Great board but needs major tweaking like replacing the stock compound and doing the fan mod. The ram timings (advanced section) is a bitch to say it in lamens terms. Memory and I/O on Intel boards (all chipsets) just suck and holds back a very good core but isn't sufficient for my needs. Should have built a i7 rig only to fall short. But at least this board had a very good price. Landed mine on ebay for $30 then rma for $8.77. :D

Yes it will fit, and yes you can run 2 of them in SLI assuming you don't have anything get in the way of the SLI bridge.

More than likey you're running a Pentium 4, which is a socket 478, while this board supports socket LGA775 meaning no it won't carry over. There are very cheap processors and cheaper motherboards out there however, so a system upgrade is still a viable option.

I had a celeron and it ran good :O single core, and a 6 year old mobo XD 3.0Ghz, finally fried when I stuck a 9400GT graphics card, didn't know enough to know that 250W PSU wouldn't work *cough* was a 6 year old emachines from a back to school special :P

but hey, ran basic games like doom 3, fable, and others smoothly ^^

It works just fine for me, but then I bought this at launch and would have bought something else if I had the time for it. It's not a bad board, there's just better. If you're looking for just overclocking fun a P45/P55 would probably be best. For gaming, X58 has better SLI scaling than the 780i does so it'd probably be a better choice, albeit a much more expensive one.

there is a problem all of those motherboards exept for the 780i are only for core i7. I don't own and neither do i want one. I'm fine with my 2.8ghz dual core that i will be overclocking soon to 3.5 ghz. But thanks anyway.

Yes this will support Core 2 Quad.

You need a graphics card for this motherboard as there is no onboard video.

If you're gaming, get at least a 9800 GT.

If not, you can get an 8600 GT for like 50 bucks or spend a little more for a much better 9600 GT.

I personally use a 9800 GTX+, but there are nicer cards out there, i.e. GTX 260-295.

GTx 260. It's a Geforce 200 series card,it's barely under the GTX 280 and it can play Crysis at 1920 x 1200 resolution with average 53 fps with ultra high detail (Crysis being the most graphic intense game).

Crysis is not the most graphically intensive game, it was just coded and rendered in a very inefficient way that crippled any GPU that didn't have a huge amount of processing power, and it's a memory bandwidth whore.

Too much ram, you won't be using anywhere near that amount, and if this is a gaming build you should go for either a dual core, or an X58 board if you're going with SLI/CF or a P45 board if you're just going to use 1 video card.

It'll read the 1066 ram sticks, might downclock them to 800 however but you can manually overclock them back to their original clock, most people however link their ram clock closely to their fsb, so under normal circumstances you'll be well under your default clocks.

the greatest modular PSU in my opinion is the line of cosair hx series, get the evga 9800gtx+, good and a little cheap for the price, get an acer brand screen, they have great LCDs for reasonable prices, i wouldnt say this system is good but it still gets the job done. What id reccomend is the gtx 295 which would really let you play crysis and the other games, but it will cost as twice or triple the price.

Slot no. 2 is PCI-E 1 X16....all of them run at X16 simultaneously......Slot 1 and 3 is PCI-E 2.0 X16, while slot 2 is PCIE X16. =)
