"They needed to figure out the exact paths that the electrons took and how far apart they were from the nucleus ,and they needed to figure out all that crap! " Lmao!
@puffsmeal electrons avoid each other. They have a negative charge, so are opposed to each other. It's kinda like taking the negative sides on two magnets and trying to stick them together. They just push away. (just for a simple representation)

I completed Hon. Chem (Grades A and B) and 1 semester of AP Chem (B) in high school... And I am learning more from this series...

@Puffsmeal they will not hit each other. Electrons are negatively charged and therefore repel one another.

Shell 1 can hold 2x1²,
shell 2 can hold 2x2²,
shell 3 can hold 2x3²,
shell 4 can hold 2x4²,
shell 5 can hold 2x5²,
shell 6 can hold 2x6²,

Only having seen basic chemistry at school we more or less saw the I hope familiar thing of, 1 in the closest orbit, 8 on all else.
Any idea where that comes from? Or is is just plain wrong?
Londron 4 months ago in playlist Meer video's van thenewboston
@Londron It's true that the second shell can hold 8 electrons. Here's the math: " 2*(TheShellsNumber*2) " - Which is equal to 8.
3rd shell can hold 18 electrons
4th shell can hold 32
And so on.

Ow I hate how you learn shit wrong in school first -_-.
Thanks.

Btw, the "Hydrogen" that we usually refer to has 0 neutrons.
There are two other "Hydrogens" which the first one has 1 neutrons and the second has 2 neutrons.
