  • is that really Ip Chun? woah woah woaaah, waaait a minute, is taht even bruce lee!? wtf man! :O

  • @3.31 ip chun blocks hi and bruce hits air low

  • @1.35 sounds like bruce is saying "my head" lol

  • ip chun looks epic xD

  • HI HE HO HY HEH HO IY YE OJEE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Ip man taught Bruce until others objected as he was half blood, then he asked Wong shun leung to continue his teaching. Bruce considered Wong shun leung to be his main tutor. They remained close friends until his sudden death.

  • Greetings, I am the Self-Proclaimed "Duke" of Wisdom, Henry The Wise. I must ask that you all please stop your debate. The subject has been (long sinse) diluded. I believe that history is based on 50% fact, 30% speculation and the rest merely Bias Opinion. Here's my fast, that is to say my Bias Opinion. I'm sure that NEITHER OF US were around 50 to 90 years ago, so all of our so called "FACTS" are but others speculations and opinions filtered down by even more speculations and thrice opinions.

  • Derp

  • I think I replied to the wrong post...but you get the picture...Dan Inosanto also documented that this was the case.

  • Bruce didn't get injured in a fight he got injured working out. Get your facts straight. The depiction of his fight with Wong Jackman in the famous film with Jason Scott Lee was TOTAL FICTION. Look up "Bruce Lee's toughest fight" on google.

And for the record Bruce Lee only knew Siu Lim Tau, Cham Kiu, and 1 to 60 of the Wooden Dummy. It was because his master refused to teach him the rest that he created Jeet Kune Do. Ip Chun was there and he said so and I believe him. Get your facts straight

  • @TheSonicWizard -Yes you are right.

  • @TheSonicWizard do you know if ip chun recieved full training from his father or was he restricted from that as well?

  • God reading some of you idiots comments give me a headache ip taught Bruce. Bruce came to the states and taught wing chun and while teaching developed jun fut jeet June do. while he was injured from a fight is when him and his wife really got into creating his amazing art then he started acting do your home work before starting a debate

  • I loved this movie, but it did no justice in explaining his life.

  • Don't hate the sounds , the editing programs and the chinese cinema of movie making is very different from the western world's cinema style.

  • Bruce Lee was one of Ip Man's well known students, am i right? Ip Chun could still anyone's ass today lmao

  • Big ooops at 3:33.

Backpedalling, Ip Chun misreads a punch that wasn't coming! They should have reshot that bit.

Apart from the actor wearing too much blue eye shadow here, when will people finally accept that Bruce Lee was an apostate of Wing Chun!

  • @DizzyDerwish If you understand Wing Chun and the training of it, you will know that, that move wasn't a Fail. Get your facts straight next time.

  • @eppsislike

I point out another Ip mistake- at 3:26 he executes what is known as a wrong bong sao.

Your word choice 'Fail' betrays you are young and impressionable.

You are no doubt new to the system.

To someone like you, offhand contradiction is a rebuttal.

  • HO HAI EE HO EE CHII HO HEE CHEE HAHH HAOO

  • LOL... 3:33.... Fail

  • TI HI HO HA TI HEU HOK HEI HEI HOK TI AU AH TI HO HEI!

  • Bruce Lee only learned the first half of the Wing Chun forms during his studies with Master Yip man for 3 years before he left to USA. The latter part which he didn't learned are Wooden Dummy, Six & half point pole, Double Butterfly knives and several others advanced unarmed combat technique such as trapping, thrusting finger, breaking leg skills, etc...which Master Yip Man has imparted his advanced knowledge to his several most trusted closed-door disciples...except Bruce Lee.

  • Weird...according to the source, Bruce Lee has never learn the wooden dummy technique before he left HK for USA. It's true that Yip Man never wanted to teach to non-chinese because of his bad experiences during Japanese occupation in his hometown & Bruce Lee didn't know about his Master's past life & so he broke his Master's promise & respect and taught openly to outsider to his Master dismay without consequences. It's silly to made this clip because Bruce had never learn wooden dummy before.

  • @ACShorse True.

Also, because Bruce Lee was a 1/4 German on his mother's side he was looked down upon.

Yip Man (publically at any rate) never taught him directly.

He learnt mostly from Wong Shun Leung.

  • @WingChum Yip Man was well-aware of Bruce's ethnicity and he hold no reservation of teaching Bruce during his first three years in Wing Chun. The only reason Yip Man didn't taught Bruce in advanced part was due the promise he broke for teaching Wing Chun openly to outsider. Ever heard of the story when Bruce returned to HK, he somewhat almost bribe his Master to allow him film the wooden dummy, in return to buy him a bigger home, thus hurt his Master's self-respect. He didn't know he did wrong.

  • @ACShorse Interesting, there seems to be some debate about WHY Yip Man forbade Bruce from teachin in the USA.

Some say because he was teaching non-chinese and others say that because Lee only studied Wing Chun for 3 years he was simply not qualified to teach the art by Yip Man's standdards?

  • @WingChum I respected Bruce Lee. He was very talented and gifted martial artist and it's not just because he's no qualified to teach Wing Chun. Yip man and Bruce Lee, both were bought up differently due to life background and education. Yip man received Chinese Education and was influenced by Confucianism and has strong feeling for nationalism. Through Yip man's wealth possession may have lost everything to the war but he can bear the hardship and content on what he had in life in HK. Bruce....

  • @WingChum Bruce, on the other hand, educated in English school in HK and philosophy and deeply influenced by pragmatism. Bruce's life is measured by fame and wealth. Before Bruce became famous for his invention in JKD, at that time, Bruce was young and naive, he didn't understand the important meaning of honor and respect for his Master due to different education upbringing. When Bruce lee was young, he was a fan of James Dean and admired him dearly so he was a bit of rebellious type.

  • those arent the sounds that bruce lee makes! this is crap!

  • IT'S IP CHUN !! HAHAHHAHA COOL!!

  • haha! listen to bruce li at 1:37 when he said "eat my hip!" that's my favourite part of this scene. lol!

  • @300589389 you sir are awsome xD

  • what a movie

  • i wanted a wooden dummy untill i looked it up and found out it was hella expensive.

  • "You can teach Kung Fu all over the world.", Yip Man

    =/ yeah right.

  • ..."HUI! HOI! HA! HUH! HUH! HA! HA! HOI!...HUH! HUH! HHA!!!!..."

Hope the translation help, my friend! Anymore help in the future, do subscribe to me!!!

  • what was he saying when he was stroking the wooden dummy?

  • Has anyone noticed that "Bruce" has eye shadow on?

  • @Solandrios He does not...

    *Squints*

    WOAH HE DOES

  • funny thing is, bruce lee never learned the dummy form, or Biu-Tze, or Chum Kiu lol

  • mmm thats not true... bruce lee learn wing chun when he was a kid... in wing chum you most lear the dummy form

  • Mmmm no sir. Si-Jo ip man taught only 3 people the dummy form after Bruce Lee started learning. It was Leung Ting and his maternal Uncle, but i forget his name, but Leung learned at his uncles house. And the other guy was just another student of Yip. Bruce learned for like 4 years under Ip Man before going to the states. Maybe nowadays the WC people teach the dummy, but i garuntee the applications are shite. If you wan't more info email me, copenhagen_smile21@yahoo

  • lol i dont think the applications are shit. have yu learnt the applications? you shouldn't insult that particular drill of wing chun just cause bruce lee didnt learn it

  • haha man i used to have this on vhs years and years ago, what was this film called?

  • The dubbing has reached a new level is shitness.

  • could also be after the death of bruce lee.. look for bruce li :)

  • i like the fact ip-chun is staring in this flim

  • i really don't like dubbed movies :P... tat actor is no bruce lee, i guess this film was filmed after bruce lee passed away and at the time HK need a new kung fu star and somewhat 'bruce lee' lookalike...

glad to see young yip chung though! :)

  • bruce li looks kinda like brandon lee!

  • Ip Chun will be appear in another Ip Man movie The Young Ip Man playing Leung Bik at 85 years old Amazing

  • great,he is lovely person

  • ahahaha hilarious dubbing.

  • Ah man i was wrong, i do actually see that is Grand Master Ip chun now, cool ! Love the lap sau at 3:12, wish my lap sau could throw people across the room like that ;)

Is it me or does bruce say eat my hip on the muk jong?

  • That really ain't Bruce Lee, that's for sure...

  • obviously and the guy doing bruce lee isn't very good at "sticky hands"

and for a minute there i thought Ip Chun was actually speaking english

  • I hate the sounds!

  • This crap is total GARBAGE...AND NOT TRUE...Yip man NEVER WANTED LEE to teach us over here...Yip Man trusted no one but Chinese...The Japanese left a very sour taste in his mouth from the way the Chinese were treated...Lee was very special in the way he broke from Tradition by Teaching what little he learned to anyone...The Chinese absolutely hated the fact that Lee was teaching what little Wing Chun he knew to us. Yip was great no doubt about it...But he was traditional and wouldn't share.

  • your comment is true (very true) - but films never have reflected what goes on in the world.

  • yeah i totally understand you. I just wish that people would tell it like it is...no matter how boring it may be...I studied Lee's version of Wing Chun for a bit....two of his teachers in seattle are pretty good...Glover and Demile...I stuided under both of them.

  • it is not true what you said. IPman did teach others i have video proof watch?v=XSMy311BT7g

  • That is Ip Chun in the video not Ip Man (It is also Ip Chun in this video *playing the role of Ip Man in a film*)

  • @knowitall1975 This is Movie Hilarious.

I dind't know you knew Ip Man?

That is awesome, can you introduce me, when you're done making your movie that were commenting on right now and reading like a silly little goose...

    Please? Can We?

    Chill out know it all!

  • @knowitall1975 absolutely true. They had a falling out because of it. This little scene is total bogus.

  • @knowitall1975 thing is know one would know who ip man is, if it wasnt for bruce!

  • by the way,Bruce Lee had known very lot from the the style, not just little,he was a master ,and one of the bests

  • @knowitall1975 Its a film dude.....

  • Yip Man always liked Bruce Lee, and it was under the pressure of its few good for nothing students he has to dismiss Bruce from his class. Bruce was becoming a threat to IP man's existing students because of his skills. WONG SHUN LEUNG AND WILLIAM CHEUNG WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO SUPPORTED BRUCE LEE. YIP TOLD WONG SHUN LEUNG AND WILLIAM CHEUNG TO TRAIN BRUCE FURTHER OUTSIDE HIS CLASS. YIP MAN NEVER TAUGHT OUTSIDER BUT NEVER STOPPED BRUCE FROM TEACHING OUTSIDERS.

  • @knowitall1975 Actually, Yip was ok with teaching non-Chinese, because he taught Bruce Lee. Bruce was actually not pure Chinese lol, he was part German.

  • @knowitall1975 finally someone saying it how it was........

  • @knowitall1975 Yip Man knew that Bruce was not full blooded Chinese and he still trained him for 5 YEARS. 5 years of Wing Chun training is not a "little bit" as you stated, its ALOT! There would be no Bruce Lee if he never encountered Yip Man. No Bruce Lee= NO WING CHUN ANYWHERE BUT IN CHINA. I am not from China so thank god for BL!! And thank god for Yip Man!

  • @RangRing68

was agreeing until you said "No Bruce Lee= NO WING CHUN ANYWHERE BUT IN CHINA."

lol bruce lee wasnt teaching Wing chun, he was teaching JKD

  • @ashrocks87 I never said Bruce Lee taught Wing Chun in China or in the U.S. stupid. I know he developed and taught JKD in the U.S. (not China). JKD is mostly (but not all) Wing Chun with a mixture of other martial arts. No Wing Chun=no Yip Man,no Yip Man= no Bruce. Bruce and his JKD are rooted in Wing Chun. Without WC their is no Bruce and JKD.Without BL, WC would probably still be a unknown(or little known) outside of China. Learn to read fool.

  • @RangRing68

wow,, so much for saying " No Bruce Lee= NO WING CHUN ANYWHERE BUT IN CHINA."

do you think i dont know that you didnt say that bruce taught wing chun? you must be retarded.

do you even understand what "No Bruce Lee= NO WING CHUN ANYWHERE BUT IN CHINA" means?

before you try to tell other people to learn to read, you should actually learn to reread your comments first.. fucking fool.

  • @RangRing68

".Without BL, WC would probably still be a unknown"? idiot. Wc got famous because the Chinese produced the movie Ip Man.. you must live in a cave to not know that. yeah. caveman. you.

  • @ashrocks87 Wing Chun was made famous in the late 60's early 70's with Bruce and his films. Thats how the western world started to take notice of Bruce and his martial arts background with YM. The Donnie Yen's "Ip Man" movie (which came out in 2008 and 4 decades later) did not make WC famous stupid. Please forgive my typing error since im not much into keyboards. Yep im a caveman and have been around a hellovalot longer than your young smart ass has, thats 4 sure so get your facts straight.

  • @knowitall1975 actually Bruce Lee is half American, and many kong fu master refused to teach him, except Yip man, so how come Yip man never trusted no one but Chinese, get Ur facts straight...the reason Wing Chun got so famous is because he made it famous and encouraged his students to teach it to anyone trust worthy.

  • @netwiz2 Bruce Lee is not half american. his father is chinese and his mother half german. he is american by citizenship because he was born in san francisco.

  • @pinoyblues69 ..oh then i apologize..but my point was Bruce wasn't pure Chinese blood as Master previously described it and yet Yip man trained him.

  • @knowitall1975 I heard Yip Man was in to spreading wing chun in the world for it'll stay alive and develop.

  • @knowitall1975 What do you mean??? What "little" training lee had? I am pretty sure he trained quite a few years under Ip Man and another man Leung I think is his name. However you are right in the fact that the chinese did not want Lee teaching outside of China.

  • @Xandralina69 Well lee was a great fighter but he knew very little wing chun. He only completed around half his training and only knew like 2 forms of wing chun.

  • @Xandralina69

Bruce Lee trained about 3 Years under Ip Man. After he became famous he went back to Ip Man, but he refused to teach him..

  • @knowitall1975 True, at least his song is cooler lol.

  • @knowitall1975 That's untrue. He told his students such as Lo Man Kam to take Wing Chun and spread it where they went. He wasn't a traditionalist. Bruce Lee is NOT full chinese. As a result, during his training, the students where uncomfortable. Ip noticed this and asked Bruce Lee to leave the class, but return later to become Ip's personal student. Ip Man's dream was to spread Wing Chun to the world, according to sons Ip Ching and Ip Chun.

  • that is 100% not ip man

  • Thats why it 100% says it is IP CHUN - please read before commenting (Ip Chun is Ip Mans son)

  • lol....

  • @the1wuworld69 !! IT'S IP CHUN !! ip man's son

  • @the1wuworld69 HAHAHAHAHA ur an idiot

  • @the1wuworld69 idiot

  • Are you sure thats ip chun...doesnt look like him.

  • i don't think it's Ip Chun either, but i've been wrong many times b4, Here are the 'listed actors in the film' Bruce Li, David Chow, Chang Kuei, Ching Chi Min, Unicorn Chan

  • yeah it is Ip Chun, he was asked to play the part of his father although this was done a long time ago

  • cheers 4 straighten, lancs.. (can't believe he's not mentioned on back cover of video!!)

  • Damn kung fu films back then were so slow, showing techniques one by one, gets annoying

  • He says 'Eat my hip!' at 1:36, LOL.

  • LOL ye

  • ya i argee with chisaocat

  • This was just made to look cool for a film obviously Ip Chun still teaches WC as his father taught him

  • man the guy who played bruce lee trained in wing chun for like 1 week i bet. very begginer techniques, lap sao for like 30 seconds wont happen in real chi sao

  • i like this film.

  • that was funny. ho chung tao. in real boy was yip man pissed at old bruce lee. bong sao all day long, hahahaha.Lol

  • what r u blabbing on about?

  • what is the movie called??

  • yo stef i think its called Bruce Lee the man the Myth

  • this is one class movie

  • Ip chun was cool! very handsome, however i feels his VT standard not up to his dad, the younger actor ( by the name i know called Ho Chung do ) apparently was not exprienced in VT,at least at that stage hahaha .

  • Superb kicks... that was worth sitting through the bad dubbing :D

  • Hey, that's Jiu Wan's gym....

  • You have to love the sound effects and bad dubbing :)

  • Nice!! I bought this, in a set of 5 video tapes, just for this movie and seen. Yip Chun holds it down! Notice the photos of YIp in the background!

  • Thats crazy

  • It was this movie that made me want to study Wing Chun as a kid.
