the fans, mostly. If you're going to blame anyone, blame every last fan.

When I was much younger I listened to Slipknot more because Mushroomhead's sound was too eclectic and I only liked a few select songs, but as I got older, the Slipknot CD's went in the garbage but the shame of owning them remains as I moved onto Meshuggah and the like but I can now appreciate Mushroomhead much more and I think they are a much better band for that reason. They just't weren't as popular because they didn't make mass marketed "I'm angry" music, it was layered and avant garde.

After you pass the age of 16 you begin to realise that slipknot is just a guy screaming down a microphone, 2 guys playing notes a 10 year old could play within 3 lessons, Joey jordison spamming on the drums and the DJ and "sampler" do fuck all. Mushroomhead came out about 3 months before Slipknot so it kind of seems to me like they're "copy cats" in my opinion. then again Insane Clown Posse, Gwar, Kiss, and Mushroomhead all accuse Slipknot of copying the costume bit but musically I'd prefer Slipknot if i wanna hear a song with good attack. Mushroomhead if i wanted to listen to something that was better put together.

Two different styles of music. MRH was formed first, wore masks first, got an offer from Roadrunner first. Being from Ohio, I have seen MRH many, many times. Great band, always great shows. I have seen Slipknot live and it was a great show. The moral of the story: both bands are great. Slipknot's first major label album was released two years before MRH's first major label album, possibly giving them the edge, giving the general public the image that MRH is the copycat band.
