  • True classic, one of the best PC games ever!

  • A piece of my childhood ;-(

  • Loed this game back in 96/97..I only had the demo but it was still so much fun! just the red car and two tracks! and then after playing for ages we discovered that there were stock cars too!! It was so much fun lapping those dumb racers over and over!

  • Runs like a dog in DosBox, even on a fairly fast 32bit CPU like a Core Duo (64bit CPUs are actually worse in running DOS games under DosBox)

Oh, and it won't run under CMD.EXE (which uses Virtual8086 and should run it close to native speed).

I appreciate the work done in DosBox, and the fact it can run in non-x86 systems, but full emulation (the thing DosBox does) is simply not needed for a x86 machine. Why can't someone make a Virtua8086-based DOS emulator, (or a VT-x, AMD-V one) for Windows?

  • i love this game

i played it a lot back then!

  • A friend of mine actually taught me the basics of shifting on this. When I strated learning how to drive I fell back on it :P

  • I remember this. More fun than it looks like.

  • I grown up on this game among others. Me and my neighbors we usualy spend the whole saturday, and sunday afternoons just playing this in split screen when we were kids. Aaah fun times. We used to play with Stock Cars mostly, instead of F1, tho.

  • @skaruts

Same here. I and my brother spent hours playing this at night. No other game has come close to getting the right mix of fun and risk vs reward like this game. I still can't place my finger on what made this game so addictive.

  • I remember this!! Michael Schumachers old Bennetton Renault is the Background Picture for the main menu!

  • thanks for sharing this video. I remember the good old days when me and my close friend played this for the whole . osome game. playing this game in 2 player mode was too good

  • I can`t play this game under DosBox, it doesn't work. U_U

    It's a great game

  • The music is sooooo mid 90's hehe...

  • Haste was, biste was.

  • heh, memories. also nice soundtrack, but my 386/20 sx actually only managed 3 seconds per frame :(

  • man, i haven't experienced 1st person view. How can this be toggled?

  • Aww... good memories, I´ll find it by play it again. :)

  • Does this allow for analog steering?

  • played a lot over null-modem cable

  • How did you get the game to run so smoothly? I have pretty decent hardware, and whether I set DOSBox's CPU cycle usage to auto or something ridiculously high, the game is unplayably choppy.

  • Go play on an old comp with MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 98 SE.

  • I know I can just do that (and I have here and there), but it's highly inconvenient to have to hook up a monitor and contend with a phenomenally unstable OS (it's bad on that computer, trust me) just to play a game, hence me inquiring about DOSBox.

  • Yeah man. I have a bunch of DOS games I'd like to play, but I need to use stuff that requires Windows XP. I wish DosBOX did better at emulating it, since in some games it runs slow, and in other games the sound stutters a lot... etc

    :-/

  • i don't understand why dosbox can't run these games when there's flawless emulator that run sega nintendo or arcade machine games.

    and i hate microsoft.

i hope gates dies of cancer.

  • mostly because emulating a DOS computer is MUCH more complicated. Also, DOSBox is much newer to the scene vs. console emulators that have been around since the late 90's. There was no need to have a DOS emulator until XP became prevalent as 95, 95 and ?2000? didn't have problems running these games. It'll get there, it gets better with every update.

  • Lol i used to play this all the time when i was like 10 years old

  • oh man, i really loved this game back in the mid '90s.

  • The most funny part is read those fake ads xD.

    Poyo Tyres

    Piat

    Maldoro

  • they ain't got no licence 4 da real ones

  • @icedlain

Yeah, at the start of the first race there's 'Good Yeer' lol

  • You can download it from 486games. net :) it works in xp with dosbox! It's so cool!

  • I still remember the music from this game. Too bad it's not compatible with the Windows XP Home.

  • wow! classic... and to thinks it was only 7 megs.. hee hee

  • Nice tip for the fans (if any?): Start a two player game and block the road completely :)

Oh yeah, I remember, if you bounced some walls you actually could take a rideoutside the actual track. There was nothing there though.

  • I remember this game. Always thought the dashboard was made of dinosaur skull.

  • i think there was nearly no physic engine

  • That's why it's called an arcade racing game ;)

  • good point ;)

  • I renember how hard was to put this damn game in SVGA mode

  • Ah classic game...
