  • GEARHEAD GARAGE !! :D

  • they tottaly messed them up after

  • i want one

  • i must find one of these, 26 lucky people got each one of those cars, there must be at least one person that dosent want theres any more or at least would part with it for the right price, i've only heard of 2 from anyone so far and that includes surgechecker18 anyone who has any info on one PM me please

  • ugly as sin.....nostalgia is for people who realize they are getting really old.

  • i met a guy today that used to work at the checker plant in mi.. pretty cool old dude

  • The Checker Cab is a true classic cars. I live near New York City, where many of them were driven.

  • Bring back the Surge drink!

  • Nice video! But could they have been paintted any uglier?

  • I appreciate the post. Anyway for me to get a DVD copy of this. I do not know how to "download" this to my computer permanently and it is important to me.

    Thanks, George

  • There's a program I use to download YouTube's videos, it's really simple to use and is completely free. It's called "Orbit Downloader"

  • Also, there's a good program that I use called "save2pc light" if that one doesn't work out for you.

  • Thanks guys, I will try and download it.

  • holy shit you own an original surge checker? can i be in your will? post a video of it please. maybe a burn out?

  • I am in the process of rebuilding my Checker. I will post some video as soon as she in out of the shop.

  • In Norway we still have this drink, but it's called URGE :D

  • oh i though surge came out 1997

  • whats the point of giving these away they dicontinued surge which was pretty dumb

    btw this is from 1997

  • If you read the intro, this is a press release copied from the original video feed on November 26, 1998, not 1997

  • Why do that to an American icon? They look fuckin shite! Have you any idea how hard it is to find a decent original Checker A11 now? I used to have a A11E in the UK around 94. The guy who sourced it from me said it was the hardest mission he had ever done. He just could not find one worth exporting back to UK! All were heaps and full of rust. I wanted an original NYC Checker - no chance! I paid a lot of money for my Checker. I really loved that car. Best car ever built in US.

  • unlike the uk, where most taxi's are Black, not all Checker Taxi Cabs in the USA are Yellow. Checker Cabs could be found in many many different variation of color. So really, all you have to do here is remove the decals and you have a taxi cab. My Checker A11L (L stands for flat head 6) is from 1963 and is this exact green color and also yellow. Came that way from the factory. My brothers checker is Green and Cream color.

  • @zama202bc i'll bet since SURGE isn't around anymore, that these are all painted differently now.

  • @zama202bc They took 26 old cars that were rusting away and restored them. Yes, the paint job sucks, but that's the good thing about paint-- you can change it! It's not that hard to find them, by the way. You can usually find one on eBay just about anytime.

  • I own #22! It doesn't look that good any more. You can see it on CarDomain. More than one has been repainted yellow.

  • i must admit that i find the green paintjob kinda ugly. if i would get one of those my first act would be turing it back to its original checker yellow and all.

  • I want to see one of these!

  • This is SO awesome...I love SURGE...it was, and still is the greatest soda EVER! I'd live in a SURGE Cab too.
