Not my type of horror movie. My type of horror movie is fear of the unknown type deals and a bit of variety. But in this movie, you knew what to expect, and you knew how the cards would play out eventually. The movie just plain pissed me off. Rapists and killers we see all too much. It's just like all the zombie movies they come out with. Stop with the remakes and fucking use creativity to make a unique masterpiece.

Last House on the Left, Hills Have Eyes and Dawn of the Dead are part of the bad ones. Soft, luxurious, commercial works made only for the money.

I don't like torture porn, I mean the expression. But it does fit a movie like Hostel that I can't stand. As for Saw, I love the first film - which is not torture porn - and don't like the following ones who are torture porn, in a useless way...

Answering your original post, films that glorify gore or show too much are gratuitous, while films that only show some of it or have a climax where they show are not. If the film is a commentary on violence, like A History of Violence, there's a point to be made. If not, it's usually because the director thought it would be appropriate or to attract people who want to see stuff like that; in this case both are true.

Well no, I'm not a complete idiot, and you're wrong, torture porn is a term to describe movies like Touristas and Hostel that are more gore than any type of substance or plot. The first Saw movie was extremely well put together, and shows how a little gore can go a long way as long as there's a competent story behind it. My issue is with Phillips, who insults Watchmen for being gory/ violent when it was a near panel for panel remake of a comic that was gory and violent. It's unfair.
