  • The K-2000 VP is blue and is 18 bit

  • The first sound is beyond belief! If anyone knows the name of that preset, please respond. Is it playable from bare-bones K2000?

  • I used to drool over this beast when it first came out.. could never afford one.

  • This is misleading,,, is it the K2000R or The K2000VP? They are two different modules.

  • @dazeja The exact label for this particular module is - "Kurzweil K2000R V.A.S.T. Player". From what I know they all have the same architecture. I had earlier keyboard version of K2000 before this module and the only major difference for me was the basic soundset. If you know more about the differences, please, share with us.

  • @vlad1gavrilchik I used the wrong wrod. i didn't mean misleading,,,, more confusing since the picture is a K2000r and the description says a K2000vp.

I have the k2000r and didn'rt have anything near those sounds in the presets. So I was wondering if the VP has different presets.

  • @vlad1gavrilchik The only thing that Ever set any of the K2000's apart from each other had everything to do with which operating system the unit had! There of course were the ROM expansion Blocks too, Orchestral and Contemporary ROM expansion! The K2000VP or "VAST Player" was the Last Hurrah for the K2000... BUT, Just Before that Model was the K2VX and K2VXS, "S" designating the Sampling Option was installed... The K2VX simply was a Fully Expanded K2000.. "out of Space, i could go on...":)

  • The composer Michael Land did justice to this keyboard. Speficially doing the soundtrack for the PC game called The Dig

I suggest you guys check it out!!

  • Is there any kind of arpeggiator on the k2000? i'm in the midst of purchasing one, and this may be a big selling point

  • Still best engine since it release 1991 - 1992ish I have 4 maxed out k2500's and k2600 maxed, plus k2000 - unbeatable simply put.... i have 50 other synths, kurzweil still rules :-)

  • What is the first sound called?

  • Still the arguably most under rated yet powerfull synth engine ever! No, this machine Is over 18 years old and It can do what current workstations can only dream of! IE, hold a string pad chord, then select any other sound. While still holding that original sound Play the newly selected One! Keep doing this with that original sound still held! Yeah, try that on a Motif, M3 or Fantom!!

  • What the.. and this machine dates back 10 years ago?? Motif can't do this.... I'm selling my Motif off.

  • @cvl85 19 Years ago, I think

  • @cvl85 Dates back almost two decades to be exact, but yea kurzweil synths are on another level.

  • Great demo, nice work. 5*

  • these samplers are underated , mainly as they have some amazing chromatic lfo's and when mapped to pitch can do the most amazing evolving stuff , a sound designers dream. The only thing that comes near is the oasys.Kontakt sounds just to clinical and brittle.I spent ages a/b samples in samplers and via kontakt and even with kontalt run through a good pre it was nowhere in the same league as these hardware machines.Kontakt seems to remove something.Ps omnisphere cant load samples !

  • @Senj1n is this a recent change? - I had read a review that said it didn't. Would really be nice if it does.

I have a K2500 and by no means an expert - but what Omnisphere seems to offer is dynamic program morphing, which K2500 doesn't seem to have any allowance for. Everything I've played with on K2500 reaches a certain limit, which I could immediately hear was exceeded in the Omnisphere demo.

  • 'Omnisphere' is better imho

  • Tasty -Indeed!

  • Igen, kell nekem is egy ilyen kütyü!!

  • Wow, this is simply amazing ... I have a question, can a K2000RS produce these sounds as well ?? Can someone also load Mellotron sounds into a K2000RS, I would appreciate an answer if you have time. Thx ...

  • @Kafrifelle depends on the version of your module. I'm not sure these particular sounds are by default in your k2000 as my k2000 VP had a K2500 soundset. And yes, you can load any KRZ, wav or akai sample (mellotron as well). Or even sample it directly to the module (S stands for sampling option)

  • This was a powerful sampler back in the day - and it cost a whole bunch of money to outfit with everything.

Still have mine though. Wouldn't trade it for anything...except the keyboard version.

  • K2000 presets, pretty amazing that this stuff came out back in the early 90's and still sounds good I dont think I've ever heard the chior/pad patch at :16 What patch is that?

  • Blaze..this is awesome. I assume you did it with the module instead of the keyboard. Did you use the orchestra expantion

  • @stevevarunee these are just presets from k2000 VP module. It comes with the k2500 soudset. No orchestra expansion here

  • Well done, Vlad. Great demo of the unknown side of the K2000R.
