This song was written by Denise and the video was all her idea - the water effect looks just great doesn't it. Denise went on to write many great songs that were just album tracks that should have been released as singles (she's a rock chick at heart) - check out HARD RACE on the Between The Lines album or WHAT ABOUT ME BABY on the album FIVE STAR - really great tunes. Also love There's A Brand New World but sadly due to lack of promotion it didn't do well at the time but defo one of my faves.

I still am a fan of this group, every inch of my bedroom wall used to be covered in posters. Now I am 36 and whilst watching all their videos just brings back how happy I used to be back then. I still love five star and its a pity they vanished. I could actually remember crying when I heard they were leaving the UK. Got to say: I saw Denise Pearson do a gig in the Gardening Club in Covent Garden, London last year. She is STILL one HOT woman: GREAT vocals and Steadman and her did Rain or Shine. She has been in Thriller: The Michael Jackson Tribute in the West End (the show started its run before MJ passed). She has still most definitely "got it", in fact I'd say she's got better!! She's incredible.

I'd go as far as to say that I prefer Five Star to Janet Jackson's material which is saying something. They really should have had massive success instead of being long forgotten. This country had some unbelievable talent back then. I don't care if they had excessive lifestyles, they deserved every single penny unlike today's pop artists, the record company should have paid them like footballers. All of their stuff still sounds amazing today.

@sxxyred Most people know that but when they say Denise reminds them off Janet they are talking about Control and Rhythm Nation era. I don't get it myself. People hear Denise & say she copied Janet but what I think what they really mean to say is that Denise sounds the way MJ's sister is SUPPOSED to sound because JJ has a weak singing voice & couldn't come within an inch of Denise's vocal ability on her best day! Denise's just has it & she never had surgery to try & look like anyone else either!

I still play this song, it was one of my favourite songs by them. I was a huge 5 star fan, buying their lp's on vinyl and learning all the words to their songs which was printed on the sleeve of the albums. I look back now and remember what a happy childhood I actually had which is why I'll still play and sing a long to their music 21 years later.

Yes, it was around 1988 from Tyne Tees productions - it was a series called "How Dare You". Five Star did the theme tune for the series using the same Stay Out Of My Life track, but changed the words to "How Dare You" instead. I really disliked that show intensely - although I used to really love Five Star in the 80s :-)
