Terrific video, thanks for sharing! I was just playing Guardian Force tonight (playing through a stack of Saturn cdr's). This is a terrific shooter that takes a good idea (360 degree turret) and runs with it. The level designs are quite clever, essentially omni-directional, and it's quite challenging. I burned through my 9 continues (not unlimited) rather quickly, but never felt cheated or frustrated. I'll definitely rank this in the upper tier of Saturn shmups.
Cool! Yeah this one's definitely worth checking out, especially for the slick 'feel' of the game which always feels smooth and accurate if you know what I mean. Yeah the collection is sweet! Next review is of another very recent acquisition, possibly the most surprisingly excellent shooter I've played for ages!! And a lot cheaper than this one - stay tuned!!
Really glad you've shown this Matt...never really inspected Guardian Force previously, but viewing your insightful take. To me...looks like there's great fun to be had here. Thanks for this one mate!..can imagine your Jap/Saturn shmup collection's looking pretty fine now too. :)
@MENDEZ1628 cheers mate! I replied to your comment after you put it up but it doesn't seems to have linked so you won't have been informed. Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you get to check out some of the fine games for the Saturn....I will be reviewing In the Hunt next (Katai Daisenpo or something similar) - which is a really cheap but excellent submarine shooter by the guys who made Metal Slug!
