I get people telling me they were a manufactured band and no more than a latter day Take That. these people are usually in their 20's and 30's. They have no idea of the disrespect they are showing.
I was the last person let into the evening gig. I was dressed as a vicar. That was my stage image at the time. Reverend P P Smyth in Manchester band V2.
We got there late, the person with our tickets had gone inside. I knocked on the door, hoping to ask someone to find them. To my utter surprise, the doorman looked at me and said 'In you come!
Until 2003, I never realised why that happened. Now I realise that he thought I was something to do with the benefit! Lucky or what? x
Incredible how much has changed and yet stayed the same. Evocative piece of social history. The gig the media ignored after all had they not already demonized the band. The Pistols had been identified as public enemy *1 and being labelled thus could not be allowed the perception of a band of substance.
Johnny use to be playworker, so I'm sure he had a great day that day.
