It's the same reason drag racers make several passes trying to get their times quicker off the line, to get better numbers. But i'm sure after some time running the cars they will know how to drive them very well.
@losganjaless I know that, and from what I've heard the ZR-1 is really hard to control because it has RWD and 640hp it's completely mad and it's only a really fast car in the hands of a very good driver. The GT-R is far more controlled and stable, people say because it has so many gizmos it's not a proper driver car but pretty much every car show out there has said that the GT-R is a great car to get in and just drive.
....and at what price? The ZR-1 is 30,000$ more expensive, has only 2 seats, doesn't have a big boot, weighs a LOT less and has 160hp more than the GT-R....and yet it only managed to be 0.3 seconds faster around the nurburgring. You people praise the ZR-1 like it's God's creation. I won't lie, the ZR-1 is damn impressive but in my opinion it's not the 'king' as a lot of you people say it is.

Youve got to realize that over 90% of the GTRs that are sold are going to end up being used for drag racing. That whole "durp, it can go around corners so fast!" thing isn't going to really matter to the owners and future purchasers. Most people are just looking for that quick burst of speed, so they can either buy an 80k or just buy a 80's monte and burn rubber.

@mitsubishirocks1 no worries I used to think the same thing. That just means the Evo had a better reaction time to the light which allowed him to take off before the gtr. The gtr pulled in a quicker time but the evo took off before the gtr and was able to reach the finish line first before the gtr could catch up. Timing only starts once you leave the line, whoever gets to the finish line first after the light turns green will win regardless of what each car ran.

learn how to read. there´s only one GTR for sale at my local dealer for 96.000€ (=around $126.000) which IS overpriced for a high 11s "NISSAN". also - there are street legal muscle cars running even 6s at the 1/4 mile (currently the worlds fastest street legal car. tim lynch´s ZR1 which ran a 6.3 at the 1/4 mile on street approved tires). not to mention the huge amount of street legal 7s muscle cars which are probably still cheaper than a stock GTR. also GTR is boring:awd/automatic/launchcontrol

96.000€ [around $126.000] (the only one that´s for sale at my local dealer) for nissan that runs high 11 ? c´mon ... it´s (offcially) not even a skyline. just a overpriced japanese 4 seater with semi auomatic transmission,all wheel drive, electronic launch control etc .... a car that barely accelerates fast for its power output due to its advanced technology. the design is boring, too (not to mention the sound of a stock GTR ...sounds like any other V6 engine)

@cb7pwn oh please it takes practice to get that shit right especially with monster powered vehicles, when i first started driving my R33 it was a bitch shifting properly, even now i cant say i can shift fast enough in a race without hitting the limiter. bad drivers my ass the difference in driving capability is strictly experience, put a f1 car driver behind the wheel of a skyline and he will drive it to shit no hands, put you behind the wheel of an F1 car and u wouldnt be able to hit 1st gear

@MissFelicia24 not really - the GTR spec V was tested and ran a 11.5 at the 1/4 mile. still close to half a second slower than a stock ZR1. ALSO - the GTR Spec V is 115.000€ which is definetely too much for a mid 11 sec Nissan :) - simply another overrated japanese car - this time even overpriced :D

It's the same reason drag racers make several passes trying to get their times quicker off the line, to get better numbers. But i'm sure after some time running the cars they will know how to drive them very well.

@losganjaless I know that, and from what I've heard the ZR-1 is really hard to control because it has RWD and 640hp it's completely mad and it's only a really fast car in the hands of a very good driver. The GT-R is far more controlled and stable, people say because it has so many gizmos it's not a proper driver car but pretty much every car show out there has said that the GT-R is a great car to get in and just drive.

The ZR-1 is 30,000$ more expensive, has only 2 seats, doesn't have a big boot, weighs a LOT less and has 160hp more than the GT-R....and yet it only managed to be 0.3 seconds faster around the nurburgring. You people praise the ZR-1 like it's God's creation. I won't lie, the ZR-1 is damn impressive but in my opinion it's not the 'king' as a lot of you people say it is.

Love the EVO MR; great race! LOL at the comments of defending the POOR $85,000 being matched or beat by other platforms. The GTR is great, EVOs are great, some muscle are great. But to say the GTR isn't made for straightaways, hello, meet Evolution. It has AWD and was/is rally. It wasn't made for straightaways either, but responds wicked well to mods and gives lots of cars regardless of price a run for their money!

1. the GT-R was never built for drag racing
2. it can do 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds, name any american production car that costs 80grand that can do that
3. the GT-R has literally run over many american/european/import sports cars, sometimes for HALF the price.
4. the GT-R is seen as a new benchmark for the whole world of automotive industries
5. and even after that it can still be an all day family car
Trust me, no gt-r fan will ever believe you if you say it's crap

@GTASAmovies1 Btw, you can say the same thing for the Evo. They weren't meant for drag either, the Evo X has a higher skippad than the GT-R R35. But I see Evo's doing fine in the track and strip.
And if you think GT-R wasn't built for drag racing, go take it up to AMS where they built a low 9 second R35.
And number 5 is bs, I've sat in one. There is absolutely NO leg room in the backseat. I'd need to break off my legs and tie it around my neck for me to fit in there.

The GT-R's origin comes from track racing, and the developers behind the GT-R said that It's suppose to shine in the corners a lot more than on a straight line. If they really want their cars to go around corners they should use limited slip diffs, which they wont because it would have added an extra 5 grand on the price tag. People don't buy mustang for the corners anyway, so Ford didn't bother

Majority of vehicles aren't built for drag racing, but that doesn't mean that it shouldnt do well in a STRAIGHT LINE!
Youve got to realize that over 90% of the GTRs that are sold are going to end up being used for drag racing. That whole "durp, it can go around corners so fast!" thing isn't going to really matter to the owners and future purchasers. Most people are just looking for that quick burst of speed, so they can either buy an 80k or just buy a 80's monte and burn rubber.

And seriously 90%? there are a hell lot of gtr's out there that are being used track days and circuit racing. The viper and zr1 are both 2-seaters, weigh a LOT less, have around 160hp MORE and yet the GT-R can still keep up with them! Hell, even the zr1 is only .3 seconds faster around the nurburgring.
